TPR New Front Page In Development!
disney4me2001 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, neither was a deal breaker. I voted for option 1 because it just looked better to me. I found the large image at the top of option 2 just seemed to demand too much of my attention, but it wasn't like the page design was terrible. Same here. I voted for option 1 because I just liked it better than 2 (the large image was a bit much for me), but I could certainly live with either option. Neither are terrible in my opinion. -
TPR New Front Page In Development!
disney4me2001 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I voted for option 1 because of the twitter feed- I like the idea of viewing the tweets from the homepage. This is one feature that I like about multiple theme park sites, so having your site doing the same would be excellent! I feel like doing this saves time- whenever I want updates that are coming specifically from TPR, all I would have to do to see both TPR official updates plus the tweets can be found in one place as opposed to having TPR open in one tab and then opening twitter in another tab and navigating to TPR's feed. In general, what I like about the redesign (on both options) is that the social networking icons are all collected and easily accessible at the top of the page. This is also useful for when I want to check up on one of the social networks! I also like the overall designs of both- the fact that Official TPR Updates and Theme Park News each have their own scrolling feed. It looks much more organized and easier to navigate in my opinion. I also like the scrolling announcements as well since I'd imagine that it will show things like upcoming trips/events and when tickets go on sale. I'm looking forward to the new front page! -
Nice! Is it sad that the first thing I thought of when I read about Charlie Brown's Kite Flyer was that it's going to be a Windseeker Jr.? So it looks like we were right about Log Peeler and Snoopy Bounce leaving, though I'm a little bit surprised at Charlie Brown's Speedway getting removed. But then again, I don't pay much attention to Camp Snoopy, so maybe someone can shed some light on this.

Judging by where the walls are, I would say that it's almost certain. I read an interesting theory from another site. USF's Springfield has the Kang and Kodos spinner. Even with the buildings near The Simpsons Ride that are being removed (Doc Brown's, Hollywood Cantina), there may or may not be enough space for a spinner if USH is going to get all of the same facilities that USF got with their Springfield. However, USH is getting Super Silly Funland (former Coke Soak area outside what was T2:3D) along with Despicable Me. It has already been confirmed by USH that Super Silly Funland will have a spinner attraction. So with that said, could it be possible that USH gets Springfield, but without Kang and Kodos? What I'm getting at is that the spinner in Super Silly Funland would be filling that void.

It depends. I went through it in June and it was pretty terrible. There were maybe three actors throughout and it was exceedingly dark. It had a more touch-tunnel vibe than haunted house. The Frankenstein's Laboratory set was awesome, though. Then I went through again later last year. No HHN overlay or anything, just the regular house. They wisened up. It now has certain hours of operation throughout the day. Rather than having it open the whole time with actors taking breaks, they open it for 1-1.5 hour intervals with every actor inside, then they get (I believe) 45 minutes off where the house is closed. It cycles open and closed all day long. It was AWESOME. Still not the best out there, but WAY better than the first time. There were actors in almost every room and it was brighter so you could actually see the rooms you were in. The hiding spots are all over the place and the actors tend to move from one to the other as each group comes through so you'll never know where they're coming from if you go through multiple times. I really enjoyed it. I just hope they've kept that operational model going. From what I've noticed, House of Horrors operates with that hourly operational model during off-peak seasons. During peak seasons, the attraction stays open all day. So ironically, you may actually get a better experience during the off-season than during the peak seasons (not including HHN, of course)! Personally, I like House of Horrors just because it allows me to get a small taste of HHN outside of haunt season. But it pales in comparison to what is actually offered at the event. So if you haven't been to HHN, don't use House of Horrors as a prime example of one of their event mazes. The sets are pretty awesome and detailed, and the length is decent, but the talent can be lacking if there aren't very many in the maze (which happens during peak seasons since, as KBrylczyk pointed out, actors go on breaks without being replaced). At the very least, it's a unique experience since not many U.S. parks have year-round haunted mazes!

