Nice looking coaster. Hopefully it'll be on par with Intamin's mega-lites (a bit angry they didn't go with one of those.) Looks fun, and quite different than Chance-Morgan's older rides. -

I do not know but I don't see any on RCDB, however, that only lists 42 terrain coasters. What if the track was saved but the supports were scrapped and another company re-engineered the supports for flat or gently sloped land? However, given the shape that some say the coaster is in, I think the chances are very slim. -

The Flying Dutchmen are fairly intense rides, however. Not to say the B&M ones aren't, they're probably just as intense if not more intense. But hey, this is the guy who found the Volare tolerable. -

Yeah, it looks like a loop, it's gonna feel like a loop. Its width is just minutiae. If it looks like a loop, rides like a loop, inverts like a loop, and quacks like a loop it probably is a loop. -

My opinion: I've been on all three Vekoma flyers (SF America, Carowinds, KI), and all three Supermen flyers (Illinois, NJ, Georgia) and Tatsu. I hated two of the three Vekomas, although the KI version was running well when I rode it. B&M's versions have all wheels touching the rail 100% of the time and are much smoother, the Vekomas have a gap between the rail and the side wheels, which seemed like a bad design. The Carowinds flyer I found particularly bad and couldn't wait for the ride to end. I like not getting rattled on a ride and am not a fan of headaches. Aftershock is my favorite Vekoma I've been on. The rest are tolerable or painful (ie. Kong). I thought the suspended boomerang at KI was so-so -- not great but not the worst. I find Firehawk to be good. I've only seen Nighthawk - it was closed when I went. I find Invertigos to be quite smooth and Boomerangs fine, but a bit rough (I still love to mock them for being boomerangs.) The SLC which I have the most experience with is Thunderhawk, which is one of the better ones from what I've heard, and is also decent, though rattly. Flight Deck at CW is the other SLC I've been on, but I only rode it once and in the front to avoid the bumpiness, so I have no fair opinion besides that my one ride was fine. -

On another note, why are Vekoma Flying Dutchmen (such as Firehawk) made fun of so much? They are actually decent rides, held back by the manufacturer's bad reputation and horrible load times, but good rides nonetheless. Comparison of multiple flying coasters, ranging from good to horrid on the Mitch Hawker poll- Tatsu - 35 Manta - 39 Superman clones - 129 Air - 130 Batwing - 227 Firehawk - 238 Nighthawk - 240 Volare - 364 So what is this? Bumpiness that I seem to ignore, or just bad brand? On a side note, I didn't find the Volare (Time Warp) at CW that bad. -

What is it? RCDB says SBNO, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while. Google Maps shows it as of 2013, but considering nobody has talked about it, I wanted to start a thread. Maybe by now, they'll finally decide what to do with it. -
Whats your favorite Vekoma?

Firehawk at Kings Island. Definitely a good ride. Thunderhawk at MA isn't quite "butter smooth", but it is a decent ride. -

http://rcdb.com/9114.htm FOtR is still under construction. Do we have an opening date yet? Anyways, if this is longer than GK, do you think CP will stop using the length record? I mean, none of the GP in the States will know about it. -
When we went, either when or when it was not busy, they didn't force us to a side but they forced us to go into a certain row and held back people from the station platform. Because of the holding back, I would say, I don't think they let us stay on like most rides on Six Flags, BUT that may just be my imagination. I really wish I got to ride it more than twice during my trip.

What's your most hated coaster company?
GigaG replied to mrlego611's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been on many, but Shivering Timbers is a nice ride. Bumpy, but if you sit in a good (non-wheel, I think) seat near the front, it is nice except for a huge bump in the trick track. Also, didn't the PTC trains cause the rides to become bad (and not just CCI, from what I've gathered?) For woodies, I know RCCA was hated, but I only went on one coaster of theirs (SoB) and don't have much recollection of it besides it being pretty bumpy, but everybody seems to say that all of them are horrible. Dinn made some kinda bad rides, from what I heard, but Mean Streak isn't horrible as long as you don't sit on a wheel (just boring) and I love Georgia Cyclone (got some good, intense rides on it in the rain once.) Wolverine Wildcat is kinda crappy unless you sit in the right seats (I found that back car, middle row is O.K.) For steel coasters, I'd have to say I love to mock Vekoma, but I have more experience with bad Arrows. -

What is the scariest ride in the world?
GigaG replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Drop towers and Screamin' Swings (Only been on Skyhawk, but seen others and could imagine that they're similar) are kinda freaky. Drop towers for obvious reasons, and Screamin' Swings due to the minimalist restraints (HUSS Giant Frisbees provide a similar experience but have very tight restraints.) As for roller coasters, I don't know. The Tilt Coaster style (Gravity Max) seems kinda freaky, but the only one is not that tall - maybe if they were made larger? Also, Dragster/Kingda Ka are intimidating at first and give rides that are really unable to be compared to most other coasters - you go right from a standstill to super-high speeds to flying vertically upwards. However, they are easy to get used to - roller coasters don't keep the scare factor very well. -
I've seen both... but YOLO was only testing, it was a week before it opened. YOLO seems more intense, but not to say that GateKeeper is a bad ride - it is quite fun, now has unlocked vests, and is beautiful overall. YOLO is pretty cool-looking, too, and I imagine it looks better now that the plaza is finished. I'm not going to vote, since I've never been on YOLO.

