Could a Track Jumping Coaster Be Possible?
Tmcdllr replied to Ccron10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The technology to make this safe and practical does not yet exist. There are also too many variables that can screw this up. You would have to be absolutely positively sure the train would land safely and correctly every single time without fail. Plus there would have to be failsafe and backup systems to ensure this. Then it would have to be insured. Too impossible but interesting. -
Great America To Be Sold Again?
Tmcdllr replied to Sean Menefee's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is so bad in so many ways and how anti-family of the 49ers. Thats ok cause the park is not going anywhere and the 49ers will be s.o.l. -
Six Flags America Accident

The default on the brakes is closed. The airbags in the brakes are always inflated keeping the brakes closed with compressed air from a resevoir tank, each brake or set of brakes has this tank which has a check valve and is always pressurized from a main supply. The only time the brakes ever open is when the solenoid valves for those brakes are energized which opens them and allows the bags to deflate and the springs to open the brakes. So even if the power goes out the brakes will remain closed as long as the tank has pressure and there is no current to energize the solenoid valves and let the air out. This is why there are resevoir tanks in the first place, as a failsafe to keep the brakes closed if there is a loss of power. That should totally clear this up. -
Six Flags America Accident

Since the brakes and most everything else except the lift motors is pneumatic which has nothing to do with fluid, its odd that they are saying hydraulic fluid sprayed everywhere. If that happened, where did it come from, somewhere on the lift or something? Or was it just fear and ignorance on the part of the people involved? -

Some people are really stupid and that sucks because it messes things up for everyone. -
Angry Gumball, in answer to your question yes, psycho mouse is designed to run a lot more than 2 cars. That is why there are so many blocks and millions of brakes all over it. They used to run multiple cars simultaneously and you didnt have to wait as long but they dont anymore. Now they are spaced further apart, dont know why they changed it.

Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Tmcdllr replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To say that the park is out of land for a hyper is totally irrelevant, if they really want to build one they will find room for it. -

There always has to be somebody that will complain about something good, thats just how it is. -
Why couldnt they just expand into the main lot, add a few big coasters and stuff, then use the rest of the main and overflow lots for parking? 2 maybe 3 nice coasters could be put in. Besides, the main lot is never full and they obviously dont even use the overflow lot. So the park does have room to expand.

The headbanging n Vortex would not be so bad if: 1.The restriant padding was not so hard. 2.The "seat" the part you adjust by sliding up and down has slop. If it did not have sideways movement, you would not get thrown into the restraints. Compare that to Riddler's Revenge's seats, they only move up and down and have absolutely no sideways slop to them at all. These trains are very similar so why then can't they just tighten up the seats? Even that by itself would be a big improvement.

Nevermind. Arrowfanman beat me to it and thanks for explaining the evac part, just hard to imagine them making guests climb those things.

^How would that work? As was said those are for track inspections/maintenance, they have nothing to do with evacuating a vallied train. I vote to close this topic.

Floorless Coasters: Just a gimmick?
Tmcdllr replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They are all a gimmick of some sort that is why you ride them. I personally dont care as long as its fun. -
If there is no pre drop on tatsu then wouldnt you hit the turn at the same angle coming off the lift? I mean you come off the lift at a steep angle then level out a bit as you start to bank into the turn. Isnt that considered a pre drop?

^Tatsu has a pre drop.

Excellent explanation! Thank you for the information. Good stuff.

Whatever. This is pointless. You contributed to it too. I did not start this whole thing. I am done.
