The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
CorkscrewFoley replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant for me were Backlot Stunt Coaster at CW. I figured I would get the cred, and go over and bust my B&M hyper cherry on Behemoth...which was another pleasant surprise. To the poster who mentioned Leviathan as an unpleasant, I actually found it enjoyable, and better than Millennium Force. -
How well do you handle hangtime?
CorkscrewFoley replied to Vid_w's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Behemoth and Leviathan have some nice hangtime...I usually cling onto the restraint and the plastic part of the seat, but once the train is fully released of the chain, the hands go up, and I enjoy my rides. -

Dmax, I'm looking for something similar to that, but it was something like cement. I had them before, and miss them dearly. -

Not a fan of the tilting mid course either, but I really like the layout. It's different from what is out there. Keep it up! -

What a vile looking contraption...despite the nausea I'm not doubt going to feel, it still looks like a fun ride, even if your boys get beat up... -
Shane's Amusement Attic
CorkscrewFoley replied to montezooma's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How does one acquire the brochures? I've contacted B&M, Intamin, etc for brochures, but no dice. Shane, thanks for posting and congrats on the second location... -
Strangest layouts
CorkscrewFoley replied to Her0ofLime's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Both PAX Wild Trains are unique, and from what I have read here and other places, are quite intense for family coasters. I always thought Speed as well the rest of the Premier shuttles were unique. -
Strangest layouts
CorkscrewFoley replied to Her0ofLime's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It took me a while to figure out why the brake run is so ridiculously long, but I eventually did figure it out: They wanted three train operation, but for some reason they didn't want to have an MCBR (possibly due to variety as Behemoth already does, otherwise, after studying the ride's property on videos an MCBR could have been placed right after the overbank at the far end, but it would have required quicker transitions that B&M generally doesn't seem to prefer to build) and had no other choice as there would otherwise be too few block sections to safely allow three train operations. While trying to do a recreation of Leviathan for RCT2, I came to the same conclusion. I know many on this site didn't like the ride, either for not being forceful enough, or because of the brake run, but I still thought it was fun ride, and being unique for having the world's tallest brake run. -

It's too bad they couldn't have removed the cabin, I dunno what they could've done with it, but I suppose it is too late for that now... -

I think it's a good idea, and I don't have/or want kids. After I-305, coaster wise, what can you do to not compete with it, but do something entirely different...Most of the rides are standard fare for this type of area, and it'll please the parents...at least until Little Johnny comes off bored, points to I-305 and says...'I want to go on THAT!' -
Coaster Types and Capacity
CorkscrewFoley replied to Solipsisto's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, B&M's are pretty quick for capacity. Even with Raptor, once you're seated, the ops are usually right on top of the situation. -

I'm sad to see Space Spiral go, just as much as Disaster Transport, but that tower was in fact iconic...oh well, bring in the Gatekeeper... -

Behemoth rough? Hardly...I dunno about the middle, but both of my front rides, I got an incredible amount of floater air...Leviathan lived up to my expectations, but I still prefer Behemoth. -
