  1. I have to kind of agree with you there. Maverick would have easily been my #2 steel coaster, if it wasn't for the restraints. Though it's still #10 on my list, which isn't half bad. Anyway, I consider myself average in size at 5'10" 200 lbs and these restraints are not fun at all. Now I did ride Maverick 9 times over a 2 day span, so some soreness was to be expected. ...But to have bruises around my neck/collar bone area for a week afterwards is definitely not something Intamin should be striving for with their guests. I just hope the extra padding near the ear area helps. Again, I think it's a bad combination having these restraints on a coaster with this kind of speed and layout.
  2. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, because I wouldn't mind having Nemesis in my back yard here in Florida. Yes, I know some of their newer coasters haven't been great, but Nemesis is still a top 10 steel coaster. Could you imagine having Kumba and Nemesis in the same park. Yes, I know the theme wouldn't fit, but still. ...Wow.
  3. ...Maverick restraints, 90+ mph, and quick transitions is a bad combination in my opinion. I have a feeling there are going to be a "few" people holding their necks getting off this ride come April. It's one thing if the transitions are more drawn out like on Millennium Force, but this ride is really pushing the envelope with this layout. I just pray that they don't trim it to death to compensate for the restraints, speed, and transitions.
  4. Wow, what a dumb***!!! I want to say more, but it's a PG-13 website.
  5. Just seeing Paramount and theme park in the same sentence leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
  6. ^^Yea, I just watched the video and the train does seem to go over that second hill pretty fast. It definitely looked good. Edit: ...And no I wasn't able to make out the restraints.
  7. ^Yea, that's what I was thinking. Those photos seem like they could be from the teaser video on the KD website.
  8. Hopefully it's just an April fools joke.
  9. ^^Not sure how many more, but isn't there one more color in the Tron universe? ...Red??? Heck, I remember seeing the first Tron movie in the theaters. It was many, many years ago.
  10. Overall, I think Busch does a pretty good job with Kumba. Yes, the stains and rust aren't flattering, but the coaster still provides a great ride after all these years. Except for the one rough part before the first corkscrew, the ride is actually quite smooth.
  11. ^^Yea, I knew exactly what he meant. I was just saying that I thought the current Cheetah was a waste, and would prefer a Maverick style coaster with the same theme instead. I wasn't trying to imply that it would replace it.
  12. ^^Just think of it as research, for when it does really happen in two and half years. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  13. Not to mention, some of the scenes in the ride may be a little scary for the little ones.
  14. I agree, nicely done on the TR and lack of Harry pictures. I guess I'm just tired of construction pics at this point. Oh and thanks for the DD pics too, It's always nice to see the old coaster. Though, it's always going to be Dueling Dragons to me.
  15. From what I've heard it may be a Maverick style ride themed to a Cheetah, that would be amazing if it's true, but don't they already have a coaster with Cheetah in it's name. You mean that waste of a coaster in Timbuktu that was handed down from BGW. Trust me, I would take a Maverick style Cheetah themed coaster over that generic wild mouse Cheetah any day. I just had to say that. I got my Cheetah Chase credit years ago, and haven't looked back since. As for the Millennium Flyers, thank you!!! It's about time!!!! Heck, the last time I was even on Gwazi, was a little over a year ago. ...And that's with a season pass and going 6-7 times a year. I really do hope this helps the ride, because it really could be a fun coaster.
  16. So basically it's now DC:Horntail and DC:Fireball, instead of DD:Fire and DD:Ice. ...or Hornball for short. Perhaps I'll just call it Dueling Dragons.
  17. The supports have nothing to do with determining whether it's a wooden or steel coaster.
  18. 12/20. You would think I would get at least one or two of my guesses right. Wrong, oh well.
  19. ^I agree, it did seem like they didn't want to say too much at this time.
  20. They are now calling it an accident, pending further investigation.. The trainer apparently slipped and fell into the water (back holding tank) and wasn't pulled in. More info to come.
  21. Wow, this is very sad. Now I'll wait to see what they say on the local news down here. Edit: Bay news 9 just cut in for a few minutes with this breaking news. I guess they'll have more coverage later. Apparently, Tilly was the name of the Killer Whale involved.
  22. I believe they were running 3 trains this morning with only a 10 minute wait and all the rows were being used. This was around 11 am too. They would assign you a row at the front of the line and then you waited with the other people for your train to be emptied. It basically was done on the fly.
  23. Der Der Dongt, As Robb mentioned a couple of pages back, there's no set date yet for media day, so I'm sure there aren't any set dates for the opening either. So with that said, take the following rumored dates with a grain of salt. Dueling Dragons is rumored to be going down the end of February, the new island to open either the first or second week in April, and everything definitely open no later than May 28th. Again just rumors, but I think you'll be safe the second half of May.
  24. ^^You may want to ask the people who are turned away from the Intamin coasters with T-bars. ...like Bizarro, ROS, S:ROS, MF, TTD, etc. Having been all those rides along with Storm Runner and Maverick, the OTSR do have more wiggle room and the T-bars are definitely more restrictive. It's all about the lap/belly, not the shoulder area. As far as Maverick's OTSR, I'm only repeating what was said by CP reps during the coasters opening season. "The OTSRs are being used because they are more accommodating."
  25. ^Sorry, I don't agree. The main reason for the restraints is to accommodate more riders due to size. If the laterals are that severe, you're going to have people hurting their necks no matter what. Anyway, it really doesn't matter because we're getting the straps, and I'm sure it'll be an improvement over those on Maverick.
