  1. Didn't hear about it on the show but I did see in the Sandusky Register that it was ranked #1 again in the National Amusement Park Historical Association's favorite coaster poll. It also went on to say that Magnum was ranked third in the poll and that at Coastermaina Rob Toomer (he designed Magnum) from Arrow Dynamics will be a keynote speaker.
  2. My point of asking Tom (The Toader) was maybe Cedar Fair felt that the attendance numbers weren't up to where they were adding major investments to the park and not seeing any change in attendance numbers. On a side note I'm still kinda of surprised that Cedar Fair would get rid of Valleyfair as that is one of their original parks, plus Kinzel was a General Manager there too (if I'm not mistaken) before becoming President and CEO. Tom
  3. Son of Beast is THE roughest coaster I've been on...... And yes I've been on Ghostrider..... I usually can only stand to ride it once and then that's it for me.
  4. ^ The Toader, how many people visit Valleyfair a year? I've never been there and I'm just curious. Tom
  5. Just went there...... I don't see any pictures.
  6. Millennium Force normally runs all 3 trains and as stated above, it is rare when they don't. However back when the ride first opened and there wasn't the seat belt issues, the trains were never stacked. In fact the other day when I rode it they weren't stacking them either (which caught my attention considering that has been the norm since the shortened belts) so I'm curious maybe the crew is better this year, or I just came at a good time. Tom
  7. ^ I don't know if it's just me but when I rode Millennium earlier this year the line seemed to move pretty quick..... like quicker than normal. I'll reserve my judgement till I ride it more later but anyone else notice this?
  8. I was at that National park back in 2002 and a lot of the trees were being attacked by some disease and were dying. Looks like they stopped the spread and removed the trees cause some of your pictures were in the same spots I took back then and it looks much more green. Good to see.
  9. I had faith. My Fiance's step-dad is a Cedar Point maintenance worker, although Millennium Force is not his zone. They know what they're doing over there despite what some people think.
  10. 15/20 thanks to remembering most of these old Parks from a book I read.
  11. According to Cedar Point's Blog, Millennium Force is back back open and running today. I'll ignore some of the posts above
  12. Oh by the way forgot to mention the "random pirate theming" on Millennium Island is stuff left over from Halloweekends. Last year they had a pirate themed haunted walkway around the island. Tom
  13. Being a local I see in the Register periodically of people suing Cedar Point. It happenes constantly! They have to have these rediculous saftey procedures and signs for legal reasons. Also I gotta give a shout out to Tofts as well it is a great place! Finally I never have any issues on Maverick as far as head banging, etc. In fact the only ride at CP that's ever gave me a headache or any kind of pain is Corkscrew lol. Always enjoy reading trip reports from people not from around the park and I enjoyed yours. Thanks. Tom
  14. Yeah that looks pretty cool. I went and got my Platinum Pass processed today and they had the new Causeway sign on. It looks pretty sweet! A Magnum POV was happening when I was driving by.
  15. Just an FYI I have been back there twice to find the lot full..... granted it was on a busy day but still. If you're getting there early this won't be an issue for you though.
  16. It's been many years since we did this (back when I used to live in Michigan) but I believe you show one of the entrance people your room key and they let you in. I'm sure when you book they'll let you know what you need to do or ask when you check in.
  17. Technically yes. There's one main parking lot back there by Gemini. But then there's another parking lot for Hotel Breakers. Not sure if there's parking lots for Sandcastle and Lighthouse Point though. Yes Sandcastle suites has a parking lot that you can park in, although I don't know why you'd want to cause it's a heck of a walk from the back entrance. However if you park back there, there's the restaurant Breakwater Cafe back there. And there's also a nice pathway back there where you can walk along the beach and Magnum. Also there's the Soak City Lot.....
  18. I miss the real Beast too.... New one is neutered with all those extremely intrusive magnetic trims
  19. See this is something like Ford vs. Chevy. You'll always have the Mustang fan boys say their car is better, and likewise with the chevy guys with the Camaro. Me personally I love the atmosphere that Cedar Point has being on the water like it is, I like the fact that I can drive my boat over to Cedar Point, anchor it on the beach, and swim in front of Magnum. I will always consider KK a copy of TTD because, well it is (aside from the hill). As a car guy I very much like the drag racing theming that Dragster has over the Jungle theming at Kingda Ka. I also like that there's just a lap bar. On the other hand can Northern Ohio compete with New York City..... NO! lol Personally if it were me I'd just look at what park haven't I been to recently or which one do I not go to often enough and choose that one this time.
  20. That does look like a really good ride. I like the pace it keeps throughout. Tom
  21. Yeah I wouldn't agree with that opinion of Nothern Ohio having nothing to do. That's a lot to do around here you just gotta know where to look. Now if it's the middle of winter then yeah I would tend to agree with you there's not a whole lot to do but there are still things. As for Kellys Island not having a night life, I disagree with that cause I enjoyed bar hoping with my friends there when we went on the Goodtime Cruise (Booze Cruise) last summer. Tom
  22. I never tell them that I'm parking in the back, I just do it. I always park in the Gemini lot. I know he asked this at the beginning of the thread but I have a suggestion for a fun activity...... Go on the Goodtime Cruise. It leaves out of the main pier in Sandusky by the Chesapeak Lofts and it is a great time. It takes you to Kellys Island which is a great place to bar hop..... if that's your sort of thing. And the boat has a DJ and top level is basically a dance floor. If that's not you're idea of a good time there's the Cedar Downs bowling alley at the corner of Cleveland Road and Cedar Point Road, they have bowling and laser tag. On 250 (Milan Road) there's the mini-golf and Go-Carts just south of Strub Road. I can think of more stuff but I'm ranting. If you have any other questions just ask. Tom
  23. So based on your description of your Beast ride, are you saying they have let the trims go a bit and not letting them brake the trains as hard? My biggest complaint on the Beast now are those new magnetic trim brakes. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
  24. Here's some of mine Sorry couldn't resist, my next car.... 2010 Camaro SS taken at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) Kings Islands Eiffle Tower Son of Beast without the loop...... taken summer of 2008 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival My fiance Alicia and I @ Epcot during the 2008 Flower & Garden Festival Inside Test Track in the GM VIP Lounge..... One of the perks that my job gets me! Shiekra splshing Magic Kingdom at closing Cinderella's Castle @ WDW Finale to the Lights Motor Action Stunt Show at Disney's Hollywood Studios Tower of Terror at dusk
