  1. I find the desperation to claim that this is a "new for 2016" ride by openly considering opening it for one day to an empty boardwalk in November/December to be just that: hilarious. Yeah, it is "better than nothing," but it also makes zero sense whatsoever to do. They completely botched their timeline for construction and this is their damage control.
  2. Well, when it does open, you can bet on there not being gobs of people trying to deal with a winterfied Ocean City, NJ. This is hilarious.
  3. Tours have their place and often times there can be real benefit to them when I think the barriers of entry are a bit high for me. I don't think there's anywhere in the US where I feel that way about food - you spend 5 minutes with Yelp and Google searches and pretty much any question you might have gets answered quickly.
  4. Every region has to have something. For whatever reason, the Mid-Atlantic region is bereft of its own significant regional chain restaurants, so in their place, there's Wawa and Sheetz. I like both and have determined not to have a preference since they basically do the same exact thing for me.
  5. They touched the hell out of my neck, and I know I'm hardly the only one with that opinion. Thank god for the vests.
  6. Find yourself a billionaire willing to pay for it, then.
  7. Rider position on Maverick and I305 is also quite a bit different than on the RMC trains. Also, as anyone coherent enough to apply thoughts to a keyboard or voice recognition apparatus for recording might recognize, you'll have great sensation of lateral force with an OTSR that is in constant contact with the body simply because it exists. This has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not greater force is applied.
  8. Or christ, Lightning Rod. Storm Chaser too (and probably Wicked Cyclone, Joker, and Medusa). So like I said, if you poorly design the vehicle, you're likely to give people concussions regardless of if they're conscious or not. The Premier launched coasters with OTSRs were some of the most abysmal attractions ever and probably hurt way more people than they protected.
  9. I'm not sold at all. Somehow RMC manages to make the rides they did without OTSRs. The purpose of OTSRs isn't to try and keep an inert body from smashing into the restraints or car sides to prevent injury either, just to keep it in the vehicle. If the vehicle is that poorly designed, you'll have injuries regardless.
  10. "It's forceless! The vests hurt my underdeveloped shoulders!"
  11. Can I make a suggestion? Stop going. Do something else. You can tone the anger down a little and say the things you want in a different, more constructive fashion. This? This isn't helping you.
  12. Everyone would like new rides. We'd all like giant e-tickets, we want them built in 90 days, we want them with 80 foot tall animatronics that run and jump and play basketball, and and and and.... Up until the talk started for this thing getting redone, all the militant Waltians hated this thing anyways. It was a thrill ride, it didn't have the part where the car moves forward "through space", and the exit wasn't themed enough or something. It had all the strikes against it. Now they start work on it and the world is ending. Oh woe is they!
  13. This is good bait. As for "cheap layovers" being a new thing, they aren't either in the global theme park sense or the Disney sense. MK and DL's Tomorrowlands are FULL of them. Walt opened DL with a cheap circus layover on top of a used carousel as one of the Fantasyland centerpieces. People who even know their history like to forget parts of it when convenient.
  14. The 'ol declining by degrees chestnut broken out over a sign being removed. Instead of complaining that they're taking 9-12 months for a "cheap overlay" that will probably have a budget exceeding every regional park's 2017 capex, why not be happy they're shortening that window and that you still get to ride Tower while they make modifications to the exterior?
  15. Kanonen might be really fun, but hell if I know since it was down the entire day that I was there for mechanical problems. Bring on the dive machine that will almost definitely be up, I say.
  16. People get used to cycles of expansion and tons of construction. That's all. Personally I don't get why anyone would be that up in arms about it unless they somehow managed to ride everything significant on the continent.
  17. The only people who care about the sign are uber nerds that freebase pixie dust. Hot take, I know.
  18. Fun Spot even has cheap beer. Yuengling is like $3 or something on draft. As a tourist I still hate the stupid TTC. I don't care if Walt wanted you to have to take a monorail or boat to make it more magical or whatever. I'm old. Magic isn't real. I paid money to go on badass rides, not sit on a stupid boat filled with screaming children.
  19. There hasn't been a wait for Kraken since...ever. So who cares? Can't think of a better coaster to put it on in Orlando all things considered. I personally can't imagine living in Orlando - just not anywhere I want to be on a permanent basis - but if I was, no question about it that the new bar and food festival stuff at SeaWorld along with the coasters would make it my go-to along with Fun Spot over the likes of Universal or Disney. No diss to either; they aren't bad places, and I've never had a bad time at either. But for the cost of a couple one-days to MK, you've got an entire year of SeaWorld parks, go-karts, and the best wood coaster in the region.
  20. Edgelord phase of thread achieved.
  21. That should be fine. You can grab breakfast at the International Food Court if you don't go prior.
  22. This would be the second high profile corporate collapse this year in Korea. Alarming.
  23. So here's the lowdown: traffic will be insane. Like outrageous. You may even see the parking lot fill up. You must arrive early - before the rides open at minimum. You may want to be there an hour or two before. Look at maps and consider taking the "back way" in. There is a back way, I assure you. Actual lines for rides are basically "busy saturday in summer" Knoebels lines. Phoenix will be out in the midway and that's like 15 minutes with two trains. It really isn't that bad.
  24. On that day? Definitely no lines. Literally no one!
  25. No. Not saying that they aren't doing it because of low crowds, but yeah, that's a lousy reason.
