  1. They know at this point what will replace SOB. There is no reason to suddenly decide now is the time to take the ride down without having a plan in place going forward. I would expect an announcement around this time next year.
  2. PTC no longer recommends that their trains run backwards, and in Ohio, by law, parks must follow the manufacture's recomendations.
  3. Michigan's Adventure is also B&M-less.
  4. While on the shorter side, it looks like a good first step for RMCC. The first drop looks like it will be insane and the almost roll/dive thingy looks like it will be a great element. I can't wait to see the announcement and get out to SDC and ride this thing.
  5. Under Paramount I would agree. Tomb Raider, Flight of Fear, and SOB were all certainly high risk/high reward installations and two of them failed rather miserably. Under Cedar Fair, especially over the next couple of years where we begin to see installations that were planned by current management, I would expect to see the vast majority of rides to be reliable, proven technologies.
  6. Yeah I think that announcement is coming next week lol
  7. They did indeed test them on Raven, though I don't know if I've ever heard anything about the park considering using them on the ride. Video of said test: http:
  8. It depends, if you are there to ride everything once and then just take laps on Diamondback and Beast the rest of the day then Fast Lane probably won't be necessary. If you want to ride Firehawk or Invertigo 15 times then yeah it would be a good investment. To the best of my knowledge they will refill cups from past seasons. (Though I don't own one personally).
  9. ^I think it will very closely mirror last year. One giant coaster installation, a couple of smaller ones, dinos, and maybe even something to help people in a couple markets cool off. There is also that last Windseeker still waiting for a home. To be fair, I can kind of see why it might feel that way since the big project (CP's Wingrider) is already out of the bag. $25 million is a big chunk of the $70-$80 CF has been spending each year in cap ex. However, I think there will be a few more things to get excited about for certain parks.
  10. Attendance up 2%, hotel and non-park revenue up 2%, and per cap spending up 4%. Sounds like a good start to the year. Link
  11. Thanks! Really appreciate the comments. ************************************************************************************************************************** Season 8: Revolution Preview Day! Today was preview day for our new ride Revolution! Season passholders got chance to come to the park a week early and check out our awesome new attraction. The reviews couldn't have been better. Just one more week to make sure you get your season pass so you too can enjoy all the fun coming up this year. An over view of the new 'All-American Plaza'. Revolution is the focal point of course. There are also some new restrooms as well. Our preview riders loved it!
  12. Nice report, I actually like the reports where people give their opinions on the rides/parks/food/etc. so thanks for that! Can't wait to see the rest.
  13. Yet another example of why Holiday World is one of the best parks in the country. How many CF or Six Flags parks would have gone to this much trouble? http://www.themeparkfoodie.net/post/25404757863/holidayworldboilorder
  14. Another great season is coming to a close here at Reynold's Park. Thank you to everyone who made our 7th year such a great success! We have some big plans for the coming years and can't wait to share them all with you! Don't forget to renew your season passes for next year. Season pass holders will have a special preview day for Revolution next spring. See you then! - Vincent Scott The bakery was packed today! The line was all the way out the door! Everyone should give our top notch maintenance staff a big thank you when you see them. Lots of families enjoying a few final rides to end the season. Can't forget the thrillseekers too!
  15. Well at least the local scrap yards will see a boost in revenue.
  16. 1. Ride in the front on either train and it isn't an issue. Most reports have the ride running great this year all around. 2. YES! The waterpark can very busy even through the week. Go to Mammoth first and then over to Wildebeest. Zoombabwe, Zinga, and Bukali will also get lines pretty quickly after opening. 3. As stated above, Legend has a lot of laterals but I wouldn't call it rough at all. Ride Raven in the back. 4. If you get there at opening I would go to Voyage first and ride a few times before the waterpark opens. Then go to the waterpark at opening. The lines for the dry side really start to thin out after lunch. All three coasters are usually less than a 15-20 min wait (Raven and Legend are often much shorter) by 1:30 or 2:00. 5. Literally can be found on their website: http://www.holidayworld.com/visit/driving-directions#nash 6. There are some right to the left when you enter the park and some inside the waterpark as well (to the left after you go down the ramp next to Amazoom). 7. All three coasters have bins for loose articles. 8. Enjoy your trip, it is an awesome park with great rides, a world class waterpark, and one of (if not the) the nicest staffs in the business.
  17. It would appear that Diamondback has re-opened, according to the park webcam.
  18. Cedar Fair is really going out of their way this week to extend the amount of time their guests spend in the parks this week!
  19. I think it is important to have at least one thing that makes the park stand out, the thing its known for if you will. Be it outstanding shows, food, or a unique ride/coaster. To use the example from above Michigan's Adventure, though lacking in some areas as a park, has Shivering Timbers that a lot of people have at least heard of. The Beast at KI is probably a better example. Even if you have never been to KI if you live within 200 miles of the park there is a very good chance you have heard of it. Dollywood's cinnamon bread could be another example.
  20. A REVOLUTION OF THRILL COMING TO REYNOLD'S PARK NEXT SPRING! Reynold's Park is excited to announce the addition of Revolution an exhilarating new thrill ride coming to next spring! Revolution will take riders on an adrenaline fueled 2 minute ride reaching heights of more than 100 feet. That's not all - riders will be spinning the entire time! Revolution will be the corner stone of the all new 'All American Plaza'. This new area will more of the parks signature greenery, as well as Revolution and all new restroom facilities. Revolution will feature an American flag themed ride pad that will look stunning from the air. Revolution will be manufactured by HUSS rides out of Bremen, Germany. Artist's Rendering.
  21. I haven't been to KD but they are playing the Star Trek theme (among other songs) on the Windseeker at CP, so its certainly possible.
  22. Just got a notification that Diamondback will be down through next Friday for "routine maintenance". There had been some rumblings during its downtime a few days ago of some sort of structural issue near the mcbr. Hopefully whatever the issue is its fixed quickly and without farther problems.
  23. The drop out of the turn around on Shivering Timbers is great in the back couple rows.
