The neighbors on the hill across from the park (via Lake Chabot) are staunchly against anything with noise or height going by the lake. It would be spectacular to swing over the lake but alas, NIMBY neighbors. Plus there's the whole issue of disrupting animals but that's a whole "800 lb. gorilla" discussion. You mean the lake that's full of green murky, allege infested water that the city of Vallejo uses for drinking water. Plus the neighbors being a water treatment plant. whatever. <_> Anyways disrupting the animals has been, always will be a issue. I've never once saw the fennic fox/foxes next to the children's area, then I found out it's legal to own them as pets in some sates. Either way, I felt sorry for the fox/foxes.

What is your local park?
Fire2box replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom- 1 hour 40 mins, roughly 85 miles one way. California's Great America- anywhere from 1 hour to 2 and a half hours away depending who's driving and traffic. Six Flags Magic Mountain.... 6-10 hours. -
Could you ever see it from I-5 anyways? Anyways whats funny to watch is the movie Rollercoaster on netflix instantly. I guess they filmed it right before Rev opened and Rev was the whole glory shots/finale. The movie is about a person who plants bombs on rollercoasters to make them derail and a rollercoaster inspector who somehow morphs into a detective. they then play a cat and mouse type chase all across the country, ending in magic mountain.. though the parks name was changed, I think.

Beverly Hills Cop III -which theme park?
Fire2box replied to magic83's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
CGA/MGA/PGA, whatever you want to call it now seems to be in a bit of decline. Thankfully they are still running the Demon which was my brothers first and my first inverted coaster. I haven't been on demon in about 5 years or so I think but it was a fun ride. -
Intamin Spiral Coaster!

It looks worse then Zonga IMHO. Which also happened to have killed someone, though they had a brain aneurysm. -
CBS and viacom splitting off and CBS getting the theme parks and then selling them off. Not sure what happened to the other parks but Cedar Fair bought CGA and it was already going downhill under viacom/paramount. At first I was like sweet, maybe the park will be like a miniature cedar point. I quickly learned that Cedar fair only cares about cedar point and the others are just gravy, if that. Six Flags only needs to step up it's game with the animals at SFDK and they could really drive California great america under, and possibly steal it's carousal too.. but where would they put it? Also the whole 300+ foot tall coasters that last for about 15 seconds with longer then average lines and even cable's snapping, meh.

Well I know im not going back to a 49ers game until after 2014. Candlestick park is horrible, while I was there a few years ago there were no cupholders, at all and getting to and from the stadium was a nightmare. As for CGA itself.. that place when down hill when they put in a water park, inside the park that you have to pay extra for. They also tore out northern california's ONLY flying roller coaster to make room for it. Since that water park has opened, one kid has already drowned and the flat rides, psycho mouse horrible. Well, psycho mouse isn't bad but the lines for it are simply too long due to the capacity of the ride. Same thing happens with tony hawk at SFDK.

ADHD and Front of the Line Privileges
Fire2box replied to tuxedomask5432's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They can pay the 299.99 for front of the line rights at the six flags park, I'll be fine with that. But really ADD/ADHD people really don't deserve speacial treatment as far as I am concerned. That said if this ever happened at six flags you can be damn sure i'll abuse the system. ADD/ADHD/autism (aspergers) are very, very easy to fake not to mention bad doctors don't want to " waste" time actully figuring out whats wrong with people or simply can't admit people are different or odd. I guess they think they'll get sued if they just say... well, your just odd but you don't have ADD. it's kind of like how my dad got a handicap placard or whatever for being 10% disabled in his left leg, 30% disabled in his right leg and maybe 98% disabled in sanity. Seriously, doctors are measuring physical handicap in freaking percentages. Guess what if your leg doesn't work your disabled, if it does even if you have to walk at 2 MPH your not disabled. The only time someone like that should be helped is in a emergency like say 9/11 or someone going on a gun rampage, fire, etc. Riding X2 isn't a emergency though. -
Oakwood Lake Manteca Waterslides
Fire2box replied to Goliath513's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Why are you bumping this Fire2box? Well I'm in/from Stockton CA and was just watching my local news and it seems waterslides MAY come back to Manteca. Also since golfland in Stockton closed down and got demolished, we lost it's waterslides, not that they looked trustworthy at all. Anyways heres a link or two explaining the situation. http://www.mantecabulletin.com/news/archive/12417/ (Dated back in march, 2010) I would post another one by News 10 (ABC) but they haven't posted anything about it on news10.net But they are doing a video story of it on the 11 PM news tonight Dec 26th, 2010. Of course if the city does get waterslides again it won't be at the original location,. Since it's underwater now due to oakwood lake expansion. It was pretty sad to see the local waterpark close down too. hopefully waterslides can/will come back and perhaps manteca can be the first city on this side of the USA to have a auqaloop. Edit: I watched the news program last night and Great Wolf Lodge wants to open a resort in Manetca. The plot of land in question is currently around the city's Costco. I am pretty amazed Great wolf lodge wants to open one here in this area and not closer to say Yosemite where the place would be a very natural fit. There aren't really any good hotel's up there and great wolf lodge would of course fit with the whole theme of Yosemite and whatnot. This also presents a problem since great wolf lodge is a hotel/indoor water park. Normally access restricted to guests of the hotel from what I understand. So if manetca city's concuil accpects this, then Great Wolf Lodge might finally open one of it's indoor water parks to the public or they might build a outside water park. Either way, I don't think great wolf lodge will really buy a auqaloop and if all goes as planed, this won't be open until 2013 or maybe 20014. Considering how wacky local politics is I am sure they would rather have another mall/stripmall then a Great Wolf Resort. Also News 10 fially put the story online, with the video as well. http://www.news10.net/news/story.aspx?storyid=113890&catid=2 -
I am guessing we shouldn't be sad when Six Flags removes revolution, gold Rusher, Colossus or even Goliath in say 10 years. From the onride POV's Big Bad Wolf seemed a bit more fun then ninja at SFMM. I can understand why that park closed BBW down, but I can understand why some people are upset. I never got to ride it, nor did I ever get to ride or even see flashback at SFMM. So of course I do have some good reason to be upset, but was I ever going to likely ride it, doubtful. ::noms on Gingerbread house wall::

There's more then a few school districts in LA and outlaying areas. I am willing to bet SFMM would look like a slow if not normal summer weekday any time during their spring break events. Anyways as long as you get to SFMM before opening and stay until closing I see no reason why you can't get a ride on every open ride (rollercoaster). Just work your way around the park in a big loop. When I was there I should have started on the right side (northern side) of the park and made a big circle. But I wanted to get a good spot for terminator so me and my dad's girlfriend rode in the very front, with no one else on the train. I was scared it was going to be a bad ride since everyone else was going for X2 or Tatsu and Dejavu.

I can see your point there. I went to SFDK like at least 5 times and SFMM twice. Season passes are totally worth it, but the park can and will most likely get old if you go there twice a month or more. Though SFDK is like, 1/4th the size of SFMM. So it happens even faster there, but then again the animal shows do change theming for Halloween and Christmas. So that's always a reason to come back as well.