The TPR Member Social Media Poll!
disney4me2001 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I voted for Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. I am constantly checking Facebook, and so I will see a majority of TPR's posts throughout each day (your posts always show up in my Top News Feed!), and so that's where I'm the most active. I also check Twitter regularly, and have caught some of your updates that way as well. While I usually don't use YouTube specifically to check subscriptions, I do watch a lot of TPR's videos (and I am subscribed to your channel)- I get the links from the Facebook page, and in doing so I will usually watch a few other TPR videos that catch my attention. I currently follow TPR on the other social media sites/apps as well, though I just found out about your Pinterest, Google+, and Vine accounts through this poll, which goes to show that I personally don't really use those. But I am going to follow those accounts now so that I can see your posts on the occasions when I do use those sites. I don't have a smartphone or a device that is compatible with Vine, so I can't follow you there for now. However, I do like the Vines that get posted with the updates here on TPR, such as the ones from WDW and USO, so I would like to see them continued! If there were some social media platforms that I wouldn't miss if you decided to stop using them, they would be Google+ and Pinterest. By the way- on your Tumblr page, I saw the post about the MARS, and gave it a try. This is what I teletyped: -
ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange 2013!
disney4me2001 replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As promised, I opened my gift today! Thank you to Carsten Anderson of CPRundown.com for my gifts- I LOVE them! Also a thank you to Brandy for putting the exchange together, as well as to Robb and Elissa for allowing this awesome event to happen here on TPR. This was my first year participating, and I will definitely be signing up for the 2014 exchange! And now, here are the pictures: Let's see what's inside... Very nice! Thank you for the warm Christmas greetings! Thanks, Carsten! Everyone- go follow CP Rundown! I know I will! Here we have some pamphlets celebrating the 50th anniversary of the CP & Lake Erie RR. There's some great info inside! It shows a timeline of Cedar Point's trains! Maps from Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, and Michigan's Adventure! This is great- I'm trying to expand my collection, and this is my first Michigan's Adventure map! Now I have almost all of the Cedar Fair parks! Seasons 1 & 3 of Breaking Bad! I never really got into this show while it was on (never had the time!), so I'm glad I'll have the opportunity to check it out now! Thank you so much for all of the awesome gifts! Happy ChrisHanKwanSivus to everyone! -
ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange 2013!
disney4me2001 replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just wanted to say that I received my gift a few days ago! I'm going to be patient and wait to open it on Christmas Eve, which is when my family and I traditionally open our presents. So I'll be back with photos in 9 days! Thanks in advance to my Secret Santa! Also glad to see that my giftee enjoyed the gifts I picked out for him (he posted earlier in the thread)! Merry ChrisHanKwanSivus to all! -
I got one tonight! So far with my spins I've gotten Marge, Maggie, and Homer in snowman form, and the Christmas Muntz House.

The Official TPR Video Thread!
disney4me2001 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I totally, totally agree with this ! Even tough the few rides built during the Warner ownership had some nice theming (like Batman at SFGAdv which looks great) This is true too! I think that's why I tend to prefer the DC comics themed attractions in the Six Flags parks. In each park I've been to (I go to SFMM regularly, and I've been to SFOT and SFFT one time each), there's at least one DC ride on my "favorites" list! -

This version of Matterhorn (if you want to call it that) actually does look smoother to me than the real one! But it definitely needed some help in the theming department...sadly though, if Six Flags did something like this, I'd probably actually complement them on it just because it would still be better themed than most of their rides! Actually, this ride somewhat reminds me of Runaway Mountain at SFOT for some reason. -
Didn't think to take a screenshot, but when I opened my Mystery Box the other day, I got 30 donuts! I was shocked!

First of the Vekoma clones you rode?
disney4me2001 replied to IronWolfman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I didn't think Vekoma did BTMRR, and I thought they only did Gadgets Go Coaster in Paris. I was just using Wikipedia for confirmation so I could be completely wrong about that. You're right- I was confused with Paris and Tokyo's! Plus I typed this list up when I was a bit tired out. So in that case, here is my amended list: Boomerang- Boomerang at Knott's (my first ride was in 2001 or 2002) G.I.B.- Deja Vu at SFMM (first ride was in 2009) Mine Train- Haven't been on one (all the ones I've been on are Arrow) Roller Skater- Gadget's Go Coaster (first ride was sometime around 1995) -

Haven't been on this one, but I would definitely like to! -
If this is true, then this sounds great! Pretty much what I would expect. I'm glad that they'll be able to add Flight of the Hippogriff- it'll give the park a second coaster, even if it is a "family" coaster as opposed to something like Dragon Challenge (which I never considered as a possibility for USH due to noise restrictions and the backlot).
