  1. About the only thing going for you is that it is early in the haunt season. Saturday's during haunt tend to be extremely crowded. I always recommend getting there and checking out the crowds before deciding to buy a fast/fright pass but if history is any indication it will prolly be necessary to get everything done in one night.
  2. From Holiday World's Facebook page: They have said that this IS NOT about the Timberliners. Link
  3. This is the big one here in Indy. http://www.darkarmies.com/necropolis-haunted-house/
  4. Looks like the dinos are heading to Dorney. southwhitehall.patch.com/articles/dorney-park-discloses-plan-for-dinosaur-park
  5. The parks are six hours apart. They serve completely different markets. Cedar Fair owns properties that are much closer together then these two parks and don't see them as in contention with each other. Kings Island and Cedar Point, Cedar Point and Michigan's Adventure, even Dorney and Kings Dominion are all closer together then Knotts and CGA. CGA wasn't turning the profits CF needed to keep the park viable. They were having a hell of a time getting the appropriate approvals to add the types of attractions they wanted and, most importantly, they didn't (and would never) own the land the park was on. It was a good move for CF and hopefully it works out well for CGA too.
  6. At $5 a ticket that would mean 4-5 million people went through...which is 1-2 million more people then visited the park total in 2010. I have heard that they have indeed turned a profit this year but it was nowhere near $20-$25 million.
  7. Knott's is owned by Cedar Fair (the company that owns California's Great America, Cedar Point, and Kings Island among others) and is based out of Sandusky, OH.
  8. I think this will turn out to be a great addition to Kings Island. The water park is always fairly crowded during the peak summer months. Is it a 'flashy' addition, no not really (especially for thrill junkies), but I think it will be a great addition for the long term vitality of the park. The way that the paths are shown in the concept drawings it seems like there are a few spots that could be used to add new slides complexes in the coming years.
  9. Looks really fun! Great use of an already existing structure. The only downside is capacity, I can see this having some LONG waits next year.
  10. Yeah, I'm sure it will be a walk on all day every day.
  11. I think the new giga looks awesome...but I'd rather have a forceful B&M invert at KI then a B&M giga. (Prolly in the minority there though.)
  12. For whatever reason Vortex seems to always be the last of the major rides to shut down when bad weather rolls in.
  13. As long as you stick to the very front row Voyage rides just as well as it did its first season (imo)...any other row...well...not so much.
  14. ^Its great to hear you had such a good time! The Diamondback crew is one of the top crews I have encountered at any park.
  15. There is indeed a single rider line for Wildebeest but both times I have been to HW this year it seemed to open an close somewhat randomly throughout the day.
  16. Tomb Raider Italian Job Top Gun Sky Rider The Bat Dragon Fire I worded that poorly. I should have said parks don't market their rides as similar to other rides. They want their new rides to be seen as exciting and unique.
  17. Personally I would think CW wouldn't want anyone saying that their new ride was similar to anything else. Parks want their rides to be the "first/tallest/fastest/most exciting/perfect for families/etc" not "kinda like that other ride." As for what it is...I would be thrilled to see B&M jump into the giga business. It would seem odd however to add another B&M airtime machine so soon. This would have to be similar in design to Raging Bull to make sense. Should be fun to watch this unfold.
  18. Found an interesting (or maybe not at all interesting) quote from an interview with Jeff Pike from GCI. When asked if he still visits Kings Island he replied: "They’re customers of Great Coasters now, and I still get a little bit of that magic when I go back." (The whole interview is a pretty interesting read.) What project was/is GCI involved in at KI? Full Interview
  19. Holiday World will (hopefully) always be a family oriented park. Sitting around wishing for an Intamin hyper or a 500 foot inverted aquatrax will always be wishful enthusiast thinking. HW has done a great job cementing its reputation among enthusiasts, but we will never be their (or any park's) bread and butter. Families are where the money is and families is who they are aiming for. Splashin' Safari is a family magnet and without its draw Voyage would be nothing more then a dream. Personally I love watching HW grow and prosper and I think they have really shown, over the past decade especially, that they really know how to ensure that that continues to happen.
  20. Despite all the crappy reviews from enthusiasts about DA, all indications (including Kinzels comments during the conference call yesterday) are that it has been an absolute cash cow for KI this year. I went through once this year, and honestly prolly will never do it again, but I'm a 25 year old with no kids who was never much of a dinosaur freak. Everyone I know with children have all said that their kids think its the greatest thing ever.
  21. ^Yes, but if you ask for a certain row the ride op assigning seats will generally grant your request. (I have never once been denied a row I have asked for but have heard stories from others who have once or twice.)
