  1. Most SLCs, All boomerangs, Cyclone @ SFNE, The Great Chase @ SFNE. Yes, TGC is a kiddie coaster. My beef is the last turn. Tip: Don't sit on the right. Oh, and it kicks you in the back when it starts. Other Death Machines I like: Yankee Cannonball Cyclone @ Astroland
  2. I'm going to go with X. The ride was billed as revolutionary, and I feel that spinning seats do not equal revolutionary. Other overrated rides: SROS@SFNE (barely) Hulk Stock Gerstlauer spinners (Pandemonium, Spinning Dragons, THBS, etc.) About SROS: It's overrated. That does NOT mean that it isn't a world-class ride. It just doesn't deserve the hype. I feel that it is the second-best steel in the world, after Kumba.
  3. From my recent SFNE trip: "What's a spinning coaster?" (standing in front of Pandemonium)
  4. Now, if I remember correctly, that was posted in the "rants" thread. It was a rant. Wes blew it out of proportion.
  5. Sorry to bring this up from the dead, but I was playing RCT3 and noticed something. What gives?
  6. My favorite obstacle was the Jump Hang. It was just a load of fun.
  7. SASUKE, known in America as Ninja Warrior, is a game show with one goal: beat all four stages of an obstacle course. This obstacle course regularly features such challenges as the "Warped Wall", which is a five-meter quarter-pipe that must be ascended. Most of the obstacles are over muddy water; if one touches the water, one is instantly disqualified. More information can be found at Wikipedia's page. Any fans out there? BTW, Wes, the reason I posted this topic again was because my first iteration was, indeed, vague. I hope this iteration will be less vague.
  8. I am a big fan of SASUKE (known in America as Ninja Warrior). Anyone else like the show? Recount your favorite moments and tournaments here!
  9. Year 1 A new amusement park has opened in my hometown of Idylwild. The ride selection is somewhat meager (one coaster and three flats) but the coaster is good. The owner of the park bought a vast chunk of land, including a mountain, a bit of desert, and an old factory. Apparently, he spent most of his capital on the land and the GCI woodie, and he didn't have much for flats. Anyway, I took some pictures of the park from my helicopter. (Technically, the copter is not mine; a good friend lent it to me for tax reasons.) Bobs is amazing. The boys at GCI really outdid themselves. It was a hot day in the park, and I noticed the lack of shade. Bobs' queue was covered, which was good. The queue moved fast, which was better. When I got into the station, I realized why the queue was so fast: the coaster sports four 12-car trains. Before I knew it, I was in the front seat of the green train. Ahead, the track dropped into darkness. The ride op said some cheesy spiel, and I noticed something else: the restraint-checkers stapled me. Fortunately, the restraints were designed to be stapled, and so my nuts were not crushed. The train dispatched, and the gentle drop into the tunnel was anything but. The pre-lift helix in the dark was intense, but became less so as it progressed. The train ascended the lift, and I saw to the left a big mess of track. Coming off the lift, a beautifully engineered twisting drop felt nice. I wondered why I had been stapled, as the first hill produced little air. The helix following was good, and the next hill produced some floater air, but not much. The train swooped over the lift at speed, and then a sudden drop made me silently thank the ops for stapling me. This drop was followed by an even more extreme double-down, which produced ridiculous ejector air. So did the hill that followed. The rest was a blur of double-downs, helices, headchoppers, and a very intense figure eight. Another interesting element of this ride: it kept going. After the figure-eight, there was a helix, a fan turn, and three or four more intense airtime hills. All in all, I'd say that this coaster was quite easily the best woodie I'd been on. I like the first two hills; they are deceptively airless. The Scrambler and other flats were kinda "meh." I do hope that the owner finds more capital; with all that land to use, we could be seeing some crazy coasters out there. An overview of Bobs. Another view of Bobs. I don't care much for the station, but it hides a pre-lift helix. Bobs, a GCI twister with lots of airtime. The flats: a carousel, a ferris wheel, and a Scrambler.
  10. I once had a dream where I was at IoA and the islands were spread out over a city, so you would have to take a bus to get to another island. DD's queue was a labyrinth, and just as I found my way to the coaster, I woke up.
  11. In RCT2, I am referring to what goes by a few names: -- Swoop track (Steve Franks) -- Banked hills -- steep helix You basically got it. I use it to create complex rising/falling helices. I use the steep twist on the first drops of my Waterwing coasters, on twist hills on Arrow/Morgan hypers, and on Schwarzkopf coasters.
  12. Essentially, I am going to try to chronicle the fate of a long-running amusement park. All the previous times I tried this several people, including one starting with "W" and ending with "es41190" made fun of me. WARNING: This project will include the following: -- Some coasters without custom supports -- Some unthemed rides -- Single-wide paths -- Ugly buildings These are due to the limitations of RCT2 and my limited skills. Neither will change any time soon.
  13. I never use helix pieces; for helices, I use the banked swoop-track. Also, I very rarely use steep twists; the last time I used one was on an Arrow hyper. Does anyone else do this type of thing (avoiding certain elements)?
  14. I did not realize that there was a rule against voting for oneself.
  15. Personally, I think that a 60* drop on a waterslide feels like 90*, especially when it holds at 60*.
  16. Since my home park is either SFNE or Canobie Lake (I live an equal distance between the two), I would have to say yes.
