deathbydinn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got mine today! My awesome Bag of Crap contained: -WCB 2009 SFMM Lanyard/schedule - Teh Big Dipper/Prince Desmond coaster - TPR Luggage Identifier - Coaster Expedition 9 DVD - Wild Adventures Knievel Tattoo - Blue TPR pen - 12 TPR candies - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party sticker - Universal Studios Singapore Studio Guide - Movieland Studios Italy map - Carowinds map - Happy Valley guide book - Legoland Cali. map - Adventure Island map - Oakwood map and a Cedar Point map Not only is the contents of this bag awesome, but I wanted to say how cool I think it is that my bag cost almost three dollars to ship but you still continue to send them out, and a large number of them too. Really something great that separates TPR from other coaster sites. -
October is easily my favorite time of the year, and there's really no better way to start then with a trip to Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America. I'll post short reviews of everything here, if you want to see more detailed reviews, click here. Scare Zones: Carousel Plaza: Really loved what they did the area this year, graveyard looked great and 3-4 actors just in the small area behind the carousel. 5/5 Bayou Du Vaudou: The Curse Of Laveau: Really no difference between Seven Sins and this, which I didn't like either. 2/5 The Last Stop: Burn 'Em and Buried Circus: Also not too changed from last year, but it didn't need changing as it was great. 4/5 Port Dread: Could maybe use a re-themed attraction, like say..Batman: Foggy Nights, but still a very good zone. 4/5 Yukon Territory: Not really sure why this as listed as a scare zone just because it has the entrance to Necropolis but ok. No actors, not much theming, but I guess it's better than leaving it bare. 1/5 The Ruins of Fenrir: I'm not going to rate this one as it was the only one I didn't see after 4. It was just cornstalks and dead trees, but I guess with fog and actors it could work. I'll be sure to check it out on my next visit. ?/5 Hellmouth: Lacking theming, but actors had cool costumes. 2/5 Tinseltown Terror: Nicely themed, but it'd be nice to see some new stuff as it's mostly Area 51 stuff. More and better actors though. 4/5 Sector 7: My favorite zone. Great theming throughout, even reaching onto two rides and easily the best scare-actors. 5/5 Haunts: Necropolis: I got a better look at this year, and it's pretty good for being free. There was one actor about 10 feet away from the path trapped in a cage or something, which was weird. Would be nice to see her moved closer as it's in kinda of an empty part of it, but still good overall. 4/5 Massacre Medical Center: Only real house I did. Being in the middle of a large group it was fun, but not scary. Good theming with some cool effects and gags throughout. I'll give it a 4, had I been scared it would probably be a 5. Shows: Love at First Fright: It's Laff, nuff' said. 5/5 Onto the pictures. The park entrance has never been this pretty. They could really use a pool boy to clean things up a bit.. A skeleton..holding a skull..huh. He actually appears to be above ground. I have never seen flimsier skeletons. Someone needs more calcium. Some tombstones are funny, this is not an example of one of those. I don't get it. Witch, please. If this makes sense to you, please tell me. That posture cannot be good for him. If someone replaced my arm with a branch, I'd scream too. Best zone, hands down. If barrels=theming, then Sector 7 = tons of theming. Killed by radiation, I assume. Theming in BioHazard's (Whizzers) queue. And some more. So much theming in its exit! Power plant stuff. The movies have never been so "reel." And here I was under the impression weapons weren't allowed in the park. Demon wants to be special. They should really have that snap shut when people try to enter. Huge satellite and the park still only gets one channel. UFO in Southwest Territory, and no reference to Cowboys Vs. Aliens. Disappointed. Annnnd, they're forgiven. Viper had snakes everywhere. They must have bought 5 stores out of rubber snakes. They really covered the station with them. I saw no signs for Hellmouth, so here is Demons. And that's the extent of it's theming. And with that, we awkwardly transition to the ride graveyard. If I could only ride this one more time... ...like these guys. That it was not. Someone get George Lucas on the phone. I really wish we still had this. Or these. Or this. Actually, just bring it all back. I know a lot of people don't like these rides, but I love them. Why yes, I did take a picture of every grave. They did have good artwork.. Because two just wasn't enough. Odd that they only painted half.. ..maybe because a few cars are yet to be killed? www.savegreatamericaraceway.com I'd say it's forgotten, as this was the first time I'd ever heard of it. Must have been to go through 7 years of storms. I suppose it's a fair trade. It has a grave, but it's still standing. Heh. Looks like they spent more on its grave than on its closing day decorations! The Edge, where the car fell off the ledge. Iowa? It lives in death, as it did in life. Is the Demon what he seems..or just a bad bad dream? One more, you can make it. See, it can work if its a ride people actually care about. Speaking of dead rides.. Dead man walking. Not super easy to get de-construction shots, but here's this. And this. Came out decent for having to hold the camera over a fence. And with that, we journey into Port Dread. Being a pirates hard work. Apparently, Pirates love corn. If you really want to guard your treasure, should have gone with Sharktopus! Crates. Spooky stuff. Those are some quality fishing hooks. Wouldn't want to be stuck with face forever. Time for another awkward transition into The Last Stop: Burn 'Em and Buried Circus. Having signs up would really help with these. The clown was lifting 2000. Just sayin' How he got his big hand stuck in that tiny slot is beyond me. He could just quit. Not in this economy! Mwhuahah The clowns have escaped, its Threat Level: Midnight Doubt he's having clean thoughts about that alligator.. Doubt she is either. The queue is under clown control as well. And so is the ride controls, making for one uncomfortable ride. Yes, I realize the photo isn't centered well, but at least it's a decent transition. Not much different from last year. Since Bayou Du Vaudou was pretty lame, I only took one picture of it, so here's Batman instead. Much better than some tombs with a few flowers in front. And this is the pirate that lives in a corn stalk conveniently next to Batman. (Ok, I just forgot to include it earlier.) ...same with this. R.I.P. Necropolis time! The SBNO Wilderness Theater Not sure what ride this is from, seems too small for Rolling Thunder, so a flat perhaps? Even the dead gotta exercise. They spelled Necropolis wrong. Typical post office service. Necropolis as fantastic food offerings. And a gym to die for. So punny. Eh, we're in Illinois, this is a daily occurrence. Wait for it... There we go. Hey, in one year he moved from the park to his own dumpster, by 2050 he could have a mansion! And with that, I end this report with something to look forward too. (And a pretty good discount too ) Thanks for reading!

