Roeding Park! Trip Report! Pictures!
gisco replied to Ryan King's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great job with the pics Ryan. I didn't know you took so many. I'll get mine up soon and tag them on here. -
I just got Back from DLP. Went there at the end of the UK trip. I stayed at the Sequoia Lodge at the resort. Took the train in from London and the station is at the resort which made it easy and nice. Went to Disney Studios first at about 2:00 P.M. Was able to do most everything by closing at 6:00. Hopped over to Disneyland and did a quick walk around the park, hit a few rides and ate dinner before closing at 8:00. Slept in the next day and got to Disneyland about noon. We were pretty wiped out from the UK trip and didn't want to get up early for once. We did just about everything in the park by closing that evening. Missed only Space Mountain because it was closed for filming, the train because of time and It's a Small World because .... It's a Small World. The following day we did touristy stuff in Paris. The last day our train didn't leave until 6:30 P.M. so we went back to Disney Studios and did a couple of things we didn't catch the first day, then hopped over to Disneyland and got the things we didn't get done before. Spent the rest of the day shopping and doing some rerides. I think unless your a real Disney fanatic 2 full days is enough to do both parks. Crowds will be larger in July then they were for us in June but the parks are open a little longer too. Use the Fastpass system to cut down on wait times. Have fun.

A link here was also posted in the ECC message threads. -
Yeah, when I went to Grad night at Disneyland the guys had to have ties and the girls had to be in dresses or pant suits. Of course that was in 79. My daughter went this year and dress code was pretty much the same as the schools. Not a formal event anymore.

I would ride X first, then Tatsu. Tatsu can handle more people per hour then X. I don't think you will have a problem if your there at opening, run to X then Tatsu. Depending on the crowds you might be able to do both twice. A good idea if you want to spend the money is to get their Flashpass or what ever its called. I think it gets you 4 front of line tickets that would be useful later in the day for rerides when it is crowded.

gisco replied to Ork1927's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Good timing on this report. Grat pics. I will be going there in 3 weeks. Taking the Eurostar straight to Disney and we are going to stay at the Sequoia Lodge. Plan on splitting time between the parks and going into Paris. -
Las Vegas Trip Review
gisco replied to coastercraze2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Give the kid a break. Lighten up! You must not travel much otherwise you would know that most people travel on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. I just went from Fresno to San Luis Obispo and back on Saturday in 5 Hours. The roads are empty. The winds were bad this weekend. I don't know what they were like in Vegas but they would close the big coasters and if the coasters are closed due to winds the rides on top of the tower would be closed too. He never said that Canyon Blaster was closed, He said he never checked. Guess what, I went to Vegas last year to .......... ride the coasters, not gamble or do anything else. Lets see, I'm 45, married with 3 kids. That makes me a parent so I must be from Mars! Was there less then 24 hours. You don't take kids to Vegas if you want a romantic weekend. Driving 4-1/2 hours to Vegas is no different then driving 4-1/2 hours to a theme park for the day. I think what he said is all possible. -
Great job on the campout Robb & Elissa. That would have been a pretty boring campout had it not been for all the hardwork you guys did. I liked some of the comments I over heard "Wow, I wish out group did something like that" and "How much did this cost everybody?" and I got to reply "Nothing". I think you will have a few new members from that campout. You guys rocked. Tatsu was great. Everybody could pretty much ride as much as they wanted once the media was done. I thought the restaints were very comfortable. Hard to say were you got the best ride. I liked the front because of the view but the back had a lot more force. I didn't think there was any real bad seats. The pretzel loop really drills you into your seat. I noticed that the coaster was running a lot faster late in the day. It was breaking pretty hard in that block right before you make the turn towards the station late in the day. I didn't notice much breaking at all in the morning. The rest of the park was pretty empty so most of the coasters were walk ons. I don't know what the line for X was like because we rode it when it opened. I finally got my DeJa Vu credit too. I guess it helps to have Shapero in the park.. It was a great day Bob

You don't cook cookies, you bake them. Why aren't they called bakies then?

