  1. I would rather go to a brand new park than one I've already visited, even if I love the other park.
  2. Age: 19 Middle Name: Maria Pet Peeve: <--The use of that term. I have countless "major annoyances". One of them is spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure errors. Not obscure ones, but obvious ones. Color of your bathroom: Off-white Best Movie of ALL time: Not something I have watched. Best Song of ALL time: No idea, but my most played song on Last.fm is still "Millstone Co." by Crashdog, by far. I haven't listened to it in months. Best TV Shows: I don't watch any enough that I could say it's the best and really mean it. (How's that for an obscure sentence structure mistake? Something is wrong with that sentence, but I have no idea what.) Favorite Band/Artist: Right now, Coheed & Cambria. I'm actually kind of creepily obsessed. My top artist on Last.fm is still Sublime, though. <3 Favorite Ride at Disney Parks: Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (DCA). At Disneyland my favorites are it's a small world and Space Mountain. Yummiest Ice Cream: Chocolate chip cookie dough...especially with really good cookie dough. Mint chocolate chip. Several non-plain varieties of chocolate. Coffee. If you could eat lunch with one person, who would it be: Uh...someone with extremely good taste in restaurants? Morning Person or Night Person: Day person. Pets: Jack Russell Terrier Favorite Color: Blue-green (whether teal, aqua, turquoise, or something else). I also like the other cool colors (blue, green, purple). Where you would go for fun (not an amusement park): A theme park!!! That doesn't count either? All right then...generic "traveling" in the U.S. Or plain old shopping. Coke or Pepsi: Either or neither. But usually neither. They're supposed to be extremely similar, right? Even if they're actually different in practice. Opinion about Peanut Butter and Jelly: Peanut butter is too dry and boring for me nowadays. Jelly is good if it's...grape; I've forgotten the other flavors I like. No strawberry bits though! Best Vacation Spot: California, or someplace with good coasters. Cook or Go Out: Acquire fast food, or make a quick-n-dirty meal. I almost never cook. Beach, Desert, or Mountains: I don't know that I've ever been to a desert, but I'm intrigued by the idea. As long as it's not too hot. I like the shore, though.
  3. Roar is at least 10 times better, and Grizzly is my least favorite wooden coaster by far, but you know what surprised me? There are 2 or 3 moments of very mild air in the back seat...maybe not even true airtime, but close to it. I was expecting there to be nothing whatsoever, so I was pleasantly surprised. It's still completely forgettable though.
  4. ^Nice! Medusa is very photogenic. Here's mine. This is the original photo, roughly. I totally love it. I must admit it's not "mine". I put a lot of icons there because I don't really ever look at the screen like that. I always have several programs open.
  5. I like the jokes you hear about it at parks. The coaster scene really gets me psyched up and wanting to go ride a coaster! ^Edit: I read your post and just noticed you work at a park. I guess it's only funny when you only hear it every once in a while!
  6. Edit: Making fun of Medusa was dumb seeing as how it's one of my top steel coasters and I totally love it. Maybe I'll think of a truly overhyped one and post again later.
  7. Yeah, people definitely still ride it! I wonder if it's the whole fear of inversions thing. I know when I was still scared of coasters, I'd always go to the wooden coaster first when visiting a park. However, that is the one adult-sized coaster I've ridden that I would advocate getting rid of and replacing. It just doesn't do what a wooden coaster should. Imagine the possibilities.
  8. Yup, there's not a bad one in the bunch! Which makes me feel better about not entering--I'd be out of my element.
  9. ^^The ops almost never even checked me at Fun Forest. However, I always set my bar very close to me, because I didn't want to, like, actually die. "Dive of Death" isn't supposed to mean anything literal! I didn't want to take any chances at that park and risk ruining their clean, bright, meticulously maintained atmosphere. You're right, though, those Windstorm lap bars are very nice and simple.
  10. ^About Diskos: Same opinion, opposite problem. I feel like my lungs are getting pressed in and I think it might actually be a bit harder to breathe. (I don't care for Diskos, so maybe I'll just avoid them in the future.) Rock-O-Planes seem to be an automatic stapler. The restraint is just a metal bar that the op fits into a slot in the door...whichever slot is the tightest against you. But the excitement of the ride serves as a great distraction!
  11. Favorite: Single position lap bars/buzz bars. They really make a difference! I especially like it when there's no seatbelt. Example: Giant Dipper at SCBB. Now I need to get on some Coaster Classics! (I'm guessing the Giant Dipper failed the Classic requirements because although there are no headrests or seatbelts, there is a seat divider. Is that the reason?) Least favorite: OTSRs on traditional sit-down cars, especially on Arrow coasters. I have a strong preference and habit of putting my hands straight up on every ride, and I've found on Arrows it's either painful (my arm gets caught between the restraint and the side of the car) or entirely impossible.
  12. Aww...Great pics. Odin was in my local paper the other day...I was proud. Those tigers are so playful! I was amazed when I saw them. I didn't know tigers did anything other than lounge around.
  13. Here's one that made me laugh pretty hard. "We went right by Silverwood...there's an old wooden roller coaster there. Does it work? There's a fancy new one right next to it, so we thought maybe the old one doesn't work anymore." Clearly it's a little known fact that wood is not in the least bit outdated. It's also funny because Aftershock is supposed to be the one that doesn't work, seeing as how it's a Deja Vu. (I think it's been doing fine in its new home, though.)
