  1. I find it funny that so many people have complaints about the walks inside an amusement park. You spend half the day at least in line so the time walking for me is refreshing. Heck my wife an I walked 7.5 miles one day in London according to our odometer.
  2. ^I agree. Epcot is very large, yet I usually make at least 2 full laps per visit. Alton seemed to be perfect size and CP is a long walk, but again I went through Frontiertown 3 times on my last visit. I definately enjoy small parks, but I have to say I have never been to a park that is too big.
  3. Why would you start another thread after one was locked already. There wasn't any confusion Parktrips speculated that this was a boring topic. Can you imagine if there was a thread like this for every coaster. Exciting. I don't know how anyone could know if the were going to add trims and the ride is fantsatic everywhere because the train is so small and the air is everywhere.
  4. ^Because the 12 year old deserves it more. Plus Barry makes a nice vacation video. Carnage sorry to hear that I guess I will have to find a new person to ditch Hot Ice with.
  5. I am a lot sadder to see the park go, then I am to see psyclone go. IMO that was one of the five worst(non kiddie) coasters in the UK and the worst woodie. However I enjoyed a couple of the dark rides there and the mouse the loss of those is a far bigger tradegy. Rich "I had ERT on Psclone and only rode once" Bitner
  6. My students are more mature then most of the 16 year olds who post on this site. I think it has a lot to do with the life they come from.
  7. The part where a 12 year old did not get their way.
  8. I am going to say that Barry actually has a great sense of humor since he put up with so much crap on that trip from people who thought it was their right to tease him, because people who actually know him teased him. There were several other people that deserved to be picked on more than Barry, but would never have been able to take it and keep smiling like he did. It is fun to tease and I know I got a couple in on Barry about his camera, but all in all he was a great sport about it.
  9. As I continue to add new parks I have found I enjoy coasters about the same, but I like the park experience a lot more. I have found other rides I enjoy, I love looking at the layouts and trying different foods. All the little things that go into a park have gotten so much better since becoming an enthusiast. I used to only be about big rides, now I really enjoy seeing small parks.
  10. You beat me to it. I was going to wait to the deadline and point out the fact that even with all those UK'ers who had guaranteed spots that were obviously going to fill up the trips and make them all cliquey, there are still spots left. Amazing, I guess some of us should have told the younger posters that there would be spots if you wanted to go.
  11. Great TR Derek. I wish teaching involved overseas conferences. I have to say its the only way I could like my job more.
  12. Free Mountain Dew and Orange soda is one of the greatest inventions in park history. MMMM Mountain Dew not a UK friendly drink.
  13. I agree about the loss of trees. I have been going to CP since I was 6. though the rides have gotten much better the park has gotten Much worse. I really miss the old days at CP. I loved that flume also.
  14. I vote for Alton with no other park being close that I have been to. That being said I will see what BGT does for me on my upcoming visit.
  15. As far as thundercoaster goes I got a dry ride earlier in the day and several in the rain later, but I found both to be excellent. Course I do have a high tolerance for roughness, and I would 99% of the time prefer roughness to braking.
  16. Your falling star statement is only true until you visit ValleyFair. They actually can ruin a falling star.
  17. No problem Herc its about time we met.
  18. Then the four of us will shoot for 10 o clock as it would be great to have a BOTBC table at the food court. Sort of like the cool kid table in High School except this time I will be a part of it.
  19. I thought the ride was very weak, and the park was not that special to me either one of my least favorite on the trip. That being said I hate to see places like this just tossed away, since this hobby will have no future for me if all the parks are part of chains. For years this place was able too survive and now it just has no possible future. Just seems like a waste to me and I am no really glad I got to go. I feel like this most times when I hear something gets destroyed. I understand why, but I just hate to see the parks of the past sacrificed for the cookie cutter parks of the present.
  20. Larry are you going to join us for frightfest at Dorney on Sunday?
  21. Nicole is 100% correct on pirate ride. Befor that along the midway across from Cedar Downs was a dark ride called earthquake. i rode it once and was very young so I am guessing it was taken out early 80's. Other than those 2 I have no idea.
  22. Rich (coaster05, UK trip) Melanie (Funky Badger, UK) My sister and her husband who are not members here. We will be a CP the night before and staying in Youngstown Ohio so I doubt if we can make it there by 8, but we will give it a try. We have never done PPP so are other restaurants open befor the official 12:00 starting time.
  23. Mine left for California on Monday.
