  1. Prince Desmond's favorite ride at Geauga Lake got a major retracking and paint job a year or two before the park closed so I wouldn't read to much into that.
  2. Judging from Grizzly's there isn't much justification to having one!
  3. Indiana Beach Announces Adventure Point For 2011! From the season pass page it looks like these new attractions will not be included in a 'normal' ride wristband. The park currently has season passes listed at $59.95 and 'Adventure Passes' for sale at $99.95. More info at http://www.indianabeach.com/pages/indianabeach_adventure_point MOD EDIT: Thank you for posting this info. The moderators will turn news threads into Discussion Threads for the park when the original news has died down. The official Discussion Thread will have additional links and info about to park that is in a manner consistent with other Discussion Threads.
  4. ^Not that they are direct competitors but CF also owns Knott's, which I would certainly classify as a 'real investment'.
  5. Except they don't own the land it sits on. If they do indeed sell the park they may very well owe the city a hefty little settlement for terminating their lease early.
  6. ^ I would bet that a big part of that is capacity. B&M's are generally people eaters...especially when compared to Vekoma shuttles. I think CF has decided that CGA just is not going to be profitable in its current state. There are a lot of challenges that come with having a park on leased land (ask Kentucky Kingdom about that) add in the neighbors noise worries and it makes for a difficult environment to run the type of park CF is looking for.
  7. The land the park is on is leased from the city (through 2039 I believe) but it is my understanding that CF owns all the rides in the park and is free to do what they want with them. Whether or not there is anything of any value left when/if it is sold is probably a sign of what sort of plans the 49ers would have for it. If Flight Deck, Vortex, etc, are taken out prior to a sale to the 49ers, then it is probably a good bet that the team does not intend to continue to run the park. I am sure that CF will get whatever they can out of there before offloading it, especially if the buyer has other uses in mind for the land.
  8. Just thought I would post these comments that Kinzel gave in an interview after the conference call a couple weeks ago. It looks like current (which could be the key word here going forward) management doesn't have high hopes for CGA. The company took a $64.2 million impairment charge for 2010 on CGA, according to their fourth quarter conference call. The full article can be read here: http://www.wksu.org/news/story/27583 The fourth quarter conference call press release can be read here: http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/press_releases/index.cfm?current_root=15&mode=story&story_id=281
  9. Well there goes all hope of getting any work done tonight! This is just awesome guys! EDIT: One thing I did notice under "Top Attractions" for Beech Bend Looping Star is listed, which I believed closed in 2009. ^MOD EDIT: Fixed, thank you
  10. I got 2011 off to an awesome start with my first ever visit to Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure in January. King's Island opening day is up next. I am also a Six Flags pass holder for the first time this year and have a road trip planned to make my first visits to Worlds of Fun and Six Flags St. Louis in May. Trips to Six Flags Great America, and Cedar Point are also booked! We take family trips each year to Michigan's Adventure and Holiday World, and I also plan on getting back to Indiana beach for more rides on Cornball Express!
  11. Let's see... - First tip to Cedar Point last June. - First rides on Shivering Timbers, Maverick, Cornball Express, and Voyage (and having all of them live up to the hype). - Some crazy fun car rides on the way to Indiana Beach and Cedar Point. - Crowding under a picnic area in Splashin' Safari during a thunderstorm and watching Liberty Launch get hit by lightning. It was certainly a great year!
  12. Possibly the long rumored expansion of x-base/new area connecting Coney and X-Base? I'm kinda surprised they posted this already (if it is indeed a first hint of what's to come for 2012) considering they have a new multimillion dollar ride that hasn't opened yet.
  13. Noooooooooooooo! King's Island calls dibs on Flight Deck! I think the logical move would be to put it at Valleyfair...but this is Cedar Fair so it I think we can eliminate the most logical option right?
  14. I suppose, but it's a full circuit non-family invert. And it has to be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Invertigo lol.
  15. Had Q not stepped up and put an end to Apollo's aquisition of CF there are many who believe that we would all be reading about the CF/SFI merger. Q's reaction to today's events should give a little more insight on whether they are in it to make a quick buck or are looking to be a player at CF for the long haul.
  16. It should be noted that these were non-binding resolutions and that the spokeswoman for Cedar Fair has been very quick to point out that fact in various articles/interviews this week. In short, the board could simply ignore the results of today's votes if it so desired. It will be interesting to see how Kinzel and company react to this and if they do indeed respect the results. This whole Q mess is far from over.
  17. I rode it for the first time this past Saturday. I fall into the the 'horrible ride' camp for sure. From the bottom of the first drop I could tell that it was going to be a very bumpy ride. I was in the last row for my only ride of the day. The non-inverting loop was a cool element and I would love to ride a B&M or Intamin version. After that however, it was just jerky. There were some positive g's in spots but no real airtime at all. Hopefully I can get back down there sometime and experience it on a good day. Fun element...not so fun ride.
  18. I'll give this a go as well. Good luck to everyone!
  19. This was going to be my suggestion when I read your original post. While I have never been to Silver Dollar City, my family has taken a few trips to the Branson area and there really is something for everyone there.
  20. *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone that has taken the time to follow this park so far. 1000+ views for my first park on TPR is more then I expected for sure. I have been in the middle of Christmas celebrations this week and I am headed out of vacation next week. Regular updates for the park will return on Sunday, January 10th with the announcement of the park's third coaster. Thank you so much for your support! *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
  21. As we come to the end of another great season I wanted to take some time to thank everyone for supporting Reynold's Park. We appreciate your continued support over the years. We take our responsibility as the area's leading family attraction very seriously and we are so thankful that so many of you have continued to come out and visit us. We will have a new lineup of shows for the Village Theater announced soon so be sure to keep checking the website! Vincent K Scott -President It is always fun to visit the park at night. Scrambler looks great all lit up. So does Zephyr!
  22. Families have been raving about the brand new Palace Gardens! We have seen a nice boost in attendance this year compared to this time last year. I have a meeting with a group people from Cincinnati today about a very exciting possible future project... Enjoy the picture update for today! Vincent Scott -President Even with the new addition SkyRider hasn't lost any popularity. Looking down the main pathway of Palace Garden. The Kid's Complex is still very popular with the little ones. I'll leave you today with an on ride shot from Zephyr!
  23. Cedar Fair has filed the presentation they intend to show at the Unitholder's meeting on January 11, 2011. Cedar Fair Presentation This is certainly shaping up to be a very interesting meeting.
  24. Season 6: I got a special treat today - I got to spend some time in the park with my own family. We have all been together a few times before but having the new Palace Gardens to stroll through really adds another level to the experience. Here are a few of the photos we took today. Vincent Scott -President Lots of people were enjoying a ride on Zephyr. The Wonder Wheel was busy most of the day too. After a quick stop for a snack, we finished our day with a round of mini-golf at Reynold's Park GC.
