Over a week ago I made a post about winning a state farm/six flags in park/online contest. The prize is 4 VIP tickets good up until the end of the 2012 season but only for magic mountain or discovery kingdom. Last night I was contacted by a six flags media agent via e-mail explaining how to set up reservations for the day I decide to go. So I'll try to go sometime in the summer of 2011 hopefully in July or August. This www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/tickets/viptours.aspx is the prize package, but good for me and three other people. I'd prefer going to magic mountain rather then Discovery Kingdom since I've only been there twice and only been on less then half the rides. Plus if my dad is going, he can chill out at the water park. So far I'd only be taking my friend and most likely my dad. Still need to find a 4th, though I got until 2012 to make the plans and get down there.

Coasters at Night
Fire2box replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mudusa and Roar. Roar is much better at either the front or back when it gets dark, There's no lighting on the ride at all. Plus it's "tunnel" bunnyhop area is scary even in the daytime due to all the hand/head choppers. It's like being 5 years old on Big thunder Mountain. -
And V2, Tony Hawk, Hammerhead, and TazDevil are? So many people underrate these rides. I forgot about V2. Hammerhead is okay but I find the bumper cars are a shorter wait now. Tony Hawk isn't worth the wait I think unless its your first time and Tax devil I am just not too interested in. of course me and my friends only ride on tony hawk was a insanely bad one. It was just me and him and he decides to sit on the same exact side as me and as soon as he sits down one of the ride ops pull down the lap bar. I was totally pissed at him during the whole ride. We were still spinning for a solid min after the ride was officially over and waiting to get pulled back into the station. We took about a 5 min break before setting off to Roar or V2 due to our dizziness due to his irrational seat choice.

xSpeaking of lighting, the whole animal area of the park (top right of the park map) lacks a whole lot of lighting. I was more scared of walking down their super dimly lit paths then in their scare zones during my fright fest visit. I only have 4 rides I consider worth a damn there now. Roar, Mudusa, Bumper cars and VooDoo. Hopefully Sky Screamer will be a 5th. Also in terms of placement.. maybe they can ship Kong away and give SFDK a clone of The Green Lantern.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Fire2box replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last coaster was on a back seat on Mudusa at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Smooth as butter, as always. (im too scared to sit on the front on it, though I took the front on Roar that day, which is actually just as scary due to sharp banking turns and of course, head/hand choppers) -
(warning hi-jacked message about a trip to SFDK on 10/10/2010) Today I went to SFDK and it was pretty filled. I only went on two rides. Medusa 4 times 2 in middle rows, 2 in the back row.) and twice on Roar once in front and once in the back.. the back is far better on Roar. I asked a regular park employee about the Sky Screamer and where they plan on placing it but he told me that they haven't told any employees where it's going to be. So I told him I guess it's where the pay for attraction ( Sky coaster) is or cobra to which he didn't reply anything to. Anyways the parked was very much packed but the wait for mudusa was pretty short since they had two trains going and the staff was going fast. As usual at SFDK and I guess other parks the reason for coasters being held up at all really is women trying to take on pursues or people with backpacks. Also Roar was operating with only ONE train so it's line was long and painfully slow. Enough to make you consider paying 30 dollars for a flashpass. Thankfully I didn't splurge on a flash pass since I don't care for V2 all that much without a friend to ride with and tony hawk to me is okay.. but the line just moves way to slow even with 3-4 cars on the track.I also don't care for boomerang since it has a track record for breaking down anything I am at the park and i'm not taking the chances of being on it when that happens. Plus White Water Safari was drained of water which sucked since it was around 85 degrees perhaps more due to heat reflecting off the blacktop. Once it rolled to around 4-5 pm the windy finally picked up and once the sun set it cooled down rather quickly. So at first in the early afternoon the park was bad due to population inside the park. But after a while I knew what area's to go to and when. Either way, I can't wait till they are opened on weekdays again. weekends at theme parks.. ugh. (Edit, SFDK could really benefit from a single rider line on boomerang, roar and tony hawk and perhaps the water rides.)

I really hope it takes place of Skycoaster. Someone else wanted to see it where the go-kart track is but I always see a few people driving around on the go karts. Plus if it's where the gokarts are, the sky line won't look that great. Plus that area already has V2, Roar and tony Hawks rollercoaster's. I would prefer seeing great rides scattered all over the park rather then just on two sides of the park.

I plan on going to SFDK this Saturday, so maybe guest relations knows what area of the park this is going to. But by the description I am guessing Sky coaster, Voodoo or Cobra. Sky coaster is pretty much right between shouka's orca stadium and Odin's tiger temple. Being up that high I think could give you a good look at their areas from a top down perspective.. voodoo's location could work too, but that ride is actual decent for such a short wait. Now the question is.. what are they going to do about the 3D/motion seat theater that's been closed and how can they make Kong smoother so you don't walk off with a headache or possibly bleeding ears? (also, SFDK official topic please? This is the 3rd topic about SFDK in about 4 months right?)

Best Drops....
Fire2box replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Steel: X2 (only been on the very back on the left outside seat though.. still fun) Wooden: Roar Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It's not a high drop but it banks and turns on the first drop. -
Vekoma Roller Coasters
Fire2box replied to kingdakacor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last time was at SKDK just over a month ago I guess my friend wanted to hit up all the rollercoasters asides from boomerang (boring, and always breaking down, and recently got stuck on the 2nd lift hill.) So we waited in line for Kong for maybe 45 mins. The ride operator was even joking about how bad this ride is on the speaker system and sadly barely anyone took his advice. There was also very slow load times despite 2 trains in operation. Every time the 2nd train had to wait at the breaking station at the end. Horrible ride that hurts you hear and/or ears no matter how tense up you get. Do yourself a favor skip Kong and ride mudusa twice.. once in front, once in back. -
they're gonna die after that 2nd loop.

SF 2011 season passes and parking
Fire2box replied to sros1fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I couldn't find anything like this on SFDK's page. I'll try asking guest relations there on my next visit. -
List the parks you have visited in 2010
Fire2box replied to Groteslurf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (at least 5 times now) Magic Mountain (twice, but the 2nd visit was only for about two hours or so since we had to drive back up north along I-5.. sucks living like 375 miles away from it) -
With the whole glasses issue, would you be able to ride if you put them in a glass case that's in your pocket that is tied to one of your belt loops? That's what I do since my glasses cost over 130 (prescription with anti glare and transition lenses.) Thankfully im not blind, I just can't read anything more then 50 feet away depending on size of text of course.

Would you even say any flash pass is worth it at SFDK? I been there about 6 times this season and if you get there even at 11 you can go on every ride at least once, as long as your fine missing the animal shows which have gotten more boring. Plus the roller coasters are somewhat scattered around the park (I.E. Long Walks). However me and my friend might get one during fright fest, so we can go on each coaster at night. Worst part about fright fest in SFDK is they closed down the bumper cars for a maze.

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
Fire2box replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Marine world (now Discovery Kingdom) is my home park, I don't see how Mudusa has one of the worst endings of a roller coaster, sure the loops and stuff get smaller near the end but that last loop seems to be banked quite a bit and it rushes blood into my head every time. I think Kong or Tony Hawks Big spin ( both at the same park) have worser endings then Medusa.. Though Kong is the worst rollercoaster I been on. -
If the launcher is re-done and designed to overshoot the tower, and they must relies on magnetic breaks that need power their is little chance I'll go on it again.. since if those breaks fail I would be crashing into superman/top of the tower and possibly have the car derail and fall over 400 feet to my death. No thank you.
