  1. For some reason I REALLY like the way this coaster looks. It just "fits in" that plot of land well and the theming (IMO) is nice looking, especially for Six Flags. For some reason the "parking lot" look is not bugging me at all like other parking lot coasters (like Scream! @ SFMM). So in other words, I feel like SFGAdv has a winner on their hands, despite having to wait on the idiots trying to figure out how to strap in...
  2. ^^^ That is not the only reason. The Williamsburg/Yorktown/Jamestown area and Virginia Beach area have become VERY popular tourist destinations over the past years, more than ever I would say... Plus, BGW is right outside some of the largest cities in Virginia (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, ect.) and KD is 20 miles north of Richmond and about 70 miles outside of the D.C. area. Everyone has a different opinion... and mine is KD > BGW.
  3. Nice KD trip report and photos! Glad you like Intimidator 305 and the new turn! I really like this photo, I always forget to snap a shot from that angle... Best lifthill ever...
  4. I REALLY like how the Green Lantern entrance plaza is looking (for a Six Flags park atleast)! Atleast this will kind of "balance" the superhero feel of the area with Superman right next to it. Plus, besides the trees and shrubs, the theming even looks pretty good in the plaza as well. Although I never rode Chang at SFKK I think this is a great replacement for GASM, and something that they GP will absolutely love. Just my opinion....
  5. WOW! I am suprised Intimidator 305 got #3. I am very happy that CF picked KD for the ride since it is my homepark (only 200 miles away). And as it was said earlier, GO INTAMIN!
  6. The first thing I did when seeing the picture! But in all honesty, BGW has a FANTASTIC looking family coaster coming their way. I've always been one to not find BGW's coasters as "amazing" as everyone makes them out to be (Apollo, Griffon, and BBW), but this one so far, has my close attention and money in the bank account on hold for a 2012 season pass along with KD and Dollywood!
  7. Haha, yeah they got me on that as well. I just joined, I figured I would eventually like to chime in about the project sooner or later on the site. From the pictures, the ride should be a GREAT replacement for BBW. A "family" coaster that BGW REALLY needs. So far, it seems like it will be a more "fun" ride than an "intense" ride.
  8. UPCHARGE for the movie too? Heck, I rather put up with the annoying SpongeBoob than that!
  9. ^ CF has done a great job getting rid of that "feeling" I would say... Let's just say I used to like BGW more, and now I like KD more. I used to visit KD 1-2 times a year and didn't have a season pass, now I visit it more than 5 times a year and have a season pass... and I live 3+ hours away.
  10. Seems like you had a great time! Its good to know the 305 crew is still energetic, they always seem to be the most "fun" ride ops in the park! Also, it was good to hear a Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular update, seems like they should be about done with the lights and just have to put up the huge characters.
  11. Thanks for the great trip report! KI is looking great besides those crazy crowds! I am also one of the Windseeker sign fans, it looks awesome, and so do the lights!
  12. I honestly do really like Dominator's yellow loop since it is SO massive and facing directly at the entrance. Plus, it is only the single loop and not half the inversions like on here. Another plus is that the yellow and orange colors that they used look good together, unlike the yellow and green. I can say though, I really hate how Green Lantern is starting to look...
  13. I never thought I would see a theme park chain beat Disney to charging 20 bucks for parking!
  14. Oh wow, that blue is awful and I must agree the tower is very bulky looking... Poor Oktoberfest! Hopefully it gets a kick-a$$ coaster next year to make up for the odd renovations it went through this year. The colors they are painting Oktoberfest seem like colors I should see in the Grove at KD, not in a German themed area of a park.
  15. THIS. Intimidator 305 & El Toro in the same trip would be amazing! Especially if you throw in Volcano, Dominator, Flight of Fear, Kingda Ka, Bizzaro, and Nitro!
  16. Thanks for the good report! I really hope Mach Tower isn't topped off, because that doesn't look tall, at all! I know I'm used to Drop Tower at KD, but seriously is that it? I know it is supposed to be slightly more than 240 feet... Hopefully, it is one of those rides that you seem a lot further up than you actually are...
  17. The name "Verbolten" is alright, I can't complain about it, but it is not something I would use to name a coaster. Hopefully they stick with that name though and don't pull a BGT and lead everyone to think it will be called Verbolten and then the actual name will be something like Quick Bolt... Hahaha I still can't get over the name Cheetah Hunt, Cheetaka was MUCH better!
  18. Thanks for the update, the park is looking good as usual. Glad to finally see some progress on Mach Tower and hear that some of the pieces are at BGW. I'm going to wait to make my first trip of the season to the park once (if ever) Mach Tower is complete to see how it goes up against Drop Tower at KD (my favorite). I'm also excited to see the "suprises" at the top of the ride turn out, but I don't have my hopes up.
  19. ^^ Thanks for the picture. KD picked the perfect area in the park for Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. Did you happen to get a picture of the new "roof" on PEANUTS Showplace?
  20. Great trip report! I agree 100% with you about 305. Thanks for the photos too! There was a suprise in your trip report! PEANUTS Showplace got a new "roof" since I was there a week and a half ago. I really like the yellow and white because there is a ton of yellow in Planet Snoopy (Snoopy's Botique, all the "Planet Snoopy" signs, ect.) and it should brighten up that side of Planet Snoopy. The yellow and white roof should also provide a good amount of shade, yet still let some light in. Another good investment for KD as it looked kind of silly without a roof the past couple years! I posted a photo from my recent photo trip report and your photo to show the addition that must have taken place a few days ago... I'm glad to see that they improved it for the new show, "Saddle Up!" coming Memorial Day weekend - Labor Day weekend. Anyone got new pictures of the Showplace's new roof? PEANUTS Showplace with no roof on 4/10/11. PEANUTS Showplace with roof on 4/19/11.
  21. ^ Shockwave is actually fun the first half of the ride, until the helix that is, then it is rough. It looks great though now with its new paint! As far as your visits in 2008, the park was still in the "transition period" from Paramount to Cedar Fair... CF has done a fantastic job fixing the place up over the past couple years with new paint, landscaping, pavers, retracking, ect. KD should be a fantastic park in about 3 more years if CF keeps up the great work of slowly but surely, paying attention to the details and charm of the park. But besides the little stuff, KD is worth a trip just to check out 305 because it is seriously that amazing!
  22. I must agree, if I was from out of the country, KD would be a one-time park for the credits. Sure there were a few great rides, but nothing to come back for when there are hundreds of other parks in the country to try out when you get the chance to visit the States. Now with 305, it definitely should be on every coaster enthusiast's "to-do" list, because it definitely is a world-class ride, and happens to be my favorite (at my homepark fortunately)!
