Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
brand4d2 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
There are ride lockers for Terminator, correct? Because when I go this Thursday, I'm heading directly there first and don't want to stop elsewhere to place my belongings. -
Logos On Front Of Coaster Trains...

Actually some, but not all, of the bobsled trains on Matterhorn at Disneyland have logos on the front. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

It would be ideal to take the O. Express but on at least one of my runs to X2 this year, I've noticed that O. Express hadn't opened up yet. By the way, I noticed a billboard for this ride on my way to work but it's in Spanish. I assume English versions are showing up everywhere as well? -
Wearing glasses on a coaster
brand4d2 replied to jbuck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
With a few exceptions, I almost always remove my glasses before riding. Even if they won't fall off, I would just spend the entire time of the ride being anxious about it and not enjoying it at all. The trade off is that I can't see that well but so be it. -

Being that they're such huge Six Flags fans on that site, I'm going to call my team "More Flags More Fun"! -

DLR and SFMM... Which to do on Sat or Mon?!
brand4d2 replied to RCTfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFMM doesn't open until 10:30 am no matter what day it is. On May 4, Disneyland's hours are 10-8. I've been there 6 times this year and every time it's been packed no matter if it's a Saturday, Monday, Tuesday or Friday. Normally, going on the 10-8 on the 4th would be a good idea but even without Spring Break crowds, the birthday celebrators and people using 2fer tickets have generated huge crowds. However, since it seems like SFMM is your greater priority, maybe you should go on the Monday. -
Are you a Screamer, Laugher or WHOOPer?

That describes me as well. However, I let a spontaneous whoop on my first ever ride on X2 as the first drop went into the raven turn. -

Viper at SFMM -
I stopped by the park today. No Terminator photos because the Sky Tower was closed plus Robb said he'd be out there on Sun. to get a photo update. Some items of interest - They're no longer offering that $10 X2 charge for regular Flash passes, only Gold. I felt like riding X2 today so I did the hour long wait rather than pay for a Gold. $19 for the regular with an Xtreme pass is something I can stomach. $40something for the Gold, I can't. For pass holders, check your receipts and make sure you get your discounts! I didn't get mine at Katy's Kettle today and I was so famished at that point (around 3 pm) that I didn't bother to get back in line to point it out to them. And then after purchasing a t-shirt from Flags, I noticed that the cashier had only given me a 15% discount only this time I went to a different line and pointed out that I should've been given 25%. I don't know if they were newer employees or perhaps they were overwhelmed today and since I go quite frequently, I can just gloss it over but for someone else who just became a pass holder, this kind of stuff does not reflect too well on park operations. -The Goliath ride loaders/restraint checkers were on their "A" game today! They were loading trains even faster than they do on Space Mountain and it was fun to see the two guys shuffle rapidly from car to car to push down lap bars. -They held a Guitar Hero contest today (along with a Battle of the Bands). Hopefully my 248,153 score on Obstacle 1 expert was good enough for some sort of prize!

Any SFMM flash pass reviews yet?
brand4d2 replied to TriboElectric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I tried out the regular Flash pass along with the X2 $10 per ride a few weeks back. If you're an Xtreme pass holder, $19 isn't really that bad per person. If you really, really, really wanted to ride X2 and you weren't able to be there at opening, then you may want to think about paying the $10. The appointments are once per hour and you set it ahead of time in the Flash Pass office. Note that the Flash pass doesn't grant you immediate boarding. It does allow you to walk up all to the way to the split off point between the left and right stations but in all likelihood, you'll have to wait as much as 25-30 minutes from that point. As it was a crowded Saturday when I did my little experiment, I took in more rides than I would have without the FP, obviously, and for some rides, I was granted immediate boarding - Superman, Log Jammer, Gold Rusher to name a few. Overall I would definitely recommend it if you're there on a very crowded day. I'm curious to know how much better the Gold Flash Passes are because with my regular, I would set my reservations for the next ride as soon as the ride ops would scan my Q-bot for the ride I was currently waiting from. In many instances, I was not able to walk to the next ride by the reservation time. For instance, if I was on Riddler's Revenge and I set a reservation for Goliath, the window to ride came up before I could physically get to Goliath. So unless you can actually run like the Flash, I have a feeling that getting a Gold might be superfluous. One great feature of the Flash pass Q-bot is that if your reservation time does come up, it vibrates to remind you and for every interval of 5-10 minutes, it keeps doing that. -
As someone who has been known to do Tatsu marathons - 5 straight rides on one visit back in Jan. and 6 total rides this past Monday, I can vouch for both EBL's and Crazy4Coaster's points. I nearly blacked out once during the pretzel loop from the back row and it was sprinkling to boot. I'm not picky about which row I sit in so I tend to line up wherever is shortest and if it's the back or the one before the back, so be it. However, if I end up there, I usually close my eyes during the loop and also take 2 deep breaths as the train approaches it. Unfortunately, the trade off for being in either of the first 2 rows is that you just hang there while waiting for the rest of the train to clear the lift. I'm not a fan of that so those aren't ideal seats, at least in my opinion.

The X2 reservations are staggered throughout the day and at hourly intervals, I believe. The $10 is just for one ride, however, and if you wanted to go more than once, you'd have to pay another $10. In addition, you set your times in advance with the Flash Pass Center employees. I tried out the regular flash pass yesterday (albeit with the Xtreme passholder discount) with the X2 add on. I still ended up waiting 30 min. to get on X2 because traffic was backed up at the loading stations.

So if I can tolerate SoCal'ers (albeit barely at times) that means that I can tolerate just about anyone, right?
