Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
B-RadG replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So I was explaining the concept of road, guide, and upstop wheels to my friend. She said she always thought centripetal force kept coasters on the tracks, and I told her the 3 sets of wheels did. So then she said- "That happened at Kings Dominion it was one some ride and it didn't stop so it flew off the tracks" I told her she was wrong and nothing like that ever happened at KD, only a man pulling himself out of the restraints on Shockwave and dying. "No I'm not that's what my aunt told me, yeah it did it was called the Kobra" As I keep arguing that King Kobra never had any accidents and it still operated in Brazil "Yes it did! I heard about it from my aunt! It's so scary!!" Argh. I hate arguing and not winning. One of my big pet peeves -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
B-RadG replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I read somewhere (maybe it was on Carowinds Connection) that $11,000,000 is what Carowinds is paying directly for the hyper, whereas Cedar Fair pays for the rest of however much it is. -

Yet another reason I hate fairs

As long as I can remember (since I was 6.. that was 8 years ago) Big Bad Wolf has always shook, all of the track, if you stand back like you're going to Drachen Fire (where you get a clear view of the first half of the ride) you notice even when the train's not running over certain areas the track/supports shake around pretty roughly. Loch Ness Monster's shaking isn't that noticeable unless you're actually on the train. You can't see the track shake but you feel the other train coming up to the brakes and stopping if you're sitting because it vibrates. Also, I guess it's due to lack of supports in the station, but when people are boarding the train and tracks shake from side to side.

Apollo's Chariot does not use magnetic braking, too old Despite what those negative people that say it's going to be "just" a B&M Hyper.. I'm very excited for this, since I can't ride Diamondback because it's just a little far away, Carowinds is closer and I may actually have a chance to ride this behemoth (no pun intended) -
Walygator Parc Discussion Thread
B-RadG replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That's because on B&Ms the spine moves down to make room for the brakes/drive wheels, a standard B&M brake doesn't fit in the area on a normal track. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/573imgp9152_157.jpg If you look up to the MCBR you'll see how the spine moves up and the rails and ties stay the same height to accommodate the brakes. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/img_0033_192.jpg Then if you look at the brake run behind the station you'll see the same. -

^If you notice a lot of B&M coasters have a dark shade on the top/bottom (depending on whether it's sit down/inverted) and ties, and a lighter shade on the top. In Orochi's case it's white and pink on top. -
I don't mind it as long as they're not just screaming to be screaming and annoying. Like my friend who used to hate (until I took her to Busch Gardens) coasters was screaming genuinely, so it didn't bother me, because she wasn't trying to be an annoying teenaged girl and scream to see how many people she could annoy. Now I know this may annoy some of you, but when I'm with a group of friends we'll do the cheering and hollering on the lift, and throughout the ride, but not ear-piercing shrieking, other than that I'm quiet on a coaster unless I'm talking to someone.

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
B-RadG replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Worst- Storm Runner, 2 quick headbanging jerks into the brakes. Best- Alpengeist, I love the 2 helixes that glide into the brakes. -
^Judging by how few park guests know it's closing, I'd expect there to be plenty left.. if not check eBay? Yesterday as my friend and I got off 2 ladies asked if it was any good, we told them it was closing soon and it was lots of fun and one said "Oh whatever I bet it's not that good I wanna go ride the yellow one with 18 loops"

I say Outer Limits. Cause of Outer Limits: Flight of Fear.. then changed to Flight of Fear... so Kings Dominion would still have Outer Limits and Flight of Fear -
The Restraint Discussion Thread
B-RadG replied to MASH80554077's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My 2 favorites are the classic Arrow restraints and B&M's OTSRs. Arrow because it's not giant (Vekoma... ahem..) and doesn't obstruct your view of anything (Vekoma.. again). Despite the roughness I just find them comfortable. B&Ms because you feel totally in place. They're not small, but they keep you in place and you feel plenty safe. They don't hurt your thighs during airtime (Intamin) and you don't need to staple yourself to stay in place comfortably. -

What water park is this?
B-RadG replied to kyle2227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I know he is, but I'm saying that as in it's not the same park seeing as the looping water slide is at a park in Germany. False advertising. Because it's not the same park, as one would think. -
