  1. ^You got to pet a cheetah?! That is super-cool! As are these new trains. The design of the lead car really is exceptionally well done.
  2. The Win Fairy just smacked me upside the head with her wand and I'm feeling mighty fine.
  3. ^I feel and share your pain, man. It really is a shame that The Beast wants to do more than its structure/roadbed can reliably tolerate. Again, "perfect world" scenario: Let Intamin put the entire course through a thorough CAD workout, get a reprofile designed, and throw down "prefab" track to make The Beast an El Toro-esque bad boy. And while we're at it, I'd like Brooklyn Decker for Christmas, too.
  4. ^LOL! Yeah, I guess I'm not that much of a purist. My "perfect world" solution for The Beast would be that the park invested whatever is necessary to bring it back to its former glory, as a woodie. But I'd much rather have a great ride experience, no matter what "technology" is used to create it, over a mediocre one that is kept mediocre for the sake of "original intent." And if "Iron Horsing" The Beast is the more cost-effective, long-term solution for that ride, I'm all for it. Especially if it means a steeper, untrimmed first drop, etc., etc., etc.
  5. You got that right. I'm telling you, if The New Texas Giant turns out to be a resounding success, I'm hoping that we're going to see a bunch of these revamps happening very soon. Getting The Beast back into full-speed performance would be a wondrous thing. (And no lights in the freaking tunnels, man!!! )
  6. On the subject of "older" coaster riders and their preferences: I guess I must now include myself as an "older" enthusiast. Still feel pretty young inside, but bruises don't quite heal as fast as they used to. The Voyage is my number 1 woodie, and I rode it last two years ago. Don't know if it's gotten much rougher since then, but it was pretty insane in '09. Love that thing to death. If you don't tense up and go with the flow, it seems to stay on the "fun" side of rough; at least it did for me. Just totally out of control. El Toro is a very, very close second. Could ride that thing all day long, non-stop. Brilliant. For what it's worth. "Old" doesn't necessarily mean "no longer likes a little tough-love with my woodies." And now I've got to go cinch my pants-waist up around my ribcage. And "Wheel of Fortune" is about to start, so keep it down, you crazy kids.
  7. [rocking back and forth on the floor in the fetal position] "WCB in just a few more weeks... WCB in just a few more weeks... WCB in just a few more weeks..."
  8. Well, that's it; this report officially moved "Cheetah Hunt" to the top of my "must ride" list for 2011. Awesome work, thanks so much! Sorry, New Texas Giant! (You're still a close second )
  9. These new pix look great; don't know when I'll be back to ride I305 again, but I have little doubt it will still kick serious boo-tay. BTW, went to cast my vote for Timmy and took a look at the other nominees... what is up with that ridiculous image they've got for Kennywood's Skyrocket?
  10. ^Totally agree. $1,100 per person seems like a steal, especially after looking at these mouthwatering pictures. You should add a disclaimer at the head of each of these updates: WARNING! DO NOT LOOK AT THESE PHOTOS IF YOU ARE HUNGRY AND/OR LATE FOR A MEAL! YOU WILL REGRET IT! And that "Rising Tide" bar? Genius.
  11. Very entertaining report; thanks! As is said all the time around here, these updates from little-seen places are extra-tasty. And don't ask me why, but garishly colored woodies just make my day. This Cyclone is super-cool.
  12. What were the unique construction/engineering challenges posed by this terrain-hugging layout, if any? (Follow-up question: please let us know that something like this, but even more awesomer, is coming to BGW!1!1!11!!1! I keed, of course... ) EDIT: I really wanted to make a joke about "needing a pull through" but couldn't think of one that would be all-ages-appropriate...
  13. STELLAR report. All the amusement stuff was great but the Burj Khalifa pix and info were my crack hit for the day. Every time I'm reminded that the tower is HALF A MILE tall, I nearly soil myself.
  14. Great report as always, and regarding the content of future reports: too much is never enough.
  15. This sounds a bit like a mini-Cheetah Hunt and I'm totally cool with that.
  16. Awesome report; really psyched for what's coming next. As "unfinished" or as "sub-EPCOT" as Ferrari World may be, it still looks about 20 times cooler than Six Flags Autoworld. It's just one of those places that I'm going to have to visit at least once, if for nothing else than that incredible building. And Formula Rossa. Also loved learning that a Testarossa is a "poor man's car" in Dubai. My kind of town! [bTW, for those who aren't aware, "Testarossa" is Italian for "red head," which makes it twice as badass.)
  17. The leap over the sky ride? Yeah, that just added another 100 points of sex-win to this thing. Freaking awesome photos, please keep them coming!
  18. Hard Rock/Freestyle Music Park can't make it more than a couple of seasons, and Monkey Jungle is still around, charging 30 bucks a pop...
  19. When I hear things like this, I want to cry. I know there have been whisperings over the years about tackling all sorts of lost coasters (even the Crystal Beach Cyclone), and to think we'd come fairly close to getting a new Aeroplane... wow. Seems to me that would be a walk in the park, so to speak, for GCI...
  20. I think the Aeroplane coaster has to be one of top ten great lost woodies... Looks so freaking awesome. It would be truly heinous to close this beautiful park. They had better not. Thanks for this great update!
  21. Very interested to hear some early rider reactions to this. Big, wide lift hills get my mojo working, for reasons unknown...
  22. Great reports; really enjoying these... Again, making me miss WDW very, very much.
  23. It's this attraction, more than any of the coasters, that really calls to me, badly.
  24. With all the hate I've been hearing over the years about this park's incredibly poor operations, it's almost become enticing... just to witness the awfulness first-hand...
  25. Regarding similar coasters next to one another (and Geauga Lake): weren't that park's Double Loop and Corkscrew pretty much near each other? Always kind of loved that bizarre semi-redundancy...
