  1. That's just it. B&M doesn't push the envelope AT ALL. Every one of their coasters is a cookie-cutter of another. Intamin is new, innovative, much more thrilling, and their rides put parks on the map. This looks like a fun and cool coaster, but the hype just isn't there for me on this one. I remember when MF and TTD were being built, the anticipation and wonder were through the roof. Gatekeeper is more of a meh feeling, because I know it's going to feel identical to B&Ms out there most of us have already ridden. Who makes more reliable rides? B&M Who has rides with lower maintenance? B&M Who makes rides with little downtime? B&M Who is the easiest to work with (based on actual park interviews and talks)? B&M Who makes extremely high capacity rides? B&M Cedar Point chose B&M for a reason. They make extremely high quality coasters. This ride most likely won't have the insane issues that STR, Maverick, TTD or MF had.
  2. Oh my god...that does not look safe.
  3. I imagine it would feel similar to Collosus' quadruple roll, but in a stationary position. They'd most likely rotate the track piece at the heart line. I really want to see/hear more about this. I look forward to seeing exactly what that that new maze from Scarefest TRs.
  4. Medieval Europe + Steampunk + Futuristic Tech + Assassin's Creed = Dishonored. And that's an awesome recipe for some great gameplay.
  5. ^I don't think that's the case. Looks at smaller regional parks. We don't have any mega lites because no US park has ordered one. For one reason or another, parks have found other ride options to more suit their interests. Plus, aren't Mega-Lites a bit on the expensive side when compared to Eurofighters or Boomerangs? That is also an important factor to consider.
  6. I really love the fact that Alton Towers seems to have the guts (aka money ) to try all these great new coaster concepts. While some may discount Th13een, there's one aspect of that ride's drop system that trumps the Zierer version. That aspect being the timing. Alton got the timing perfectly down with Th13een. There's little pause between the fall and the launch backwards, so the ride keeps its flow...hopefully the same will apply to SW7...but the only thing I worry is that the piece of rotating track will kill capacity. An 8 person car on the rotating piece for the 30 seconds, plus the apron 15 seconds added for transferring makes the max capacity something like 1,000 PPH if you're hauling. With the popularity this ride is going to have...that'll majorly impact how many people get on this.
  7. ^No standouts? Even if most of the ride is a dud, I still the think the 160ft circular loop will be a great experience.
  8. After riding Manta half a dozen times over the summer I can openly say that the Mack Rides' restraints are some of the most comfortable of any ride I've ever ridden. Really great car design, really great looking project!
  9. That's seriously awesome. I just got lost in the site for about 20 minutes looking through everything...the detail is astounding...
  10. Hey look! Another proposed Paramount Park! Isn't this like the 6th or 7th project they've been involved in over the past few years? How many of those parks have gotten built? Exactly. I highly doubt this will go anywhere. It's just as outlandish as nearly every other proposed park is now.
  11. Because removing the entire Kiddie Area and many of the family friendly attractions in HW for a steel coaster makes complete sense. Haha no. Actually, it doesn't.
  12. Can we please put this thread out of its misery?
  13. Here's the video! My camera unfortunately died about half way through the event, so this was the best footage of the show that I got. I apologize for the shaking at the start, I stepped up onto a bench to get a better angle. Definitely watch this all the way through, the reveal at the end is great!
  14. Brick or Treat was great! Fantastic way to kick off the Halloween season. This year we saw a guest appearance by an amazing performance group by the name of Art Attack, who performed live artistry mixed with a variety of show elements. Altogether the event felt really strong this year. There seemed to be an increase in the number of roving actors, and the atmosphere continues to get better and better! I'll post some photos and videos tomorrow.
  15. They over-invested in the park at the start, and that is why they haven't given it new additions. Two Face is a Vekoma Inverted Boomerang, which are infamous for having loads of issues. They may not have had the capital to invest in the needed repairs or to investigate a solution. When it was clear that the ride was a money pit, they removed it. Since they over invested, rather than spreading the investments out, the park suffered from lower attendance. The park itself must be doing fine since they just opened a new (sort of) ride, with decent theming. So no, the park was not a bad idea, it's just that the management of the chain left a bit to be desired.
  16. If it didn't make money, they'd stop doing it. It's obviously still making them money if they're still doing it. Legoland's Brick or Treat event draws ridiculously huge weekend crowds. As does Knott's and Disney, and most haunt events. People like the atmosphere and scares they get with the price of admission. They'll change the name of the event if they get a better one...or if they have the money to do marketing for a new name. Even re-naming the event would require a decent amount of marketing, aka money. It's all about money.they'll re-name ride of Steel when they come up with a solution to profit from.
  17. Kentucky Kingdom lost popularity and closed due to SF management removing rides and not replacing them. Coupling that with the fact that they had a bad PR incident and the Fair Board to deal with, SF decided to pull out. It had nothing to do with a failing market.
  18. There are some people in this world who never seem to comprehend the simple, and easy concept of "you win more flies with honey than vinegar".
  19. I really do love the atmosphere that you've injected into this park. It has a really nice small park feel, with the expanse of a full size regional park. The one thing I would suggest is maybe a bit more path variation? I'm not quite sure how it would look, but it might make some of the area pop more.
  20. Had I not been given the first season of Rocky and Bullwinkle, I doubt I would have enjoyed Rip Saw Falls as much as I did knowing the characters and their quirks. That seems to be the second biggest land in IOA (besides Potter) that requires a bit of prior knowledge to make the attractions more understandable/entertaining. However, since Potter is huge in pop culture, it has a distinct advantage when being compared to Cartoon Lagoon. However, a lot of parents probably get a bit of a nostalgia kick going through there. Can't think of much benefit besides that...
  21. That's because it is the No Limits model imported in RCT3 by heverton, which has technically been deemed as illegal by Ole Lange, but since liftsifter didn't do it himself, I don't think we can hold him accountable for knowing that.
  22. Legoland re-tweeted my photo of the park that I posted yesterday.
  23. Went to Legoland over the weekend. Halloween is in the air.
