SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I kid, I kid. Actually some PETA organizers have developed their own plans. Clicky After doing some snooping, it turns out that they're trying to organize a boycott against Sea World to raise awareness of the plight of the animals in captivity (as if they don't do this already) and using the Occupy tagline to grab attention (as usual) to their cause. -
You know that feeling that you get when you open up an envelope and $30 pops out? I do!

^ - Hit all the rides early. Do rerides/see shows later (you may want to opt for the fastpass if it gets too busy or if you wanna get water rides in) - Water rides get very long lines. - Oktoberfest is gonna be crowded because of Mach Tower and Verbolten. Make those a priority if you can. - Loch Ness Monster is a great warmup to the bigger rides. - Griffon in front (or back), Alpengeist in front, Apollo in back, and Loch Ness Monster in the middle (a bit toward the back) - Best spots to view fireworks (Mach Tower, Apollo's Chariot, Waveswinger , parking lot, area around Festhaus, Italy bridge, Griffon area). - Discounts can be found in local supermarkets (Farm Fresh has coupons and bags with discounts on the back) as well as fast food joints surrounding the park. I believe there are also discounts on admission if you bring marked soda cans).

Possible New Park in the Dallas Area
netdvn replied to AllenA07's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looking at NFM stores on Google, they look pretty impressive. I won't hold my breath for a Nickelodeon Universe style park (yet), especially with SFOT being in the same area. It looks more along the lines of Uncle Bernie's with a few small children's/family rides in the middle of a huge shopping area at this point. Looks like a ton of potential for another nice park for Texas though. -
Looking at a satellite image, it looks like there's plenty of room for a decent-sized coaster, a new-gen Intamin shoot the chutes (or toss a splash battle in there) around the Log Jammer/Flashback spot. Stick a Windseeker/Star Flyer tower around Deja Vu's former spot. Two nice family rides and a coaster for the price of one old water ride.

Triple launch coaster? 300 foot tall spinning coaster? Those actually sound pretty interesting. I had no idea someone was selling off an Arrow shuttle. I wonder which one?

Does it have anything to do with counting a single roller coaster as multiple credits? -

Does the location have to do with Bags O Crap (as in located in any of the BOC discussion threads)? EDIT: Motts is awesome. Although you can't go wrong with apple cider. -

Congratulations to the winner. Any chance we might get a second contest tonight? I would love a guess the coaster tonight I'm all for an extra special guess that *whatever amusement ride/attraction/park comes to mind* contest for an extra special BOC. -

SF has invested in splash battles before and they seem to be fairly popular with parks (although their popularity seems to have dropped off in recent years). I can see a starflyer coming to the park in the future as well. Both would make great additions to the park and expand on the park's family ride offerings. If they really wanted to go far, a new gen Intamin shoot the chutes would be perfect. The park has been investing in a few family attractions in recent years (Terminator, Road Runner Express, whatever Thomas Town got turned into this year). A starflyer/splash battle would be a perfect round up to all their recent family additions and expand on their flat ride collection.

Stingray looks wicked but I'd stay away from that beachfront amusement park (well stay off the rides at least - I'd totally take pictures of the place). Such a shame about World Joyland. The flyer and the theming look nice(video game theming especially), but the paint spattered all over the place, (what looks like) unfinished construction areas that were just left to sit there, and the terrible service seems like a major turnoff. I will say that Shanghai looks amazing though. Definitely a city I'd love to visit just to experience it.

I am! I played up to Black/White but skipped the remakes. I may play through them when I have the time. The B/W generation is actually my personal fave (been playing since the originals).

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think roughly 78% of your posts mention that you want a B&M invert at KD. I really, really hope you aren't holding your breath. Nope, it's 50% complaining about how SFA is "neglected" 30% complaining about how KD "needs" a B&M invert when they clearly have a good one already 20% everything else -
^ I'm surprised that DarKastle isn't on the list of operating attractions considering it's an indoor ride that connects with the cold/ice theme that comes with Christmas. According to last year's map, it was operating during that time. Just got my tickets to CT! Can't wait to check it out for the first time.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah but what? A flyer dropping through the tunnel probably wouldn't work as B&M's track is bigger & the tunnel was designed to accomodate Arrow track, thaat & the tunnel gimmick of the existing ride is 20 years old already so it's kinda lost it's novelty a long time ago. I was thinking a wingwalker running parallel to Rebel Yell and having a turnaround near Drop Zone. The return section would go back around, over the Hurricane Reef section of the water park and then finish around Anaconda's old station. The tunnel isn't really needed so take that out. That would mean KD would have to get rid of some of the older water slides (which I don't have a problem with). Using a satellite image, it seems they could fit something there. -
Don't worry, I liked BBW more than LNM too. I liked the first half of the ride. It wasn't very fast or intense compared to the second half, but you were traveling through the village. If you traveled any faster, you'd miss most of the theming. My first time riding, I got a pretty good kick out of that tiny first drop too. Unfortunately that went away after subsequent rides. The second half was awesome diving toward the water and the high speed portion in the forest. Pacing itself wasn't that bad. The first part was a little slow so that you could see the little details in the abandoned village. The second half was the high speed finale. The middle was the breather that let you take in the nice scenery from the river. Granted they could add a bit more to that area (maybe extend the village a bit) but I don't have an issue with the other lift.
