Yeah, several of SF's additions were accidentally leaked last year via the LA Times. I don't think it will happen again this year. SFMM has managed to keep a lot of the ride hidden from us, and I don't think they'd be happy to have such a large announcement leaked earlier than anticipated. You never know though....

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
SoCalCoasters replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not only would it require a ludicrous amount of power for a single launch, but the cost to run it daily would be astronomical. Each time you double a ride's speed, you need 4x the energy. The amount of built up electrical energy needed to launch Kingda Ka would be very high. Not to mention, the installation costs would also need to be factored in. Overall, it's most likely not gonna happen. This energy is stored in the cables at extremely high tensions which can be relatively reliable if properly maintained and inspected periodically. However, storing energy at such high tensions can result in the snapping of the cable. It's not that commonplace for it to happen. It's only happened around 3-4 times in the 10 years intamin has been making these Accelerator coasters. -
I'd love to know where in the park they could place a Batman Clone. In terms of logistics, animals attract a more family oriented audience than say, a megaton thrill machine. The park has a balance of both animals and rides. Since the park just happens to have an empty show stadium now....wouldn't it be the most logical focus for next year's addition? Not to mention they just added a major new coaster this year... That drop tower story was a fanboy rumor, nothing more.

This Nintendo Power (RIP) review I posted a page back brought up some issues that I was very sad to see: It just appears to be an extremely limited and watered down version of RCT3. Also, I KNOW the 3DS is capable of MUCH better than what is being displayed here. Hopefully the time the game is being delayed is being sent on fixing these issues.

New Amusement Park planned for... Tracy, CA?

You forgot about the Fenton's. -
I think SFMM has a great collection of rides, as well as great ride experiences. I had an absolute blast on the night time Goldrusher rides I had during WCB this past year. Sure, it's not an OMFG record breaker, but it was still probably the most fun I had on a coaster all day. Sure, the park doesn't have the best of everything, but it has a unique and diverse mix of some really great coasters that's definitely worth checking out. If people would stop grumbling for two seconds about what the park doesn't have, they'd notice what the park does have. SFMM has great rides, even if they aren't the tallest or fastest, or have the most airtime. And come on! Is Tatsu's Pretzle loop not one of the coolest moments on a flying coaster?

Just because a ride is large doesn't mean you have to make it look disproportionate to everything around it...the Hyper just isn't very good. It looks ridiculous compared to everything around it in a bad way. I'd say try to start over with it, because as it stands, it just doesn't fit in at all with the park. See? While still remaining a dominant figure in the picture, this hyper managed to keep its scale and look like it belongs. Also, I supported this with NO custom scenery. Try to mess around with layouts and scale, and may be try to put more work into each update and/or add more in between because the park is still just meh. As well as addressing the criticism people give you, you should really try to implement some of their suggestions. -
Where in the world did you get all those crazy rumors from? It sounds like someone a a random forum thought up an outdoor version of ROTM crossed with HRRR. I really doubt this will have any special track elements like that. The moving track sections were for increased capacity on Freeze and the turntables have only been used with the ROTM ride vehicle. The two 6-seater vehices (if they do use these cars) would most likely require a larger turntable...something I don't think SFMM wants to deal with on a coaster considering all the tech nightmares they've had to work with in the past (Superman, X2, Green lantern, Lex et.). I'm interested in seeing what they do but at this point I'm imagining a large scale launch coaster. I'm not sure how readily I'd believe they'd do more than that. I hope they surprise me though. Well if you want to get technical with Powderkeg...

That looks ridiculously disproportionate to the rest of your attractions in your park, and it really looks out of place. Aesthetically magnum and Steel Phantom looked good, this just isn't doing it for me. The placement of the supports is part of it... -
The Johnny Rocket's are literally 10 ft from each other. On the Sea side of the park all there is a drink stand (beer, slurpees, soda, pretzels, and churros) and a small building with chicken tenders and fries. I think they also recently added a meatball sandwich to the small building though. Edit: Here's my idea for Six Flags. A drop tower, food court, new family coaster, and new indoor penguin exhibit. -___-' Why would they take out high capacity infrastructure for something like that? SFDK has plenty of food options, and considering the size of the park it's fine that they're mainly in one location. They're not going to take out the Sea Lion Stadium for a Penguin exhibit, coaster and drop tower. Plus, the cost of all of those would be quoie tremendous.

And I have the high score. +100 nerd points for me. In all seriousness, it is a pretty fun app.
