I hope someone who knows the truth behind it all will someday come forward and explain the thinking behind "Rollercoaster Cuts." Did the management at the time REALLY believe that was a good way to "extend the brand?" Can't be, can it? There MUST have been some other reason. As Elissa mentioned, keeping someone's wife/girlfriend/mistress busy is far more plausible. The mind reels.

That Autoworld logo is pretty noxious. Still, it has a certain '80s theme park logo charm.

This figure-8 element is a work of sculptural art. Seriously, if I saw this in a museum, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm awed.

^Yeah, Viper may not be the smoothest coaster at SFMM, but it was surprisingly fun last year. (And WAY less painful than Revolution...) That first inversion is freakin' tall.

Because of his tireless efforts to save the Big Dipper, the American Astronomical Society has named a new constellation after him, adjacent to... well, of course...

I'm not sure the world is ready for that...

It's now official: this is the one "must ride" coaster of 2011 for me. Don't know when, don't know how, but I'm getting to Texas. As for the sounds this might make, I'd imagine that CP's Gemini would be the thing to listen to as a guide? Been so long since I've ridden that coaster that I don't recall any defining characteristics...

Nice report; had NO IDEA they'd grinched out the spinning tunnel tram deal. (And just for the record, no matter what they're calling it these days, that tunnel is REALLY the "Six Million Dollar Man Secret of Bigfoot Episode Ice Cave Tunnel" and always will be.)

^Cool. Can't say that I'm a huge fan of swingin' boat rides, but take any ride and add onboard music/sound fx, and I'm there. This really does look like a very cool park all around (no pun intended).

The vast majority of these beautiful shots would make such kick-ass Xmas cards! Plus, I love that their "pirate ship" has on-board audio! Is that a first of some kind?

^Yeah, that is some sweet figure-8 goodness! Add another voice to the chorus: this is going to be a fine-looking coaster. Any ride whose SUPPORTS get people excited is doing something right.
