The club looks great and the benefits are awesome! One correction is that the club lists Carowinds as being located in Columbia, SC. The Carowinds website has them listed as Charlotte, NC. -
Flash Pass @ Six Flags Great Adventure
nitrofan replied to iplf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went on a tuesday in july and found out the night before that there was a major concert the day I planned on going. I prepared myself to cough up the $120 for a 2 person flash pass, but I really lucked out with the weather. It was rainy and cloudy all day, but most rides never got lines. Superman and Batman were both running 1 train and their lines were to the end of their queues most of the day (no switchbacks used) but everything else (Bizarro, Nitro, and El Toro included) never got lines out of their station. I got very lucky, but I have heard that the park is normally mobbed. -
Stratosphere's New 'Ride'

I wouldn't pay the $100 to do this, but I know some people who might pay the ticket price and pay me more money on top of that to see me do this. -
Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Skull Mountain just seems to have way too many things that could go wrong. From the remaining turntable, to the boosters pushing the cars over one of the hills. The ride was down on and off all day in my visit in July of 2009. It seems like the ride has always been like that. It's too bad, because it's a cool ride when it is working, and I would like to see versions of this around the chain, but Six Flags isn't into high-maintnance rides. -

I was at Astroworld on its last day ever being open. We didn't know it was its last day, so I guess we were lucky to be able to cram in a few hours there that season in the middle of our drive back to San Antonio. We were standing in Ultra Twister's queue and decided that it was getting late and we should head home instead of riding, assuming that we could come back the next season to ride it. I know a lot of people say it was a bad ride, but I wish I would have at least gotten the chance to make my opinion for myself and ride such a unique ride. I guess it's not very likely now... -
They kind of bummed me out when they said thatthe Texas Giant makeover will headline the 50th Anniversary Event. I hope he meant it would headline the event at SFOT and not for the whole chain. That would be a real bummer if a Texas Giant makeover was the best thing any park in the chain got for the 50th Anniversary.

I was at this park this past summer, and I really don't see what all the complaining is about. I found it to be a fairly nice park with some of the better theming in the chain; mainly on Main Street, Coyote Creek, and Skull Island. Operations probably get a B+ in my book. Superman had 1 train all day, which I was ok with at first because they had 6 people over there working on it on the transfer track, but it was just sitting there in the afternoon. I have no problem with lowered operations if you can tell that they are trying to fix the problem, but trains just sitting there is where I get mad. The wait was to the switchbacks in the afternoon, which probably meant a 45-60 minute wait, so they could have benifited from the 2nd train. Batwing had 1 train all day and I didn't even see a 2nd train on the transfer track. It really makes you wonder why they invested in dual loading stations. That wait was just ridiculous. We got on it early in the morning, but the wait in the afternoon was through a switchback with about 10 minute dispatch times. Other than that, rides were running at maximum capacity with awesome operators. Staff seemed pretty friendly and they were making an effort to make sure everyone was having a good time. The one exception was the employee in the restroom appearantly found a mess in the stall and screamed "they can't pay me enough to clean this s*** up" right in front of my dad and 9 year-old brother. As you can imagine, that didn't sit well with my dad. Overall, I found this to be a gem in the Six Flags chain. With a little love from corporate for park maintnance and keeping rides running at full capacity and Chang, this park could be at the top of the list for Six Flags parks. -
I didn't say the park was closed during those days. We went one day and went to the ticket booth and asked for tickets. The guy's response was "why". He said that the park was open, but the power was out, and that Time Machine was struck by lightning earlier in the day and would not re-open that day. The second time we parked in the parking lot, and there was tons of lightning and it was downpouring. The radar didn't look good, so we just went home. I never said they weather was bad because they had to close, I just said it was bad for attendance.

Entertaining, funny ride ops.

There was this awesome guy who was running Joker's Jinx at SFA. He kept saying random quotes from Batman: The Dark Knight and dispatching it ta split second after he finished. He also had various ways of counting down to scare riders. For example, one way was: Joker's Jinx will launch in 5...4..3 (launch)...2...1...LAUNCH! And the best part was that he would launch at 3, but keep counting down like nothing ever happened. It was funny to see the reaction of guests in the station. He was actually smart and did something different every time so people wouldn't catch on. He was awesome! -
THORPE PARK's New Queueing System

What is SFGAm's system? -
^Ok, I'm glad I asked before I went and switched all the rides to continuous circuit mode. That explains all the nightmarishly long queues. lol And please do more parks! I'd like to see your hand at recreating a real Six Flags park. Either SFFT, SFOT, or SFNE are the ones I'd like to see. I don't know if you noticed this, but guests keep getting stuck 1 or 2 tiles in from the entrance and they can't exit the park. While I think this is an awesome park, great coasters, really good scenery, I think you really missed the boat when you did the park's layout as it is not peep friendly at all. With your long curving path ending with a dead end at a coaster, peeps are never going to get that far. I plan on adding more to the island and making a bridge go under Superman: Ride of Steel to make the park a full circle. I'll post screenshots if I do it, but I'm not sure if I want to do all that if I can't even get the guests to enter and exit the park.

Ok, I finally was able to open it that time! That park is AWESOME! You did a great job of putting IOA and Six Flags styles, which are completely different, in 1 park. I just have 1 question. I was going to add more trains to each ride and saw that you had all the coasters on Boat Hire mode. What is Boat Hire Mode, and why do you have all the coasters on that mode? Anyway, thanks for being patient with my computer issues.

THORPE PARK's New Queueing System

Why is this supposed to be better than just writing the number of minutes the line is? I don't get the logic behind that at all. -
