Flight of Fear's Station is awesome, but a bit weird as well. -
Heading to Williamsburg for BGE & KD
kingsdominionlvr replied to nerdboyrockstar's topic in Ask Alvey
It is good until about 5-10 hours later. I alaways pack my lunch when I go to either park because of the prices, plus nothing beats a roast beef sandwich and a mountain dew on a nice day at either park! -
Is this the post to which you refer? If so, yes I managed to read all of it. Still, I'm confused as to which part of it makes my response any less relevant. I have not been to California or Knotts in 13 years. Now do you understand why I did not know they had a B&M? If you are going to comment on what coaster a park should build next, and you haven't been in a long time, may I suggest you look at RCDB.com before you do so? You will not find me on a KD thread suggesting a floorless B&M...like, say the Dominator. OMG I have never been to KD, how did I know you had one?? I am detecting a bit of a mean tone, I am sorry if I offended you by making one mistake. As for rcdb, considering last time i visited that site, my computer crashed (not blaming it on that, but I am playing it safe), I don't really visit it at all. Next, look at Busch Gardens Europe, they have 3 B&Ms, it never hurts to have more than one. MOD EDIT by larrygator: Enough of this out of the two of you. Please drop these little back and forth attacks and get back on topic.

Park promotion, yes. But who's to say it wasn't the beginning of the marketing for the coaster? With it being in the general area of FoF, a space/alien theme is entire plausible - don't count it out until we know otherwise. Another Problem with a space theme, is it will most likely come close to Anaconda and Rebel Yell, which would obviously kill the Space theme mood. Though, they may be able to pull of a space theme enclosed queue line. My guess, is it will be something with no particular theme, such as Millie and Dominator, after all Cedar Fair is the King of good rides/awful names and theming.

They food at Kings Dominion is great (Starbucks, Boardwalk Fries, Cinnabon, etc.), but it is a bit costly. On the other hand, my girlfriend has got food poisoning twice from Busch Gardens food. Overall, I would reccomend you bring lots of cold water (they let you bring 1 bottle into the park), and pack your lunch for a cheap, fun trip. I would recommend Kings Dominion's funnel cakes though with Strawberry's and whipped cream! -
Sorry, but this is a selling point to not protest the ride removal? Although I personally wouldn't waste my time doing such a thing, I have nothing but respect for the people who love a ride so much they are willing to dedicate their time doing the only thing they feel they can do. I think anyone who says they are against "protesting" the removal of a classic ride is taking the term itself out of context. There are good and bad forms of protest. One way is meant to hurt an individual or group by attempting to convince other people into your beliefs. The other form is simply a statement that has no one-sided opinion or negative motive. I don't think a couple of people standing outside of BBW's entrance with "Save BBW" and "Big Bad Wolf is leaving" signs is an attempt to do any bit of harm to the park at all. If the park doesn't want them there, they will let them know and if they follow the park's wishes (which they prob. would) the event would be nothing more than a sign of gratitude to the park for providing a ride that people feel this deeply about in the first place. If anything good is to come out of this, it's to let people know that other great rides and parks are in danger of the same fate. Raising public awareness about the current state of the industry is important so that more people spend more of their money supporting their favorite park they owe some of the best times of their lives to. All the great traditional parks that have kept their rides restored since the 1900s-1950s era are an excellent example of what must be done to preserve the history of rides from the last 40 years. Like you said, "many steel coasters from the 70s-80s era will soon be gone" and when they are, and you we are all old folks, we will wish that there was an initiative or at least a general consensus among the public to preserve them. Our grandparents cared about restoring their past and so should we. Now here's an example of BAD park protest: So, hypocrisy (paying the same business you protest against for tickets) is good protest, and protesting for animal rights (though I don't necessarily agree with what they are saying) is bad protest. I think we can all disagree with that. Screamscape now says this will not be a protest, but more of a celebration of Big Bad Wolf, which I am fine with. All is well now, I really hope no one else decides to protest this. It is at the end of its service life, so celebrating the memories and getting in some last rides is what everyone should do.

I don't think it is a good idea for anyone to protest the removal of Big Bad Wolf, it is old, and will cost a whole lot of cash to refurbish. On top of that, many steel coasters from that era (70s and 80s) will be gone soon as well for the same reason. Rather than wasting time protesting the inevitable, just ride Wolf as many times as you can before it is gone. I also have a problem with the "Behind the Thrills" people, who are protesting IN PARK about the removal of Big Bad Wolf. Think about it, they are paying the same company they are protesting to enter the park!

Oh! I thought you were staying near Kings Dominion, I was saying Six Flags and Busch Gardens were the same distance away from Kings Dominion, just opposite directions. If you are staying near Williamsburg, then I would go to Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion. Good Luck, and have a fun trip. -

Sure, glad I could help. Busch Gardens is about the same distance from Kings Dominion as Six Flags America. If I were you, I would hit up Six Flags America and Kings Dominion, but if you can't, I am sure you will have a fine time a Busch Gardens, be sure to get a last ride on Big Bad Wolf before it is gone forever. -
What Do You Think Of Morgan

They are sort of the cheap B&M, though I do like their rides. -
True words of wisdom Robb, Big Bad Wolf may be one of the first, but I see many more coasters to go very soon. Coasters like Superdooperlooper and Corkscrew just don't have much service life left. Tragic, but in 10 years it will be hard to find many 70s and even 80s steel coasters around, they will be an endangered species of coasters.

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Ha ha, and sneaky Carowinds thought they could keep the name under wraps. I bet Dick Kinzel must be very mad right now. -

Personally, I would go to Kings Dominion longer, if you like more thrill rides, or go to Busch Gardens longer if you like shows. To sum it up, if you are an adrenaline junky, go to Kings Dominion longer, if you are in favor of family rides and shows go to Busch Gardens longer. I would also recommend Six Flags America in Largo, Maryland (very close to Washington DC) for plenty of good rides. -
I don't think so. World of Color 2010, what ever SFMM is adding in 2010 and 2011, Transformers: The Ride in 2011, Little Mermaid 2011, Star Tours 2 2011, Cars Land 2012, and the completion of DCA makeover 2012. With that kind of competition, I don't think Knotts is going to add more kiddie rides. I have not been to Knotts in a very long time (I live in Virginia), so if that is what you think, I will take your word. If that is the case, I say they need something from B&M to really make their coaster fleet world class.