I was lucky enough to get 2 rides, no waiting, both front seat. It is one of those rides that you look at and think that this could be a really great ride. The you ride it and find out otherwise. I don't dislike the ride but I wouldn't want to wait 90 minutes to ride it like the line was 30 minutes after the park opened. The problem I had with the launch was that it made my eyes water and it took me half the ride before I could see clearly again. After the launch the ride is nothing special until the top hat. The slope is too steep and it really throws you against the restraints. I think if the slope had been gentler to give floater air time, it would have made it better.

Nara Dreamland closing
gisco replied to PKIDelirium's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When we were there last September, the rumor was they would be open 2 more years. I was kind of hoping that they would stay open at least until the TPR Japan trip. Hopefully Aska will be saved and moved to another park. This coaster is so good, you will loose your clothes! -
The Ultimate Disney Theme Park Dream
gisco replied to Ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is not as far fetched as you think. This topic has come up in other threads and Elissa has commented on it. She has thought of it and more might be said after the UK trip is over. I have thought of this too. My idea is a little more insane because I can't afford to take off a lot of time. I figure spending 1 day in each park. 10 parks, travel time, about 17 days total. The insane part is not the cost but the brutal schedule I would Start in Hong Kong, then Tokyo, Paris, Orlando and finally Anaheim. The last park would be Disneyland, the place where it all started. If I had any extra days I would stick them in Tokyo and Orlando. Bob - This trip will happen - Hoffman -
A question to all that have been on both TOT's
gisco replied to Damien666's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know how we can settle which TOT is better. We have a TPR trip to both parks to ride them with in a few days of each other. Then we will be able to tell which is the better Tower. Better yet, we can wait a few years and then we can hit the TOT in Tokyo and Paris too. At that point we might as well hit Hong Kong so we can compare all the rides at all the Disney parks. So when do we start planning an around the world trip to hit all the Disney parks? -
Flashback at SFMM Re-Opening???
gisco replied to roller coaster fanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm hoping that with Tatsu opening next month that they will open Flashback this year so they can claim 17 coasters. Of course they probably will claim 17 anyway and not open it. -
Trip Planning - Los Angeles Area 5/15/06
gisco replied to ECZenith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think crowds will be a problem. Most kids will still be in school in California and your going during the week. Late afternoon and evenings will see an incease in people. Disneyland will probably be least busy on Thursday. Use the Fastpass and you should have more then enough time for both parks. I think both Tatsu and X will have long lines unless you can get there at opening. X doesn't have great thru put and Tatsu will be the new kid on the block that everyone wants to ride. Be prepared to wait that first day when your not there at opening. -
"Best. Coaster. Ever." Round 1
gisco replied to Superdasher's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this thread is pointless. For one, in order to judge the best once and for all everyone would have to have ridden all these rides. I doubt there are many here who have. They would also have to agree on what makes a coaster the “Best”. People have different likes and dislikes on what makes a coaster good. This question will never be settled. -
Any Rock Climbers or other outdoors people on TPR
gisco replied to DailyBugle_JL's topic in Random, Random, Random
I used to climb a little when I was younger. My brother was the big climber in the family. We have spent a lot of time in Yosemite hiking and climbing. Two years ago I hiked to the top of Half Dome and I plan on doing it again this Summer. It's a 17 mile round. When you scale the dome itself there are a couple of steel cables to help you make it to the top. -

gisco replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
These pictures were taken the 2nd to the last weekend the park was open last October. The crowds were not bad on Friday night but was packed on Saturday with long waits at most of the rides. Mayan Mindbender Viper Serial Thriller, I liked this ride a lot XLR-8 up the spike Greezed Lightnin, a great ride! Batman The Escape Inclined lift hill, not like the verticle lift hill of the one at Nagashima Spa Land Ultra Twister Texas Cyclone, already packed and the park just opened -

Knott's Solace 2006 Question
gisco replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think you need any proof that your a coaster fanatic to get into Solace. They didn't ask me for any last year and I don't know of anyone who did get asked. Since the flyer for the event is posted on a public web site and there is no mention of having to be a member of a group, I can't see how or why they would require it. Besides, paying $46 for a ticket is proof enough your a coaster fanatic. They do mention you have to be an ACE member to get a discount on special merchandise in the park but not into the park. Besides, worst case is find someone in line who is a member and ask to be their guest.
