  1. I've seen this more than one times unfortunatley, how come every time I see a picture of a splashdown on a roller coaster, it's sometimes labelled as "Roller Coaster Accident"? (slams head repeatedly into granite tabletop)
  2. I'm still in the state of mind of, "Don't knock it unless you try it." The new coaster building functions could definitely yield some of the most realistic looking RCT coasters we've ever seen.
  3. I do like the park a lot. I feel your rides are VERY well designed and the scenery looks extremely realistic. My only problem is in the fact that it seems like you didn't leave yourself enough room to expand your park without knocking down some rides. Lets just say you want to build a nice B&M Invert or Intamin launched coaster, there really wouldn't be any room to put it unless you sacrificed some rides.
  4. I've said this plenty of times but ever since Dorney lost Laser, the park has never been the same.
  5. I agree, you can literally have the time of your life at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and not really ride any of the rides. I feel like when I went to BGW for the first time, I kind of took the beautiful atmosphere and theming for granted because of the fact that the park is home two three amazing B&Ms, a totally kick-butt Arrow looper, and a pretty awesome and unique Zierier launched coaster. All those things are cool, but in hindsight, I am absolutley amazed by the atmosphere and the effort put in those themed areas.
  6. Rip out the Vekoma I actually enjoy? Okay...
  7. Strangely enough, that's what I like about him
  8. Oh yes. I was stunned at how forceful Montezooma's loop was, especially when going through it backwards. To answer the question; No. The vertical loop isn't going anywhere. You also get some great forces on both SooperDooperLooper's and Sidewinder's loop (going backwards)
  9. Well OITNB is pretty big right now...But I got to say, it's definitely more classy than some of Six Flags' shirts. "I'm gonna ride that ass like a roller coaster"? I mean, WTF?
  10. Now that I think about it....I think I should finally share this. I've gone on three Kings Dominion trips, and the very Kings Dominion trip, I witnessed a little girl get verbally and possibly physically abused by her father. All I remember was that it was in the parking lot, there was a family of four getting in their car probably ready to go home, the little girl was crying for some reason and her dad began to scream at her, and when I say scream, I mean full-on Drill Instructor scream at the little girl, probably no older than six years old. Something about "I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH IT!!! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T LISTEN TO ME! STOP CRYING RIGHT NOW!!" I was so heartbroken that I just couldn't bear to watch. I cringed and that's when the little girl started screaming like a banshee....I think at that moment, the dad hit her. Despite the fact that KD is one of my favorite parks, It seems that every time I go, I can't help but think of that poor little girl....Looking back, I really wish I had CPS' number.
  11. So you basically called out someone who was abusing the handicapped line in order to avoid waiting on the regular line on Boulder Dash, yet the ride ops got mad at YOU? That's screwed up...
  12. Seeing as how zero parks in America have installed an actual Intamin Mega Lite, I would like to see either a Lighting Run clone or a coaster like Storm at Etnaland, the MACK Mega-Lite with an inversion go to Michigan's Adventure, which is in my opinion, the most underappreciated park in the CF chain, behind California's Great America.
  13. I'd call it the "Go Home Max Immelmann, You're Drunk"
  14. Um.....That link had a trojan on it, MalwareBytes had a fit when I opened it.
  15. Wouldn't count on it. It really does seem like parks in America are getting every single Mega-Lite like ride with the exception of an actual Intamin AG Mega-Lite. Examples would be Lightning Run and Skyrush (even though it's an actual Intamin hyper coaster, it goes over 210 feet.) I wouldn't surprised if this country gets one of those new MACK Mega-Lite type rides.
  16. What about Anaconda and Shockwave?
  17. B&M used an inverted loop on Hydra. It was a fun element, but I personally enjoy their zero-G rolls, vertical loops, and corkscrews more. It's technically an oblique dive loop.
  18. Very good park with nice atmosphere with a good selection of coasters. Ride i305 as much as you can and maybe save Volcano for last before the park closes, because lines for Volcano can be bad. Literally, I've seen Volcano have a 30 minute wait and every single other roller coaster, INCLUDING i305 and Flight of Fear, have a walk-on. Flight of Fear is an extremely underrated indoor coaster and Avalanche plays the role as a "family mine train coaster". Backlot is a lot of fun, Anaconda and Shockwave....well...they're all a matter of your personal opinion. I think they're very rough, but have their fun moments. Rebel Yell is extremely rough, but you get some KILLER air. For Hurler, try and get a seat more towards the front, it'll definitely be less brutal. Grizzly is a lot of fun too and sort of reminds me of the Coney Island Cyclone. Dominator is a really fun B&M coaster with a great vertical loop.
  19. That's exactly how I put it. At the time that Standing coasters were invented, there may have been suspended coasters, but there were no inverts, no floorless coasters, no other kind of coaster besides sit down coasters with a floor, maybe a few where the track is above you rather than below you, but that's pretty much it.
