  1. Where'd you hear that? The property is in the middle of changing ownership as well as the pandemic shitshow. I doubt they're adding anything new until late 2021 at the earliest.
  2. ^ Turnstiles keep count of things. That's the only reason they exist.
  3. Yeah I mean geeze whats up with Universal not releasing that POV of the Velocicoaster already?
  4. ^ Maybe it's a Vegas thing. People in this town fawn over Smashburger and In & Out almost exclusively when they're talking about grabbing lunch.
  5. ^ I know it's an old gag by now, but I'm loving the statues getting facemasks everywhere. I haven't thought to check in on our Statue Of Liberty here in Vegas, though.
  6. IMO Smashburger has always been extremely overrated, kinda like In & Out. No matter how you make it seem like your fast food burger is different and better than the others, it's still just a fast food burger. Some are just more expensive than others. I'm not saying a McDonald's burger is the same as Smash or In & Out, I'm just saying they're sub-par. Habit Burger falls into the same category, so don't get your hopes up. Perhaps it's due to them focusing more resources on getting their backlot and soundstages open again for movies rather than getting theme park guests in. Remember that those sets and soundstages are rented out by every player in the industry. They're not solely used for Universal films. If Hollywood has approval to start filming again I'm sure they're focusing on making themselves available.
  7. I don't think it's unfair to remove guests from the park who aren't wearing their masks or are improperly wearing their masks. This isn't rocket science. Cover the nose and mouth, super simple. If you willingly remove it or pull it down to your chin or to uncover your nose, that's a one-way ticket to the exit. Wanna really set an example? Passholders get it revoked. This couldn't possibly be a more minor thing to ask of guests and the majority of this country is too goddamn proud to just be courteous. Unless there are strict rules that are enforced this will keep happening. FFS, this is a public safety initiative; it's not like we're demanding hazmat suits.
  8. ^ Exactly. It's half-baked which is very odd for official news out of Disney.
  9. I'm surprised how little information was included in this press release considering Shanghai has been reopened with the new systems for a bit now. I know it won't be exactly the same but it sure as hell will be close. I'm curious what capacity they'll be reopening with and if the lack of shows, parades, and fireworks will mean a limited-time ticket price decrease. Hahahahahaha who the hell am I kidding? If anything it's gonna jump an extra $30 per day.
  10. Honestly I am shocked by this news. Comcast never misses an opportunity to nickel and dime their audience.
  11. Looks like it's an upgrade to LED lighting. That bad boy is gonna be bright!
  12. I mean with that argument neither does Song Of The South. Frontierland is themed to be the wild west. Song Of The South is, you know...the south. I'm sure it's an easy transition as all they'd have to worry about it changing out the animatronics or even just the outward appearance of most of the animatronics. I sure do hope we get a million-dollar Frog to replace the million-dollar Brer Rabbit, though.
  13. RMC and Alan Schilke really changed the landscape in coaster design, man. Everyone's beginning to adopt these outer-banked turns, stalls, etc. Embrace the twisty!!!
  14. Not gonna lie, I had forgotten the park even had a rapids ride. I'm really digging the look of Wickieland, especially the entrance through the Disk-O. One day I hope this park adds another world-class coaster, though. GeForce is so out of place compared to the rest of the park, haha.
  15. There are a bunch that are actually doing virtual escape rooms now. Some are an in-browser recreation, some have an actor livestreaming from the location and your group directs him on what to do. I think the one with the actor is genius! Next-level video gaming! Think about it. Between this and the rise of VR we could be looking at the groundwork for the world of Gamer.
  16. They don't need it, though. They pump people through their attractions like they're on an assembly line. The only rides I've seen with long-ish waits are the coasters and even with a long line they usually only take about 30 minutes.
  17. I'm curious to see how California handles reopening large public spaces. Florida just saw a huge surge in cases in the past four days, right on schedule (post-Memorial Day beach crowds). Unfortunately the protests are taking over the news cycle and Covid is hardly mentioned anymore. Between the haircut protesters and the racism protesters (keep your views to yourselves, this isn't the place) we're going to see a swell nearing the end of June that will lead to a larger wave that we'll need to flatten again. It looks like California is playing it extra safe and waiting to see how the red states fare.
  18. ^ Yep, the live entertainment industry is in the same boat. 15+ years being a stage pro, now I'm looking at Orkin and plumbing jobs.
  19. I'm curious about JK's thoughts on sightlines with this coaster and Hogsmeade. Seriously, though, it looks wild. Kinda like Maverick and Taron had a baby that grew up big.
  20. ^ Imagine what Carnival Cruise Lines can do with that kind of reliability!
  21. Leave it to Mount Olympus to have their loose article bins literally just nuts & bolts bins from their mechanic shop's toolshed.
  22. You'll still shimmy shimmy shimmy til the break o' dawn, you'll just be less concussed in the end.
  23. Sally's Blasting Bronco. Premier Sky Rocket. Gale Force. Mack PowerSplash (with some new landscaping, of course). There are a litany of rides I'd rather have in that space.
  24. Looks like El Paso Special at Bobbejaanland is now alone in the "most racist theme park ride" category.
  25. This is legit awesome technology. I can't wait to see it or something similar picked up across the board. Here in Vegas we've been known to have lines literally wrapped around and through casinos to get into venues and have had to delay start times because it's taking so long to screen people.
