Russia to build Vekoma GIB in Sochi

^Three events in four years with a park that's behind schedule doesn't instill confidence in me. -

Wow! I wonder if this park will survive when no one visits Sochi after the Olympics! -

ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange 2013!
SharkTums replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
FYI - Plenty of people are signing up, just not everyone is posting here and that's fine. I like to buy people random stuff instead of something they say they want! -
^What are the rumors? Discounts on some of the premium Halloween stuff maybe?

I can't imagine they will run this during the winter so is it going to be like Flying Turns and run a few weekends before closing for the season? -
2014 TPR Tour Questionnaire is out!
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah, just to add on to what Robb said once again Pacific Northwest lost out! The three trips were literally split in thirds by popularity. So we're going to reward the people that sign up for Mini New Hotness with getting to pick something they like (or we'll just decide something) and then open it up to everyone. I can tell you that KT is really asking for a trip to Knoebels so I could see that being worked into something. -

I love the Europeans! A storm as massive as what you and the UK got over the last few days would have shut down production for at least a week over here and then been blamed 6 months later when the ride wasn't ready on time! Good job guys! -

Tours have been decided and will be up in the store by the end of the week for signups! -
That article didn't seem to have quite enough facts and actual information in it to be taken seriously. They basically just say that the bigger ones are more unsafe because there are more people on them. Nothing super scary or anything like 'the bigger they are the more likely they are to topple over' or something cool like that!

The Official TPR Update Thread!
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't mind the buttons (Celebrating/Just Married/Birthday/Anniversary) as long as someone is wearing them just one day and not feeling self entitled like I should come up to them and ask them "Oh, tell me all about your <>". I know about 10 years ago when it was slightly harder to get one, people were using them to try and get special things. It seems that now that everyone has them they're no longer special. Hmmm, come to think of it, maybe this will be the way the medals go! -

^Good question! I don't know, cause height restriction wise it would be one of the European ones but we may not make it back to those till she's already 48" then it could be any of the ones here in the states! Hoping to stretch her to 48" by this summers trips! -

What is going on with La Qua?
SharkTums replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^First off, lovely hotel choice! Make sure you watch Lost in Translation before you go! Yes, you can buy individual tickets for the rides at La Qua. I believe Thunder Dolphin is at least 1000 Yen per person per ride. How do you define 'local' theme parks in downtown Tokyo? Tokyo is GIANT, and with limited park opening hours it will be really hard to hit 2 or 3 in a day and practically impossible to hit more than 3. Perhaps think about Yomiuriland, Toshimaen, Hanayashiki, La Qua, Joypolis? (As La Qua and Joypolis are at least open later) Keep in mind you will be credit whoring only if you try to do this and that's really a shame as all of these parks have AMAZING hidden non coaster attractions. -

I think my issue with all sorts of these 'type' of documentaries is why we feel one animal is above another? Is it because they're cute? Or bigger? Or deemed smarter? Don't we learn new things about animals and species every day. Haven't they just decided that dolphins are no longer as smart as we originally thought? Why aren't they advocating to release all of the sharks back into the wild? Why do we only care about certain animals? How many of the people involved in the documentary have pets at home? By now through all of the breeding and generations aren't some of these orcas 'domesticated' like pets? The whole thing to me just seems dumb. SeaWorld is obviously not harming these animals on purpose to make a profit, and they do a TON of good out in the real world.
