  1. How is 'sky' the only coaster area? If that's so then it must be a pretty big area.
  2. It has not been a year since X has been operated. The last time it was running was August 2006. The week I was at the park is when it went down for this period. It was running the first day I visited-should of went on it then 'cause the next day----BOOM!
  3. Why is it so loud? Anyone who has been under the curved part of track when the car goes by knows what i am talking about.
  4. How about pics of the underside of the cars?
  5. I also wanted to know that too. I have rode both and to my understanding, and knowledge, they are just mirored. Mirrored suggests the same layout just reversed. They are not similar, not mirrored. PGA's is 100 feet longer and has a taller lift. Yes PGA's has a lot of long straight boring sections of track, but it is not a mirror image of the other one. You should not falsly associate a bad coaster with a good (descent) one.
  6. What are you talking about? Nothing has fallen down.
  7. What I am complaining about is people coming on here stating "it's a new theme" or "it's being repainted because of this" when they have no real proof that what they are saying is true. Complain about something being painted all you want just don't say you know why it's being done when you really don't.
  8. I have to agree. Shenanigans seems to be the best way to describe it.
  9. How do you people know for sure what is going on? It is almost like some of these ideas came out the hind quarters of some of you. Do any of you know really what is going on? Do you work at the park? Are you part of the crew working on the track? Ok then how about this... They are taking out that piece of track to install an ice cream truck to turn this into "a cool refreshing ride." How is that for random?
  10. I heard somewhere the front gate was going to be moved to where zonga used to be. I wonder if the new paint scheme has anything to do with that or the name change of the park?
  11. The last piece of track that was installed, the one with the construction company name and the guys who built the ride on it, where exactly is that piece of track on Tatsu? If I remember right, that would be track piece #17 which was the last one installed. I'm guessing it's right after the top of the lift/first drop?
  12. The trains on PGA's Grizzly have always been the same. I remember when I worked there (PGA) in '89 and one of the rides I worked was the B O Speedway which snakes in and out underneath the Grizzly structure. Anyway, we were going through opening procedures on the Speedway when they started testing Grizzly trains. It was kind of a cool morning and the first train they sent stopped on the anti rollbacks on the second hill. The mechanics had to go up there and give it a push, then they jumped into the front seat and rode it the rest of the way. After that first train, the rest of them made it through the course. Apparently this had been an issue ever since the coaster had been built because we heard all kinds of rumors and things they were doing to fix it like adding weights to the front car. But it was funny you could stand there and watch it just barely make it past the rollbacks on the second hill all day. And maybe it was just my perception but it did seem to be a little faster through the rest of the course, and a little smoother. I also worked panel on Grizzly and every day at the same time for like two months, almost to the minute, when the sun was in a certain position it would shine on these photosensors that were at the emergency brake part of the track and cause the computer to think there was always a train in that block. So we would have a train going up the lift, a train in the station, and this "phantom" train on th E-brake which caused the ride to 'set-up.' This usually lasted about a half an hour, train stuck on the lift and all. So I guess what I am saying is that this coaster has issues. Every year I ride it and every year it seems to me that it gets a liitle more sluggish and a lot more rough. If it kept it's speed and didn't beat the hell out of you it actually would be quite enjoyable.
  13. I think we can all agree that a coaster does not need a 'snazzy' paint job to be great, ride quality is not affected by the track color, although some people may percieve it to make a difference between a good and bad ride. But you have to admit that when it has the right color/scheme combination that it LOOKS really cool. It could be totally horrible, all rusty and oxidized but if it's fun I won't let a stupid thing like that stop me from going on it.
  14. I believe the brake at the bottom of the pretzel loop is not a trim but an emergency brake if the train valleys in the loop. Believe me, there is no trimming whatsoever going on through that loop!
  15. Or it's the rain, it has been raining here. If the paint hadn't dried completely, the rain could be washing it away. What a mess!
  16. No. The ride WAS dispatching as quickly as 40-45 seconds when it first opened up until around June. I saw it in person --- the queue for the ride was constantly flowing quickly. Then again, I said "when it first opened." They DID. For some odd reason, it aired in Canada before it did in the U.S. And how slow are the dispatch times now? Yes, wishful thinking.
  17. He wanted a train to dispatch every 45 seconds. What you want and what you get are two different things. Maybe it was just wishfull thinking.
  18. Why is it assumed that a coaster is going to be Superman themed just because the track is being painted red? And IF the supports are purple/maroon as suggested in the pictures, that doesn't make any sense. Since when is purple/maroon a Superman color?
  19. Aren't ALL the seats 'wheel seats?' Doesn't EVERY car have two axles?
  20. The flight trainer (joystick controlled) PGA used to have was called 'Skyhawk.'
  21. So then that attraction must be overstaffed.
  22. The name change is for East of the Freeway not West towards the park. The signs on the freeway would still be Magic Mountain Parkway. Thank you! I was just going to point that out as it seems like everyone missed that litlle bit of info and are all going nuts like the whole street will be changed. You really only need the section from the freeway to the park to have the MM Parkway name anyway.
  23. Uh. What makes you think that a "Mr. Freeze" coaster is only seen by many people as a blue or black coaster? Red does not necessarily convey the meaning of "heat" all the time. I mean, what is the big deal? It's not like the coaster itself is supposed to be the actual Mr. Freeze. It's supposed to be one of his contraptions is it not? If the queue building theming remains intact, I don't see how this repaint should appear so ludicrous like a few of you seem to think. If you guys want to get extremely technical on the subject of coaster names and colors, then why has nobody complained about Magic Mountain's Viper color scheme? Since when were any Vipers red and white? More: Talon's yellow-orange-blue scheme and Raptor's green-on-green...have you seen any eagles or hawks sporting ANY those colors in their feathers? Well said, I agree. It's actually fairly simple. If the new paint scheme bothers you so much, then don't ride it and stop complaining about it. There. Done. Just go hang out at the mall all day and everything will be fine.
