  1. I will be at the park next week, anything good or bad going on that I should know about? As far as rides, Freefall, Flashback, and Orient Express will be closed I believe, and X is running one train. Anything else? Thanks in advance.
  2. Those look like communication cables, not hoses- look at the connector on the end.
  3. An Intamin looper makes sense based on the track clearance, or what we know of it.
  4. Why so harsh? I'm simply saying I think it's a wingwalker as do others and I think it's about time they officially announce this thing. It's no secret, construction is already underway, it's an Intamin, we just don't know for sure what type of Intamin it is. I for one am tired of waiting and I don't think I'm alone in that. And I feel your 'you really want to die' comment was not necessary.
  5. Okay Cedar Point, I think we've all waited long enough- it's time for the official announcement please. Come on, it's August already! I still think it's a wingwalker.
  6. PGA.... What about the closed Pictorium? If this is not going to reopen then surely that land and the area adjacent to it could be used for a coaster.
  7. Lets not forget it is one of the first inverting coasters, they had to put them in when it was built because they conserned riders might fly out of there seats Not true. Actually, Revolution first opened and ran for many years with lap bars only, the way it was DESIGNED to do, just fine with nobody flying out- i believe that is a common misconception. The OTSRs were added years later-someone here probably knows what year they were installed.
  8. How many blocks does Revy have? I know there are trims before the loop and after the tunnel, but are there brakes at the top of any of the other hills? In pictures I've seen anti rollback devices and kicker tires and I know what those are, but there are other long skinny things in the center of the track at the top of each hill-I'm thinking they are a certain kind of brake that was designed to be used on curved sections of track and grab fins underneath the train whereas the other two spots, the final brake run, and the station have brakes on the sides and are designed for the striaght parts of the track. Anybody else notice this?
  9. For a coaster that is 80 years old Giant Dipper is pretty smooth.
  10. Actually, they are pneumaticlly (air) powered, by forcing compressed air into a cylinder it raises the platen and unlocks the restraint. That it why you hear a 'hissing' sound whenever they are locked/unlocked- it is the compressed air being forced in and out of the cylinder.
  11. More people with jobs means more city for the money. It all revolves around the money. Anyways, I'm not surprised to see that Cedar Fair is not interested in Six Flags Magic Mountain, and I'm glad to see they're staying away from the temptation. The last thing we want is CF to get in the same hell hole SF got itself into. Maybe Anhieser busch will see some profit in it for them if they bought the park. They could rip out some of the rides in put in some nice animally attractions. There's plenty of rides at the park that people won't miss to terribly much. And animals give families something to do. Wrong- sorry I couldn't resist.
  12. That's too bad. I'm going to be there in mid August and was hoping to finally ride it and get it out of the way.
  13. Why don't one of you go and ask one of the mechanics you see hanging around Flashback what's going to happen with it? Then maybe we'll get some answers instead of everybody saying this and that about it.
  14. You have no idea how much it sucks when X only runs one train!
  15. There is a sign near the Rip Roaring Rapids entrance, close to the bridge that says new attraction coming soon. Does anyone have information on this? They have also started digging a little by the sign. Does this have something to do with the Orbit closing?
  16. Magic Mountain is what MADE Valencia, it will never go away. Without it, Valencia would just be another dusty little town on I-5.
  17. I have a question. Other V2's have a holding brake on the rear spike that holds the train there a few seconds. SFMW's V2 has a holding brake there but it is not used. Does anybody know why? Going up that tower then stopping briefly at the top sounds like it would be pretty cool. Was it used before the height was modified? Are they not able to use it due to the modified version of this ride or is it because they just don't use it? It seems to me that there really is no reason they couldn't do that, but maybe someone else knows for sure.
  18. I speculate it is a wingwalker. The obvious clues lead me to believe this.
  19. I'll try..... What ride is this in the same park? What park is this?
  20. Been searching around for a Whizzer POV and the only site I've found that has one so far has taken it offline. Anybody know where I can find one? I searched here but had no luck. I remember riding this as a kid at PGA - it was one of my first ever coaster rides and the only other one I know that still exists in the U.S. is at Six Flags Great America, (don't know if the track layout is the same though). I also remember the two accidents it had too. Thanks.
