  1. What did I say... looks like some sort of helix to me. I am surprised that they did not wait to start vertical construction until after the announcement, but I seem to recall someone saying they were behind schedule. Anyway, thank god and it is about time for some supports to be going up (even if it is only a few feet).
  2. Sounds to me like Cedar Fair is really adding a lot of new haunt stuff to their more major parks. I also wanted to ask a question. Is it true Blood Shed, which I consider to be one of the worst haunt mazes at KD, will be replaced with the Slaughterhouse maze seen at many other CF parks?
  3. Where do I sign up? LOL Anyway, if they make this compact I really hope it does not mean maybe sacrificing airtime, another good idea would be to add helix's (i.e. Ride of Steel) towards the end of the ride when the momentum has slowed a bit, personally I consider those more fun than overbanked turns.
  4. Congrats on that, anyway maybe some sort of modification could be done to get the clamshells on the floorless trains.
  5. I would definitely think about hitting Six Flags America and Kings Dominion instead if you are staying in DC or just Six Flags America. Here are the approximate hours away from DC each park is to give you an idea. Six Flags America: 25 Minutes, 40 Minutes in Traffic taking DC-295 Kings Dominion: 1 Hour 25 Minutes, 25 more minutes in traffic taking I-95 Busch Gardens Europe: 2 hours 35 Minutes taking various roads and interstates
  6. You gotta love the restraints on B&Ms Hyper Coaster trains, they are obviously are superior to a Floorless Train's OSTRs, but I think if it were to be a floorless hyper coaster, they would do away with those things in favor of the clamshell restraint design. Also, A floorless train on a hyper coaster,in my opinion at least would be much greater than those on loopers because of the additional speed and airtime a hyper provides. My .02 anyway.
  7. Mega Lites look spectacular, I really hope this giga packs a whole lot of airtime, but if not it will still be a beast.
  8. Oh, Okay thanks, I was not sure. In that case, I wonder if the hyper will feature the same trains that are on Diamondback and Behemoth or revert back to the old design which many people prefer.

  10. If 11 million is the total cost of the coaster, which I could not really tell from the article, then that is probably not enough for a hyper. Just by looking at various sites, Floorless coasters and B&M Loopers are usually within that cost range, though some are a bit more and I did not factor inflation for the older ones. If this is truly the total cost, then a B&M Floorless or Looper is more in line with the cost. But, I would not totally panic at this point if you want a hyper at Carowinds.
  11. As I Jets fan, I say thank god Brett is gone. All is forgiven from last season though, we have got ourselves a QB of the future.
  12. This is the plan for CP's announcement date. They will release it on twitter, then tell everyone a different date on facebook, then claim another different date on myspace.
  13. Ahh, so the rumors are true, there is going to be a donut jelly splashdown.
  14. Let me ask you this. How are Kings Island and Canada's Wonderland in the top 20? While I have never been to Canada's Wonderland, I have heard the same claim of "all rides, no shows" and have personally witnessed it at Kings Island. How do they make it in to the top 20? Kings Dominion pulls from DC, Northern Virginia, and Richmond, so you cannot argue area. In my opinion, the answer is, no reason. Especially because Richmond and Northern Virginia have not seen as dramatic job loss and drop and house value as the rest of the country. There is absolutely no reason they cannot crack the top 25. And adding a giga, a floorless, and much more certainly cannot hurt. With all this talk about theming, the giga could just be the start, there could be a whole nother' section of the park in store. I see no reason that in 1-3 years Kings Dominion could not crack the top 25. With that being said, I am going to take a bit of an hiatus from the site because I am going up to New Jersey to visit family and maybe hit Six Flags Great Adventure. Talk to you guys later.
  15. Sorry Everyone, excuse me for having a life away from TPR. Anyway, I pretty much hate basketball, and even I know who Chris Paul is. Back to KD Discussion, I was thinking about what some of you guys wrote. Canada's Wonderland has basically no competition, heck a B&M Hyper is their nation's tallest coaster. On the other hand, America has a much more competitive market, and probably the most competitive in the world. The giga may not instantly pay off in attendance, but I would call it fair to say they should be in the top 25 in 1-2 years and the top 20 in 4-5 years. Just some food for thought.
  16. May I point out that Canada's Wonderland only has one park to compete with (La Ronde). While the other former 4 Paramount Parks have Cedar Point, Busch Gardens Europe, Six Flags America, Freestyle Music Park, Dollywood, Disneyland, Knotts, etc. Also, while Kings Dominion is not the top Paramount Park, I would bet that the addition of Dominator, 3 water rides, 2 flat rides, and a Giga Coaster (everything added after Paramount left) would make it the best or at least second.
  17. ^Hopefully, this giga will put them in the top 25! As for wes, i will refer you to the 2008 (most recent) tea attendance report. http://www.teaconnect.org/etea/TEAERA2008.pdf
  18. The two Bizarro's were not build the same year.
  19. I am pretty darn sure that is a rat.
  20. That is obviously because they added Behemoth, they have higher attendance than Cedar Point as well. As for the coaster, I would have to say a giga coaster would be more thrilling then a B&M hyper due to height and speed just as long it features more airtime hills then over banked turns.
  21. ^ The Hurler's have the exact same layout. This Giga Coaster and Hyper Coaster almost definitely will have different layouts.
  22. Deep Voiced Announcer, Get ready to ride The Double Shot: Espresso Coaster, and don't spill your coffee. I am so glad no one spilled the beans about this new coaster early.
  23. I highly doubt two coasters 5-6 hours away from each other, both being built in the same year, will be themed and named exactly the same. Does that mean they both won't have racing themes, no, but it does mean they will both be unique.
  24. Peru, perhaps, if that is what I think it is.
  25. Dominator debuted last year (2008), not 2007. If you are correct about Michigan Adventure's coaster (being up the same time as Dominator), then that would put it debuting in 2008 as well. After all, Geauga Lake closed in 2007, so there is no way Thunderhawk could have been built at MI the same year it was operating at Geauga Lake. Back on topic, seeing all the similarities between all of the 2010 Cedar Fair Coasters, I would say they are going to be completely different. Why? Because of what Cedar Point has been doing on twitter and facebook, throwing coaster enthusiasts off their trail. My guess is that they would not try to even use remotely the same theme on coasters 5-6 hours away from each other (Carowinds and KD), and we know Cedar Point is going to get something unique (have they ever not)!
