Underrated Coasters?
samisthabomb replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed! Tennessee Tornado is my favorite coaster at Dollywood. Rampage at Alabama Adventure is quite underrated. It is one of my favorite woodies out there, and I wish it and the park itself could get more publicity! -
I've tried the Double Down. It's delicious; almost an addiction No, really, they're very good!

Starting a roller coaster club at college

I agree! I try to teach my friends proper terminology because I can't even understand what they're saying! My friend Jordan was talking about Titan at Six Flags Over Texas' CORKSCREW!!! And I said, "Jordan, Titan doesn't have a corkscrew. Titan is a hypercoaster and hypercoasters don't usually have inversions." First she's like "What's an inversion?", and then she says, "There is too a corkscrew!" She finally told me what she was describing. She was describing Titan's double helix. -

I agree with Elissa: Ugh. This is horrible! I can't believe people would name their kids this! -
Here's a list of my favorites: 1) Sugar Free Red Bull 2) Mello Yello (Can't Find it Where I Live [Texas]) 3) Dr. Pepper 4) Pibb

Whats the moat random thing you have ever purchased
samisthabomb replied to zaneymon's topic in Random, Random, Random
Well, there's a three way tie with me. 1) A Hello Kitty Mini Gum Dispenser 2) A Dr. Frank-N-Furter Figurine 3) Okay, this one is really weird. It's this boy figurine, and you fill it up with water. And if you pull down his pants, it takes a leak on you! Probably the most random. -
It's not too terribly ghetto, except for the "Slow Swings". I've never seen those before. I hope it didn't cost too much to ride! Oh, and I just got back from Lake Winnie; the kids will have a blast!

I'm freaking out again... EDIT: Okay... Help me understand someone, where are the questions I need to answer?! The questions are in the Trip Reports posted by Robb. -

I haven't been to WDW for 7 or 8 years! I was unaware of all of those rides and shows in the World Showcase. Looks like I need to make a trip back over there sometime soon! Oh, and I agree, Ellen does get annoying on that ride! Great TR! -
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A woman who fell from a roller coaster at a Baton Rouge amusement park Sunday afternoon is dead. Lindsay Zeno, 21, of Lafayette was pronounced dead at a Baton Rouge hospital. According to witnesses, she fell about 30 feet from the "Xtreme" at Blue Bayou Water Park/Dixie Landin' Amusement Park around 4 p.m. The roller coaster, which opened three years ago, spins as it twists and turns along a steel track. "The thing that goes over your chest came up and she was trying to put it down, pull it back over her, when she made that turn and I guess she couldn't pull it over her because the next thing you know, she was hitting the ground," said Tabdatha Arnold. "Everybody was just staring. That was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life." Arnold claimed to be on the ride next to the "Xtreme." The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal regulates amusement parks. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning sent inspectors from his department to examine the coaster. "There were no obvious failures," Browning said. "The track is still in place. The mechanical parts of the ride are still in place. The drives, electrical, everything seems to be fine right now, so our work is going to be long and tedious." Browning said the ride was just checked out last month and no violations or mechanical problems were found. Browning said the "Xtreme" will remain closed until the investigation into the deadly fall is completed. "We're going to bring in some more of our experts over the next couple of days to physically operate this ride and put it under some test conditions, so we can understand exactly what happened. When someone dies or someone is hurt, we owe an explanation and I certainly take that responsibility very seriously," he explained. He added the manufacturer of the roller coaster will also examine the ride. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office is conducting a joint investigation with the state fire marshal's office. Dixie Landin' Amusement Park issued a statement following Sunday's tragedy. "We are all saddened by this terrible accident. An investigation by the state fire marshal's office has begun to try and determine the cause. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time." The incident was not the first at the park in which someone fell from a ride, but the victim survived last time. A two-year-old boy broke his arms and legs when he fell from a ride four years ago. According to the official investigation, Kobe Carter fell 25 feet from the "Over the Rainbow" ride on June 9, 2006. According to the lawsuit filed by the boy's parents, the park claimed children younger than 8 or shorter than 48 inches tall could ride with a parent. The boy's parents said no height requirements were posted when the accident happened. Coincidentally, that ride had also been in operation about three years at the time of the fall. Days before that incident, Diana Landry of St. Tammany Parish file a lawsuit was filed over the "Conja" ride. "The raft landed and the force from the speed of the raft caused the passenger in the seat in front of Ms. Landry to be thrown forward and then backwards, causing her head to strike Ms. Landry in the face," the suit stated. It claimed the ride was not equipped with any safety restraints, belts, harness and/or protective equipment to prevent an accident of this nature. Dollywood Question
samisthabomb replied to coaster mindy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just recently got back from Dollywood. It's a great park; you'll have a blast! A good and cheap hotel choice is Guest House International. It is not very far from Dollywood, and the rooms average around about $60 a night! I didn't stay there (We got a cabin!), but I know it has a pool and an A+ on cleanliness. Judging by the time you chose to go, the park will be VERY busy! The smarter thing to do would be to go on a Wednesday and Thursday. Get the "Q2Q" line jumping pass. You still have to wait a few minutes, but you don't have to wait in line! "Q2Q" is very convenient! You can also reserve shows, which I highly recommend doing, as the reserved seat are in the front rows! Well, that's all the advice I have for now. Have a fun trip! -
What is your favorite launch coaster?
samisthabomb replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been on two launch coasters, sadly. They are: Mr. Freeze @ Six Flags Over Texas Rock n' Roller Coaster @ Walt Disney World Florida (MGM Studios) Even though I have only been on two, Mr. Freeze is my favorite. -
