  1. Sorry, couldn't resist one more...you can insert your own caption.
  2. Whats your price point? If the sky's the limit, staying onsite has it's perks for non pass holders such as getting in an hour early.
  3. I can't subscribe to the ADHD/ADD debate, but what I can do is express that I dislike people with broken legs, inability to walk long distances, wearing a heart monitor, etc being allowed to bypass the lines. People who need the use of wheel chair etc should, IMO, have to wait in line just as long as everyone else. Sure, they may need to come up the exit as it's a ramp, or use the lift/elevator, but should be treated like everyone else. If the line is 20 minutes, they wait 20 minutes. There is nothing more irritating to me than to watch a person who gets up off their little rascal and walks to the front of train with their entire 10 member family in tow. I've honestly thought about renting one of those and say I can't walk far and bring a few friends to "help" me. Just my opinion.
  4. Well this is disappointing news. Dancer from the "Fantasy" show at the Luxor is missing. I've seen the show with her performing and can say I hope she shows up not only just because, but also as she helped "make" the show a show. Fox
  5. Fantastic! Looking forward to the rest!
  6. ^ yep, at 313 feet high, i think it's one of if not the tallest S&S towers. Sure its a little unnerving for first timers on a drop tower, but all in all its not bad, and certainly not as intense IMO as it was when it first opened.
  7. So what's at SFOT that would justify Bert the Conqueror filming for two days this week? Judge Roy Scream? Titan? Superman Power of Tower? Batman and Mr Freeze are down so that can't be it, I'm at a loss on this one other than Titan and Superman. Maybe Yosemite Sam?
  8. I beleive Jeff Johnson would count this as a new credit, as will I come the NE trip!

  10. Will Prince Desmond make it to see his beloved Big Dipper in time to save it? You'll have to read to find out. After getting directions from his Dippin Dot's co-workers, he set a course for Ohio. Unfortunatley, the Dippin Dots guy sent him to Portland instead of Cleveland. I suppose they do look similar... So, the Prince bought a map and made it to Cleveland in time to take the Browns to the Super Bowl After he helped to flush out the enemy, he asked for help finding the big dipper. Unfortunatley for him, they took him to the wrong big dipper. And much like it's counterpart, this dipper is in pretty bad shape. So what will Prince Desmond do next? The world may never know.
  11. Well, I thought I would give everyone a little re-cap on my version of where in the world is Prince Desmond. I'm not going to re-post the pic's, so if you haven't yet visited this thread, I would highly recommend starting from the beginning. There are many many quality photos to look at from several members. So, here we go. Note: my stuff starts on page three 1. After getting kicked out of IPPIPPA (get it, haha) Prince D needed much stress relief and made his way to Amsterdam 2. After finishing his stay after only 10 minutes, he decided it was time to continue searching for the best possible place to move the big rolling coaster to and ended up in Iraq 3. After finding what he thought was the best place, he moved up the road a bit to bang balls with his favorite tennis greats in Dubai. Maybe DubaiDave got an autographed PrinceD tennis ball, if he did, it's worth $384 4. Prince D needed a disguise, so he dawned a video camera and patch jacket 5. He then went to the Vatican, AKA Buca to pray for money to help build the big dipping coaster 6. After praying, he was told by the Pope table to make his way to a big fund raising event at the world bank 7. He then transported to the underground to see his beloved dead cat 8. Using a tunnel from the underground that he thought led to America, he discovered he was still on the Mexico side of the border. So he hired some coyotes to help him cross 9. Spoof 10. Once he crossed the border, he went to a golf course in Arizona and won the tourney to help raise money to rebuild the big dipper 11. Obama was vacationing in Arizona so he stopped by to say hello and ask for hope 12. While he thought he found the Big Dipper, something he's never ever seen in person before, he was mistaken, but figured he'd save the Coaster Dips as well. 13. Prince D then went to California to talk with some coaster wheel manufacturers about getting his face wrapped on wheels 14. After recovering from the massive headache from his head spinning around on an arrow coaster, he flew over to las vegas where he met Penn and Teller and sang for money 15. Still not sure what happened after the contest 16. He tried to draw a crowd after the Chris Angel Cirque show by levitating above the Luxor, hoping to raise money, but no one cared 17. He then drove to LA where he began work on the set of SYTYCD making any extra money he can to fund his beloved project. So that leaves me with just two more installments, the last installment I will post later today/tonight Prince Desmond got a job working as a Dippin Dots guy, it's here where he would learn everything he needed to know about building rolly coasters he then went to Knott's Berry Farm where he tried out to be part of the windseeker promotional video, this guy is amazing, no job to big or small for man wanting to raise money He got the address of a Robb Alvey from the Dippin Dots guy, unfortunatley when he got there, the place was on fire. Even sadder for him, he discovered that the people he wants to be like had moved and left no forwarding address So he got a job in maintenance at SFMM to earn earn enough money to make the trip to the place they call Ohio, and to learn everything he can about rolling coasters
  12. I know that the effects rides have on one person versus another vary greatly, but I for one, didn't have any intensity issues pre or post trims, something I've mentioned before. Haven't rode with the soft restraints and wish I had as I suspect those helped out in the twisties. So, now I am thinking I will need to take the train down after the NE trip and give it a whirl, that, and spend a day at Virginia Beach, really like that place. I anticipate personally I will rather enjoy the wider turn as I'm a fan of low, fast, wide turns that switch to intense oh crap sections which is what this will do even better than before. While this ride should place high in this year's polls, with this mod, it should rank even higher
  13. ^ Prince Desmond and TPR own Google! So, here are a few more options for everyone to look through Prince Desmond sings for money to save the big dipper not sure what happend after the contest... Prince Desmond then went to levitate to earn money to save the big dipper He's even signed on with Fox to provide censorship for So You Think You Can Dance when needed. This man will do anything to save the big dipper!
