  1. In the correct order: Astroland (Coney Island) SFGADV Hershey Knoebels Rye Playland Lake Compounce SFNE Of the 42 coasters we rode on the trip, these are my favorites: 1. EL Toro 2. Storm Runner 3. Nitro 4. Superman Ride of Steel (SFNE) 5. Boulder Dash
  2. The tunnel on Phoenix is great, with the pitch black darkness and the lovely smell of grease. Nitro is also good as the predrop is alot bigger than any other B&M's Ive been one. Nemesis Inferno is probably my favorite. The train picks up quite alot of speed before twisting gently from side to side through the mist.
  3. I rode SDL 1 1/2 weeks ago and I didnt find it rough in any way. Those Schwarzkopf brakes can be a bit hard, but the ride itself was quite smooth and not uncomfortable at all.
  4. Be aware that the ride ops are extremely slow. Even though most of the coasters were running all of their trains, the ride ops were slow enough for the trains to stack up, which defeated the purpose. I thought they did a good job when I visited the park two weeks ago. They werent super-fast or anything, but they were alot slower at SFNE a few days later.
  5. Superman Ride of Steel @ Six Flags New England Judging by the polls, we (me and Nosferatu) seems to be a minority, but after our first ride we both thought "Thats it?". It seemed to be running awfully slow early in the day. It definately got alot better in the evening, but the only really good hill is the one before the twister section. The fact that the ride-ops put pretty much their entire weight on the lapbar (or should I say crotch-bar?) when checking the restraints didnt help much either. It is a very good ride, but I like both Storm Runner and Nitro better and when only one of the hills can compare to El Toro, I dont think it lives up to the hype.
  6. I rode Fahrenheit last week as well. I thougth the cobra roll had quite alot of vibrations for a new ride, but apart from that it was smooth as glass. Loved the first drop and the ending (corks + final turns). Very good ride! Storm Runner wasnt as smooth, but it was insane! Unlike pretty much every other ride, I never managed to prepare myself for the ride. Easily the best coaster in the park in my opinion. Having been on El Toro the day before, and the only GCI I had ridden earlier was Thunderbird, I was a bit dissappointed with the wooden coasters at Hershey. Comet was actually the smoothest one. A bit more airtime and it would have been great.
  7. Viking86 thinks the last picture looks awesome because its a PAX coaster and the only PAX coaster he has been on is freakin amazing. Viking86 also realises that he has to change his signature because El Toro is easily the best coaster ever created.
  8. We had an RCT-style "Restraints stuck closed" breakdown on Kingda Ka when we returned to the station after our first and only ride a week ago. I guess it took 5-10 mins before they got us out. We also saw people being evacuated on the lifthill on the left side of Rolling Thunder.
  9. Have Lisebergbanan been repainted recently, or is it just the picture that makes it looks really white??
  10. I found it to be a fairly good element on Speedmonster. Kinda floaty at the top, and some pretty good forces at the bottom. In my opinion it looks more spectacular than it is, but its still pretty good. Of course there could be some minor changes on this ride to make the experience different.
  11. Im going overseas this year. First we'll spend a few days in NY and then we'll get a rental car and drive around on the east coast. Were planning to visit the following parks: Astroland SFGADV Hershey Knoebels SFNE Dorney or Lake Compounce
  12. That was a sweet video. The swinging was really crazy in some of those turns! Thanks for sharing it with us!
  13. How can people honestly belive that this coaster will be similar to Hypersonic and Dodonpa, two coasters built back in 2001??? And if you look at the trains, they seem to be running on regular coaster track.
  14. Wasnt it Karl Bacon who invented the tubular steel track??
  15. Not in the US, but it may be of interest to other forum members. Tivoli Friheden in Denmark has one. http://en.friheden.dk/rides/adults/skytower/
  16. Probably didnt have anything to do with the ride. This doesnt excactly make Disney's reputation any better, but if you look at how many people who dies at Disney and how many people who dies in their home, it doesnt look too bad for Disney afterall.... I feel very sorry for the family who had to experience the sudden death of a family member.
  17. Oh no their babies were crying. They must have been scarred for life....
  18. Im a bit concerned about the half loop. It looks like there will be alot of weight on the restraints. Other than that it looks pretty cool. I have been on some very smooth Vekoma's so I wouldnt be too worried about that part.
  19. Schwarzkopf Looping Stars are great rides for everyone. The loop is excellent, and the last turn into the brakes is probably the best ending on a coaster I have ever experienced!
  20. Ive only been on the following: [5] Balder [10] Thunderbird [26] Thundercoaster (just wanted to mention it because it was close, and my list is so short ) This is how I rank them: [1] Thunderbird [2] Balder [3] Thundercoaster
  21. I thought it was an amazing ride! Of course it doesnt have the strongest airtime, but its a very wild ride and the lateral G-forces in the second half are just sick! Theres not a single slow-moment on that ride. European Coaster Club visited Powerpark this summer and heres some of their thoughts: All the comments can be read here http://www.coasterclub.org/trips/reports/2007/scandi/day2/ I guess that should answer some questions...
  22. I think its a ride that makes you laugh the first couple of times it goes over the edge, but then after that its just 'meh'.... I didnt find it painfull, it just wasnt anything special. The Intamin Ball coasters are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better!!!
  23. Better: -Both the SLC's I have ridden (Tizona and Blue Tornado). A bit rough, particularly the last one, but still a very exciting, intense ride and not rough enough to be painfull for me. -Nemesis Inferno. You dont hear much about this coaster, but I thought it was really good. The pre-lift part was awesome. -Magic Mountain @ Gardaland. A standard Vekoma double-loop/double-corkscrew coaster with Arrow trains. I expected a bad ride, but I actually ended up riding it 3 times in a row. -Vilda Musen @ Gröna Lund. Ive heard several people complain about this ride being rough, but I actually think that this may be the best coaster in the park. Jetline wasnt running as good as last year, so I think I had more fun on Vilda Musen this year. Worse: -Colossus @ Thorpe Park (2005). I knew it was going to be a bit shaky, but it felt like it was going to shake itself apart. The hard restraints around your ears didnt help much either. I have yet to come off a Vekoma ride in pain. The same cant be said about Colossus. I also thought the layout was quite boring as well, so that didnt help.
  24. The darts were not in the park, but outside the place where we spent the night. It was a beatiful place located in a small forest near Powerpark. The only bad thing about it was the mosquitos. They were freakin huge and very aggressive. I could actually feel when they landed on my skin. My legs were itching like hell the next few days....
  25. Looks very similar to Thunderbird, which instantly made it to the top of my woodie list. Particularly the second half was amazing. I havent been on any other GCI's, but on Thunderbird they were really pushing the comfort limits when it comes to lateral G-forces, which is why I loved it so much. Im sure this will be just as great...