I personally like to use Mean Streak to waste time or just ride because Maverick has a huge line. Not to say that I don't want Iron Streak - I love the idea! Anyways, MS isn't that bad although some of the fast parts (notably sometimes the bottom of the first drop and drop off of the second elevated turn) are bumpy. It's more boring than bumpy. If they really don't want to go all-out on Iron Streak, they should topper track it, remove the trims, and speed up the MCBR. -

What park should have an Intamin Mega-Lite?
GigaG replied to Montuman99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If "larger size" was such an issue, MF, TTD, El Toro, and countless other coasters would be unsuccessful. I think a park that would be great for a Mega-Lite is Michigan's Adventure. It could be in the infield of the train ride between Shivering Timbers and Thunderhawk. The park is owned by a large chain which has the money. It would be a similar size to the two other big coasters (Timbers and Thunderhawk.) Also, the park needs another steel coaster. Another reason - it is very near where I live (3.5 hours or so.) If this did happen, I would be SOOOOO happy. Whether it would be a GP magnet, I don't know. I mean, I guess if you can draw the GP in with an SLC and keep them riding it (admittedly, a (gasp!) decent SLC), the y should enjoy a Mega-Lite. -

We seem to think that they are pretty tame compared to the other ones- they renamed Dr. D. Mented's Asylum to Eternity Infirmary due to a local controversy (however, it is still pretty asylum-themed.) Eden Musee is pretty scary - it is dark and you can't see the monsters - however, my favorite scene with the strobe lights wrapped people that sometimes sneak up and say "psst..." doesn't seem to have as many living monsters (monstly models) or none - or at least I haven't seen them move this year - but I've only been through twice this year. Zombie High School (Replacing Club Blood) has a bit of scare to it, but maybe it only seems like that because most times I've been through it were on a Fall Freakout GOCC tour with no monsters and full lighting. If you notice, the plans on the wall and boards in the "drafting classroom" are for several haunts, including Zombie High School itself. The books (glued down) and tech equipment in the library and old tech closet seem to be real (on the tour, the old stereo was blasting scratchy sounding songs, including what sounded like Gangnam Style.) Despite how much I like it (especially the rather funny jockstraps hanging from the ceiling at the end), I miss the hanging clear body bags (or something like that) in the strobe light room from Club Blood. I also really miss Happy Jack's Toy Factory - it was long and the peeing dolls at the end were hilarious. Hopefully when Eden Musee is retired, they'll bring back a toy factory haunt (with peeing dolls.) On the other hand, Fear Faire sucks now, its just a winding path through the picnic pavillion with a bunch of plastic props. It used to have a large circular "marketplace" if I remember that you could stay in as long as you wanted. That is gone now, and the haunt is a bit lame. So why don't I think Halloweekends is any more violent than any other haunts? At Dorney Park (which, like many CF parks, still uses the Asylum theme, or at least it did in 2011 when I went in the fall), the Asylum person gave us rules at the beginning. It started as normal - don't touch the monsters, they won't touch you, etc... but then they said "don't drop the soap." Sure enough, I believe the first scene was a shower scene. That should sum things up for you. As for rides, its the same, although the different operating schedule and weather conditions means that you might get slow rides (MF in the morning on Sunday was lacking airtime in practically every way except the usual airtime on the first drop in the back) or fast rides, or maybe the opening and closing of the back rows on Dragster might net you a rollback (still waiting for the lucky day.) If you care, some of the less popular coasters (Gemini, Mine Ride, Mantis, Corkscrew, and I would say the kiddie coasters too) are closed on Friday, though Mean Streak and I think Iron Dragon stay open - correct me if I missed anything. Also, on Saturdays and Sundays, Corkscrew closes during the parade - the floats get too close to the corkscrews to allow it to run. All water rides are shut down all the time, I think (I don't think they run during Halloweekends at all) - Thunder Canyon's trough is for CornStalkers (another interesting haunt), StR has been shut down since the accident, and SRF is also closed. Skyhawk has reopened one arm, although I could swear it swings to maximum height for less time now (the cycle may have been shortened.) -
