Mechanically the ride isn't capable of running its original program for an entire season anymore. That's the reason it was changed to begin with. The maintenance costs and downtime were simply getting to be too much. As has been stated here and elsewhere before, there is a reason its the world's only giant top spin.

^That's something a number of Cedar Fair parks are taking part in this year. Carowinds (I believe) tried to set the record for most people coloring easter eggs for example.

CP I agree 100% but the only rides that this would be useful on at KI are Firehawk and Flight of Fear. Everything else either eats people pretty well (Beast, Diamondback, Vortex) or never has a line (Flight Deck, Racer). I'm pretending Invertigo doesn't exist, same as I do when I visit the park, lol. Very excited to see what Matt can do for CF. A very inspired and (IMO) wise choice.

^Robb was pointing out that Intamin took a ton of flak last year for all their STR troubles but that people seem to giving Mondial a free pass on the delay of the Windseekers.

Looks like a fun start to the trip! I can't wait to see the rest.

^ Did they not give you the row you requested? I have never seen them tell anyone who asks for the front that they couldn't wait for it. And yes, at the bottom of the first three drops it certainly has a very noticable rattle.

While I don't know what the exact figures are, CF reported in one their conference calls that MA broke its annual attendance record last year so I imagine they are doing alright for a park their size.

^...No, I'm not sure where you are getting the 10 years thing from. Dick Kinzel has stated that CF is currently trying to sell the park to the 49ers. The quote from him is on page 170 of this thread.

Just to be clear, the NFL lockout in no way prevents the 49ers from continuing their plans for a new stadium. The day to day functions of the teams can go on as normal. It is simply that they are not allowed to have any interaction with their players/draft picks/free agents. Any business dealings that teams or league have with other parties (i.e. the City of Santa Clara, Cedar Fair) can continue as normal. As has been stated in this thread, Cedar Fair is activly looking to sell CGA to the 49ers.

The unnecessary praise of the current leadership at SIX should not go unnoticed. That was a very interesting tidbit that Q included. Were they simply taking another jab at Mr. Kinzel, or is there perhaps some merit to the rumor that Q would be more then a little interested in merging the two companies if (when?) they manage to take control of CF.

The ride has had its share of problems pretty much since opening. There is a reason that HUSS only built one giant top spin. It is widely suspected that the orignal ride program and water effects took a toll on the ride. It suffered from extensive downtime basically until the current two flip cycle was introduced. The theming and ride cycle when it opened as Tomb Raider were incredible, literally (IMO) on par with many Disney or Universal experiences. Obviously the liscense for Tomb Raider left when CF took over and CF attempted to make up for the 'de-theme' of the ride by introducing a more intense nine flip cycle. However this just caused greater amounts of downtime and the two flip cycle was introduced.

It is the entrance to The Crypt (HUSS Giant Top Spin) ride chamber. When it opened as Tomb Raider: The Ride there was a door that closed off the ride chamber from the rest of the que so that those waiting could not see the ride before boarding. When CF took over and had to 'de-theme' the ride the door was removed so that those waiting to board could see the ride in action. This picture shows the new door installed this off season.

CF has openly said that they are trying to sell the park to the team (or owners of the team). The speculation would then be that the park would be shut down and the land used for other purposes by the team. The team couldn't care less what the park has left in it when they buy because they have no intent for using it for that purpose. CF gets the rides it wants to/are economical to move, thus lowering the asking price for the park. The team pays less for whats left of the park - both sides (in theory) win.

It may if you are trying to make sure you have an attractive selling price for a certain NFL team owner...