Just got back from Fright Fest, thought I'd share my thoughts on it. I'll have pictures up either later tonight or tomorrow. Overall, I thought the event was better this year compared to last. There seemed to be more theming, a lot more scare-actors and just an overall better atmosphere. The Gorilla and the FF ride signs are yet to be put up (except for Terror Twisters) but with the recent weather I was surprised more wasn't done. Plus, the park was very empty for FF, so that just makes it better on its own. Carousel Plaza: The graveyard around the reflection pool looked great, and just in the small area behind the carousel and between the entrance to HTS and OP, there were 3 or 4 actors while I don't remember seeing any there last year! Bayou De Vaudou: I didn't like Seven Sins Cemetery, I didn't like this. Pretty much the same theming, but at least there were 4 actors, were as last year I saw 1. Last Stop: Burn 'Em and Buried Circus: Not too different from last year, but the Dying Trapeze overlay was well done, and a clowns are just scary in general so it was pretty good. Necropolis: Different from last year, but better IMO. The asylum for the insane was gone, but the cool axe girl video/animatronic was still on display. Port Dread: One of the smaller zones, but very well themed with great scare-actors. The Ruins of Fenrir: According to the FF map the zone is between Fiddlers Flung and the train station, but all that was there was dead trees and cornstalks so..not too sure what that was all about. I didn't go by after 4 though, so I can't comment on scare-actors. The ride graveyard, while not technically in the zone, is nearby and was very well done. SWF, SW and GAR cars on display, plus a freshly dug grave for IW. (Which is completely blocked by cornstalks, so to get any deconstruction pictures you have to stick a camera over the fence.) Hellmouth: Seemed like a bit of an afterthought. Outside of Demons sign and the wood-chip pentagram, there wasn't much theming. At least the scare-actors had cool costumes that were pretty unique. Tinseltown Terror: More spread out this year, twice the amount of actors, and new better costumes. Sector 7: Probably the best scare zone. Whizzer had some nice theming added to it that you see in line and on the ride itself, lots of radioactive barrels all over and as we know barrels=theming, and 4 or 5 scare-actors that seemed to be getting the most scares out of people. Plus it has LAFF and lots of pretty X Flight pictures, so it gets a few extra points of that. As for actual houses I only did Massacre Medical Center. It was good enough that I'd definitely do it again, but not after 5 when it's full price. I was in the middle of a large group, so while for me it wasn't particularly scary, it was still very fun. There's also a very cool scare they do at the beginning, which I wont spoil, but is definitely something that stuck out to me. As for shows, just LAFF, but like last year it was great. Same premise, same songs, mostly same cast, but better jokes IMO as well as a great use of Rebecca Blacks infamous "Friday." And then we get to Terror Twister Two: A Turn for the Worst. It's still amazing, had some cool new lights, and was just all around great. The music could definitely be turn up though, as you can hear it from outside the ride, but isn't all too loud on the inside. Might just be me, but I think for a ride like this the music should be blasting. The DJ was also not yet/will not be up. And thats it! I'll get pics up soon in my PTR thread, definitely looking forward to going back soon and hopefully trying a few other houses.