  20. I haven't ridden so I can't comment individually but this resonates for me. I think B&M are letting parks dictate terms slightly more than they were maybe 6 or 7 years ago so you will see some bigger/more forceful rides but I think most parks know that Intamin are more comfortable pushing the envelope so will naturally go towards them for the more intense rides that enthusiasts seem to prefer. We know that they must (or should) be comfortable making rides as intense as their earlier ones given that they were back then (when they were new), right? That's what I never understood about B&M either. It's almost like they made the first few intense coasters by accident, then said "Sorry folks! We didn't mean to do that; here's a new batch of coasters that are nice and tame for all you GP who will be scared off by something truly intense. But don't worry, you guys running the parks can still market these things as intense, as they still look super intimidating from the ground" In all seriousness though, I really don't see why they didn't just start building family coasters sooner, and keep their large, intense rides cranked up to 11 like they started out with? It's almost as if you're saying that every single B&M from the mid to late 1990s to now is lame. Now that is NOT true, Hydra at Dorney is a very fun and unique ride and Griffin's first drop and inversions are absolutely amazing. Both manufacturers are known for different things. B&Ms have nice inversions and floater airtime while Intamin is known more for their willingness to push the envelope and KILLER ejector air.
  21. The goal of all BDSM scenarios is ultimately pleasure, so it follows that there'd be a system in place where once the pain/humiliation has passed the point where you're enjoying it, you can put it to a stop. The goal of MM is not pleasure, it's raw fear in its most extreme form, and having a safe word wouldn't help in achieving that goal, it would hinder it (knowing that in one word the experience can be stopped). They have a nurse (I'm assuming registered) on site, and Russ knows exactly what to look for so when a participant starts to be in any actual danger mentally or physically, they put a stop to it. Nobody has been seriously injured yet and/or threatened to sue so I doubt they see any reason to change. After watching all of the available footage I think I have a pretty good idea of the prop/scene that keeps single-handedly breaking participants. This is all total speculation but here's my best guess for anyone who's as curious as I am. It obviously is something very physical, and the most distinctive physical mark left on the participants during and after the haunt is swollen, busted up lips. One of the guys tells us it's from "cleansing" (at the end of that video he says his throat is still swollen and he has trouble swallowing). The moment in the second big video where Russ says "I don't know who that was" and warning he might come back suggests the scene is associated with one character in particular. From the bleeped out audio in that same video, we know it's something that can be described in a single two syllable word, and one guy later names it as his biggest fear. Again, all speculation here, I believe the word is probably the "dentist" or the "doctor". We know that a doctor scene exists, the only question is if it's the one that keeps breaking people. It's pretty obvious to me because at the moment during the second video where they have to secure, the participant is strapped to a table next to one actor in a doctor costume and one in hospital scrubs. Towards the end of the first big video the second participant describes the prop as a "contraption" he kept finding himself in (and says each time he was in definite fear for his safety). One thing that's said over and over again by different people on different visits is they thought they were going to die. In my mind, the only thing that can truly set the brain into panic mode to that extent, where you feel like you're going to die, is some form of asphyxiation. So given all these clues, I believe the prop in question is some kind of vacuum pump that's attached to your face and literally sucks the air out of your lungs. I always though that the contraption that caused all this controversy was the waterboarding. But if what you're saying is true, all I can say is just freakin' WOW. That is so unbelievably dangerous I can't even....
  22. You know, I've really noticed that coaster enthusiasts don't have an awful lot of good things to say about standing coasters, I've only been on two of them. Shockwave at KD, and Mantis/Rougarou. In my experience, Mantis was on the threshold of really fun and just plain painful, Shockwave was a good amount of fun, but I just think that standing during the ride felt really awkward. With the advent of the inverted coaster, the floorless coaster, the flying coaster, and now the winged coaster, it seems like the idea of standing up while riding a roller coaster seemed to have failed when it comes to the long term, despite the fact that there is approximately 20 standups that were built. I think the reason why they became popular in its time is the GP effect. Back when standups were invented, there were no floorless coasters, no flying coasters, and no inverted coasters. The idea of standing up during the ride seemed like a really novel concept, of course now we know that compared to inverts and wing coasters, stand ups are very uncomfortable rides.... So, do you think that the idea of a stand up coaster was a failed concept?
  23. There was a time, that Dorney Park had a real edge over Hershey Park. From 1997 to 2012, they had a 205 foot tall coaster that goes 75mph, they also have a VERY unique floorless coaster with multiple unique inversions. Now, Hershey basically killed two birds with one stone by building a freakin' FLOORLESS INTAMIN HYPER with tons of ejector air, something that is definitely missing from Steel Force. SFGADV got at one point, the worlds tallest and fastest roller coaster, they got a cool hand-me-down coaster, (that is UNFORTUNATLEY a standing coaster)...What did Dorney get? A coaster that COULD have been cool, if it actually functioned like a roller coaster should.
  24. The fact is, Dorney needs a new coaster and FAST. Hersheypark has become another coaster paradise for east coast dwellers like us and its time that Dorney take a look at SFGADV and Hershey and start stepping up to the plate.
  25. I've felt that way ever since they sold Laser. Dorney lost a real winner with that one, an in its place they put a coaster that can't even function like a normal ride.