  14. so i was trying to come up with ideas for new Prince D action and just out of pure randomness did a pic search for Prince Desmond. This is what I found notice anything/one familiar here?
  15. Something tells me SF will spend as much time as needed to tweak the ride out before it's opened. Even with the track tweaks that will need to be done before they push, they should still end up with a considerable amount of time vs I305 for test and tune before the start of the season(as long as the weather hold up). If it's not ready by the first of March, so beit. I'd rather ride something thats done right, i.e. brakes adjusted, lift speed acurate, sensors reporting correctly, computer up to speed, etc, than something that's rushed into play. I suppose that's why they haven't made a big to do about any first rider auctions yet, when they know for certain, they will say.
  16. ^ Aria reminds me of an upscale Indian Casino, so I'm not too surprised Cosmo is way better. It's probably a good thing Echelon is still standing still, this way, should they ever restart that project, they will learn from others mistakes.
  17. when I saw this, I thought, what an idiot. There are some casinos that take RFID to an extreme and put it in all of their chips. Why you ask? Well, coupled with a proper wireless network (one where multiple AP's are used, meshed together, and provide for a strong signal throughout the area) the chips can be inventoried at anytime and location always known. The casino uses this information to know when a chip has left the property and when it re-enters the property. Many businesses use this technique as well to track inventory of items, very popular in hospitals where maintenance on equipment is a must. The maintenance date comes due, a report is ran and shows exactly where it is on site. Pretty cool actually. Being this guy seems to be quite the idiot. I have a casino story I can share. The company I worked for had been trying hard to update their software and equipment. I had been involved with QA testing and whatnot with the bill acceptors. One neat function that was being introduced at the time was the ability to detect counterfeit bills. When the counterfeit bill was detected, the machine locked up and displayed a message on the screen indicating a suspect bill. The casino would remove the cash box and examine the bill. The system was hit and miss (meaning some false positives due to older or badly worn bills) but mostly hit. This particular property had a person with a fifty dollar bill that registered as fake. The patron stuck around complaining that the machine was malfunctioning, his money was good, and drawing attention to himself, I assume, thinking the casino would refund his money. He proceeded to argue and plead with floor personnel and security. I was phoned for clarification of the system by the gaming control board. Upon clarification, they examined the bill on the floor with the marshal service and sure enough it was fake. He went to jail, turned out, his wallet was full of them. Bottom line, casino's have to protect themselves, internal and external, and using technology is just one of many methods used. You'd think some of these idiots would wake up and realize this
  18. Ok, so I've been digesting the current test model and that it doesn't include three of the coasters. After digesting it, I came to the realization of the possibility of it not being offered for those three at this time is due to the queue layouts. Coming up the exit ramp to Xcelerator would mess up the mojo of keeping the line moving, same for Monte. These are things that all have to be considered when going full out. Thoughts?
  19. so with the very probable change in the queue design, one wonders if they will move the flashpass entrance as well . I'm guessing not as they generally control the number of people allowed on the platform at the entrance to allow for pass holders to walk up and on within a few trains.
  20. The coastercon pic confirms what I could see from the fence, that the rails on bays 1 & 3 haven't been installed yet.
  21. The Prince has entered into a new business venture, selling coaster wheels cast as him i HAvE MY FACe On ROLLE COASTER WHEELS tO PromoTE BIG DIPPIng
  22. I actually miss the boardwalk casino, much more character than the death ray that's there now.
  23. ^ this is totally random, but speaking of spring break, when is it in general in Cali?
  24. ^ agree. the low to the ground gives a better sense of speed, Prowler can speak to that, and since sustained speed is what this ride is all about (ok maybe the twisty's too) widening the turn seems to be the best and most logical option.