  14. Cool gimmick indeed...albeit creepy-cool if you're a little kid. Yeah, I used to be scared of the radio, and it gave me nightmares. :/
  15. What a find! Immediately reminded me of Thrill-Ville. Right down to the pod-less Rock-O-Plane. (I've missed out on two local Rock-O-Planes now? What? Plus I think the Thrill-Ville one is the one that used to be rented out to the Puyallup Fair...) Makes me wonder if Thrill-Ville is accessible for exploring. I think I've seen a post-closure trip report somewhere out there. So was this place open, or closed? I can guess...but it would be really funny if it were open! <--Edit: Never mind, I saw a couple clues that it's open...WOW.
  16. They take a little extra strength in comparison to car seatbelts. Basically, if at first you don't succeed, pull harder.
  17. Does anybody care what I think about the iPod touch? Well, either way, you get to know. I have the 16gb, first generation version. I haven't used it in probably 8 months and I'm going to sell it soon. It's nice, but I'd rather get an iPhone for my next phone so I can have everything (Internet, music, phone, camera, apps) on one device, instead of carrying around two devices, which only comprise phone, music and camera. Advantages: I could fit the majority of my "favorite" music, which was basically me narrowing down my oversized library to, well, my favorites. Although I like having all my music on my 160gb iPod classic, it was also nice to have a "focused" iPod that didn't have all that extra music I "shouldn't" have bought. Games were fun, apps were nice but really just "extras", not life-altering. Internet was a bit cumbersome, but nice to have, although I was strangely prevented from accessing or logging into certain sites. Also, I couldn't get a connection at the most convenient place, school. (I could get it on my laptop, for comparison.) I highly recommend jailbreaking (at least way back when--I'm not sure how it is now), just for the apps. I spent 2-3 hours trying it unsuccessfully, then did the exact same thing again and it worked, thank goodness. I never bought the $20 upgrade. I was on the borderline of buying it but I wanted to keep the jailbreak intact, or something. Personal moral: An iPod for music only is enough for me, but an iPhone would be nice in the future. The end.
  18. My first coaster was Ice Mountain Bobsled at Enchanted Forest. It's kind of a weird story to me. Let's see. I have no idea how old I was, but certainly between the ages of 8 and 12. It wasn't my idea. I'm 99% sure I had no idea it was a roller coaster. I have no idea if I was already afraid of roller coasters back then, or if it just had never occurred to me that I would ever have a reason to ride one. I have next to zero recollection of the ride experience...I mostly remember the car, the initial tight tunnel, and maybe the station. So either it was so traumatizing that I repressed the memory (extremely unlikely, but possible since it feels fast and has rough airtime!), or it was so boring I just forgot immediately! (And I usually remember things in great detail. Weird.) This was my only coaster ride before the age of 18. I still love that coaster, and not just nostalgically. Edit: I want to do the little survey! First Looping Coaster (Continuous Circuit): California Screamin' First Kiddie Coaster: "Real": Gadget's Go Coaster at DLR. At all: Dragon Wagon, with Tiger Express being the second. First Looping Coaster (Non-Continuous Circuit): I take it V2 doesn't count, so Aftershock. First Wooden Coaster: Roar at SFDK. "We'll ride that one first because it doesn't go upside-down." Tallest Roller Coaster: Aftershock (depressing!)
  19. 12,267 (I have more music than that, though) They're all on my 160gb iPod classic. It's lame. I wish I'd been more focused in my music collecting, instead of spending so much time and money buying whatever was cheap.
  20. I like Wild Thing at Wild Waves. It features two of my favorite colors, teal/turquoise and lime, and I think they go together nicely. Yes, my answer is definitely solely based on the color scheme. It's a very simple, mediocre coaster (perfect for families). It's quite smooth, though (I heard it was one of the roughest coasters ever and was pleasantly surprised to find it's not really rough at all). Medusa West is also beautiful and photogenic, with the green and purple coordinating well. Now for one I've only seen in pictures: Sky Princess at Dutch Wonderland. The blue and purple is very pretty! I don't think I've seen any other wooden coaster that wasn't white or "natural".
  21. I've only been on one, but I can assure you it's a good one. Medusa at SFDK. It feels a lot "tamer" to me now, but it's decidedly fun. I used to think the vertical loop was massive!
  22. I just found out what cornball means!
  23. I don't really like the concept of "underrated", because it seems that most people/things that get labeled underrated are actually highly respected by many people. I guess it's just a perspective thing. Also, some of the coasters I consider underrated are coasters that even I don't rate highly but that I do like much better than most other people seem to. So it seems they aren't worth mentioning, because even if someone likes them as much as I do, they won't be like "That was amazing!" Example: Looping Thunder. It's just a Pinfari, but other people seem to hate it, whereas I like it (although I don't think it's great). Timber Terror: Not because people think it's bad, but because people think Tremors is (much, to some people) better. I like Timber Terror better because I'm all about the airtime. I need to ride both of them more, though. GIBs: Maybe some people don't like GIBs because they are, after all, Boomerangs, or maybe it's only because of the infamous breakdowns and not because of the ride itself. Aftershock is my favorite coaster! (I adore 90 degree drops, so maybe my rating of Aftershock will go down once I experience other vertical drop coasters that aren't quite so simplistic and formulaic.)
  24. Tipsy by J-Kwon Totally reminds me of the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD! grr, I like the remixes better, but I don't have the files anymore.
