This is great and I am really happy about my home park getting a woodie that doesn't totally suck! I can't wait to ride it, looks like great fun with the wrap around Sky Tower and the 'exciting station fly by.' The next coaster on my wish list would be an Intamin hyper/looper, or a nice big B&M dive machine. I would even settle for a bigger, better version of Top Gun or a nicely sized flyer. Of course the ultimate would, dare I say it, be a Maverick clone, then I wouldn't have to go all the way to Sandusky to ride it. All there is to do now is burn Grizzly-Fizzly to the ground or blow it up and use that space for a coaster that would make good use of it, and of course wouldn't totally suck.

With this coaster annoucement being made so far in advance, which is unusual, is it possible that we could see 2 coasters for 2009? Maybe a future announcement may come at the end of the 08 season. But when was the last time one park installed 2 sizable coasters in a single season? I dont recall any but if it did happen it would be a very wonderfull thing, a nice big Intamin hyper/looper or a great B

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"

Yeah thats right. Now that you mention the upstops I remember seeing that too and thinking to myself "thats odd, why is there a gap between the rail and the upstops?" I apologize for the error. Thanks for jogging my memory. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"

The trains look as if all the wheels are now making contact with the rails, which should provide a much smoother ride, along with the entire seat being supported by a steel shell. Unlike standard Arrow coasters, ALL the wheels on the original X trains all contact the rails, they always have. The roughness and headbanging is almost completey due to slop that has developed in the seats/the seats bounce around a lot and the restraints have lost their softness and have become extremely hard. No doubt the new trains will be smoother but the wheel assemblies appear to be the same but I am sure they have been improved upon. New softer, more luxurious restarint padding and 'tight' seats, with minimal to no bouncing around, hopefully will make it almost as smooth as most B&Ms. -
Getting stuck on a ride!
Tmcdllr replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once during an employee party at night after closing on Demon at CGA, the op dispatched our train too soon which caused the ride to set up. The train we were on stopped on the brakes before the cork. Sitting in the dark stopped on the brakes, we heard the next train climbing the lift, and climbing, and climbing, it finally stopped at the top and after about 15 minutes they released our brake. We crawled through the rest of it. That was the slowest I have ever gone through a corkscrew - seemed like it barely made it through. The party was over after that happened. But for a few moments it was a little scary. -

^So you are saying not even to try at all? Wow, that seems extremely negative. -
Yeah I dont get the whole complaining about trashcans thing seems kinda silly. When I read that stuff I think "children please!" I would think more trashcans encourages people to use them instead of throwing it on the ground. It keeps the park cleaner so why bitch about it? Save the complaining for where it deserves to go like a really bad ride.

Zonga when it was at SFDK... I liked the layout and two back to back loops that were side by side, but being crammed in the tiny seats with barely room to breathe and the fat ass otsr plus the ear-bleeding head banging totally ruined it for me. From what I understand, when it was Thriller there was only a lap bar which I am sure was way better. I am surprised this has not been mentioned yet.

I get irritated when a new coaster is announced and before it is even built someone starts complaining about how steep the drop is or how ugly the trains look and how the themeing is going to suck or its gonna have trims everywhere...please! All that is fine and everything but it really means nothing until the coaster is built, and then after you have experienced it all those things will be valid. The ones that really get me are the ones that live hundreds of miles away from the park and are never intending on actually riding it, yet they find flaws with it tho they have never even seen the ride in person. Whatever. It amazes me how people like to complain about silly little things. This thread is legit because we are talking about rides we have actually been on and we know from experience that they do indeed suck, sometimes really badly.

Now that you bring them up I always thought Yankee Clipper was cool with the straight drop and jump at the bottom. I remember Lobster as a kid and thought it was fun too. Then there is Willards Whizzer, that and Turn of the Century were my first two big coasters. I like Demon but really miss Whizzer. Greatamericaparks.com has some great pics of the early days of both parks. Does anybody remember Bottoms Up? There are some great promo pics from 1976 and some with Bugs Bunny riding Whizzer..."its Marriots Great...Amer...i...caaaa."

^Thats so true! Those motors were f-ing loud! After all these years of not hearing that for 8 hours a day I thankfully almost forgot what they sounded like until you said that, now I can once again hear those things screamin in my head. Thanks! And you guys mentioned Ameri-go-round, I paneled that ride too. Yeah 2 buttons, start and e-stop, really super complicated. Oh and there was also a switch for the lights.

Omg arguing about the drop angle... Why dont you people wait until it has been built then you can go out there with a protractor and measure it for yourself. -
I worked there in 89 and that was one of many rides I worked panel at. Besides it being extremely boring to operate and watch and people spitting off it while it was in motion, it was known as the "barf machine" by the employees. Plenty of kitty litter was always kept on hand. The thing was frikin huge too.

Yes Invertigo replaced Triple Wheel which used to be kown as Sky Whirl. Triple Play, which used to be located next to the building which has the park managenent offices and does the season pass processing was replaced with nothing. The area is indeed used as the overflow line for season pass processing.

I could not add this to my previous post because I am on my cell.... I am hoping that Guy will post another hilarious beat-himself-up coaster horror story or even one that just pisses him off. Not that I enjoy reading about bodily harm coming to him, you know, not in a bad way, but they are very entertaining.