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread
deathbydinn replied to LcHg5265's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not just that, Morey's has quite a few rides up for sale right now. Chamber of Checkers, Carousel, Tilt A Whirl, Tornado, Mini Scrambler, Kiddie Helicopter ride, and their Frog Hopper are all on their Facebook up for sale. Kinda seems like a lot to get rid for a coaster, if that is why they're for sale. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

This seems like the kind of thing the GP would go crazy for to me.. "Zohmegee I went to this park and all of the coaster shoot you out at 1 zillion miles per hour and theres no boring slow up hill parts but three hundred people already died from flying out there seats buts its still so much fun omg." -
http://deathbydinn.tumblr.com/ I don't really use it a lot, mainly just when I think of something that's worth riding since I don't want a blog that's just full of re-blogs.

What's the worst station you've been in
deathbydinn replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not sure when you went, but for at least the last two years when Vipers line gets bad they have a worker cut it off about 4/5 of the way through to allow the station to clear out a little before sending more people. I agree that without one the station got crazy and very crowded. -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
deathbydinn replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ If not, the ride will be abandoned and Dinosaurs Alive will be built in it's place. Really though, it's already back up. Just some site work..not really a big deal. -
The only one I can think of is Air Grover at BGT. I had planned to ride it, but after making a loop around the park and never seeing the entrance to the Sesame Street area I decided I'd just skip it unless we somehow stumbled into the area, which we never did. Oh, and there was the Back at the Barnyard Hayride at NU, but that's powered so I probably wouldn't have counted it anyways!

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
deathbydinn replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Plans for parks change all the time like Chang @ SFGAm, the dive machine at SFFT, the MTV coaster at CGA, the wooden coaster at CGA all the proposed rides for SFA, Demon Drop @ Knotts and so on. Sometimes it has to do with management changes, or permits, competition and sometimes they probably just decide something else would be a better fit. So, the ride very well could have been destined for Knotts originally, and then one of those factors or something else sent it to CW instead. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

No... If you would have told people in 2008 that Canada's Wonderland would get a 300 footer, they would've all said no too, but here we are. -
I can't link the photos here, but SFAFans has posted a photo gallery from the parks Apocalypse preview center, showing the rides layout and how it will fit into the SM area. It also looks like some theming will be added in the second half of the ride that wasn't in the promo video. http://www.sfafans.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2804
