  1. Virginia is the better place for steel coasters. New England is the better place for wood coasters. If you are looking at just roller coasters, you should decide if you want some of the best steel coasters in the world, or a whole lot of wooden coasters. My personal opinion is biased by the fact I live in Virginia, and of course my username. Hope that helps.
  2. ^ I honestly think they care more about getting it done on time than the blog or Novak. I guess we will see the lift completed today, it should look even more impressive once its lift and drop are completed.
  3. ^Yeah, I'd say at this point you are right. But, who knows, I am still going to watch the webcam from time to time tonight.
  4. Webcam is getting too blurry to see anything. Hopefully, they will turn the spotlights on soon!
  5. Even John Pagal (KD PR Manager) said he was not completely sure what the harnesses would be like, but most think they will be similar to the coaster in this youtube video. Should we give it a name? How about Finish Line. I'd stay peeled to the webcam for the rest of the day! I like the name, or considering its color and the events that went on over summer I'd go with Whyte Lightening.
  6. A new Huge White Crane is up. I wonder if this one is for topping off the lift, as it appears to be bigger than the other two cranes. EDIT: Looks like they are preparing to put up another piece of track, get your popcorn ready.
  7. That twitpic description says topping off may be today! Cannot wait to see if they get it done today! If not maybe tomorrow.
  8. Indeed, they have added at least one piece on to this lift. Webcam Image from This Morning: Webcam Image from This Evening: [/img]
  9. I circled the lift construction in white. I believe they constructed that before all of the rain last week.
  10. ^So far the only park that has been confirmed getting new rides out of the Planet Snoopy re-theme is Canada's Wonderland. Other than that I think the other parks Planet Snoopy's will just be a much needed refurb and redo of theming. Finally, no more cancelled Nick shows all around Kings Dominion (i.e. Hey Arnold and Wild Thornberries). The Snoopy brand is a timeless thing that everyone can identify with and will never be cancelled or forgotten. Even possibly without new rides the 4 other former Paramount Parks will definitely benefit from this much needed re-theme. Kings Dominion especially with the addition of I305 is hopefully set to have a great year next year.
  11. Your probably right, and I hope you are. As for Scooby Doo's new name, I am putting my money on "Its a Coaster Charlie Brown".
  12. http://kingsdominion.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=92 Some of the names have already been changed to generic names to remove Hannah Barbara/Nick theming on KD's site. Also, they have removed the Nick Central page from the site. I bolded the one's that have been changed since last year, most of them just took off the name of the character, but kept the general name (ie. Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster is now Ghoster Coaster).
  13. Hopefully Burnett has another solid 7 or so inning outing giving up 3 runs or less. I think that will be enough to get a win tonight, but you never know with Burnett, he seems to get a bit to "wild" sometimes.
  14. Sickening. And Yanks fans wonder why they and the team are generally hated by everyone else (with certain exceptions...Hi, Big Mike). Do the Yankees fans set the ticket prices, why should we be hated just because Steinbrenner is obsessed with money? Also, Yankees ranked second in total attendance this year behind the Dodgers, so most of New Yankee Stadium's seats are certainly almost never empty. On another note, I really hope the Yankees win this year. I think it might be the last chance for some of the vets on the team (i.e. Posada and Rivera) to get another World Series ring.
  15. This coaster looks like the culmination of all of the greatest features of Intamin's various coasters. It certainly has already changed the skyline of Kings Dominion, even barely reaching its full height. If the real ride experience is anything near as good as the virtual POV video makes it look, I could find it very reasonable for this coaster to be ranked in the top 5 in the Golden Ticket Awards next year.
  16. ^ That's not a bad thing! Just a few less people in the huge line for I305 to increase my wait time!
  17. I cannot wait until April 2010. Intimidator 305 is going to be one of the most superior coasters in the world.
  18. Mine's pretty obvious. I am almost on youtube everyday if you wanna leave a message, send a friend invite, etc. http://www.youtube.com/user/KingsDominionLvr
  19. Man, now I am glad I got out of this argument in its beginning stages. Now, there are so many opinions and replies my I get a headache reading them all. What I notice is people keep going back to the point that a B&M Stand up was planned for Six Flags America, but they decided for Kings Dominion's Flying Dutchman which KD passed on. Problem with this argument is Batwing opened in 2001, so from 2001-2009 how can anyone assume a contract was not made between Busch Gardens and Six Flags America? If anyone had solid info. that proved there was not a contract in these 8 years, wouldn't it have got out by now? Next, another thing people have been saying is Six Flags America's wooden coasters are better than Kings Dominion's which somehow makes Six Flags America's ride collection better. Considering SFA has 2 wooden coasters, how can one make a leap to say that these two coasters are what breaks the tie, what makes SFA's ride collection better than that of Kings Dominion? With the additions of Dominator and Intimidator, I would think most people would consider Kings Dominion's steel coasters better, and their flat rides are a bit better too. So, how can one say Roar and Wild One are what makes Six Flags America better than Kings Dominion when they are not even the best two coasters at SFA? I just don't understand. As for Joker's Jinx versus Flight of Fear, how does one break run ruin the whole ride? Is that the only basis to which we should judge a ride? As far as I am concerned, people seem to have forgot about elements such as theming, top speed, etc. And as for the person who can give me a list of everyone he/she knows who cannot tell the difference between the two, please do, you can PM me them or just post them here. Even if you can, making an already almost identical coaster to Flight of Fear enclosed as some people have suggested would pretty much make it a dead giveaway to everyone that they are identical. Finally, I really hope the new additions to SFA (Thomas Town and the possible new coaster(s) really help Six Flags America compete with Kings Dominion and maybe even Busch Gardens Europe. Why would I not? SFA is actually closer to my house, but I would rather go to Kings Dominion due to the very wide quality gap between the two. Six Flags feels a bit run down and old to me. This is the same way I felt about Kings Dominion before Cedar Fair took over. Since then (including 2010) KD has gotten 3 water rides, 2 flat rides, a re-themed kiddie section, and 2 major coasters. If the new management at SFI can pull something similar off, I could realistically see myself going to SFA more than once or twice a year. That is pretty much last thing I am going to say on this topic. I think that pretty much sums up my views on SFA quite well.
  20. Looks great, soon we will see Intimidator become part of the beautiful skyline of Kings Dominion.
  21. Glad to hear SFA is cleaning up their act a bit more, I went earlier this year (late July) and noticed the same thing, but it sounds as if more had happened since I had been. There is still a whole lot of stuff they need to address, but hopefully they will continue on the right track.
  22. You definitely can't say that about NY Jest fans. Hey! We are all not like that! The Jets on MNF, living in Virginia, I cannot wait to finally see one of their games on television.
  23. ^If you did not understand what I meant, I am talking about the general population of the US. Not everyone goes to amusement parks, in fact a lot of people have never even been on a roller coaster. So, when they do finally make it to any amusement park and ride a coaster (such as Joker's Jinx), they will most likely consider it fast, more thrilling than it really is, etc. because they have never experienced anything like it. Just remember back to your first coaster, now do you think it is as thrilling as you did back then? Joker's Jinx is still pretty fast, just by riding it multiple times, I would guesstimate the top speed at around 50-55mph. I think SFA's number is a bit inflated. Anyway, that is still pretty fast, I mean it is no kiddie coaster in speed terms. It has about average speed I would say. But, back to my point on the GP, A person who had never ridden a coaster before would probably consider it the best in the world, around 80mph top speed, etc. Your perspective changes after you gain (for lack of a better word) experience riding coasters.
