  1. Outstanding TR! I was at HW on Sat (5/9) and PP seemed to be having the usual Intamin inaugural breaking-in pains. I didn't see a boat go down for the 2 hours I hung around Thanksgiving (or all day for that matter). It looked like the mechanism that pushes the boat from the platform onto the drop was having issues. We saw a few loaded boats go up. Stay at the top for about 5 minutes, and then come back down the tower. Then the ride went down. It was kind of cool the way the drop looks as they shut the water off. I was in line when it went down. I went back later when I saw the water was back on, but the same problem happened again during testing and it went down again. I didn't stick around for it to come back up. Edit: A guy at work just told me it ran flawlessly all day the next day. Figures. No worries though, I'll be back a ton of times this season. And the new PP area is absolutely beautiful. They nailed it...just as your TR showed.
  2. I'll be there open to close tomorrow (Sunday 5/3)! Can't wait! I'll be sporting the TPR shirt so give me a shout out if you see me!
  3. Awesome! Just the DB video I've been wanting. Thanks! BTW - How fast are you going when you hit the splashdown?
  4. They'd make a lot more $$$ if they let the winner choose which ride they wanted to be the first rider on...even more if you let them choose multiple rides.
  5. When the winning idea is to paint the blimp pink, you're in major trouble. This is going to be an absolute train wreck. Robb hit the nail on the head.
  6. Chris Rock Wanda Sykes Dave Attell
  7. I just picked up a Canon Powershot 790 IS to replace my Powershot A95 that finally died after 5 years. Of course nothing but praise for Canon, but make sure you check the specs for whatever you're buying at Cnet. That will make the selection process much easier. In my case, I needed a point & shoot with the least shutter lag and the 790 was it. It is on par with (and beats more than a few) SLRs! Highly recommend it. Of course, you can't really go wrong with any Canon you buy.
  8. Nice TR, but that's a hell of a lot of driving (Minne - Cinci - Stl & Back)for 2 parks. How many hours were you in the car? And yeah, that triple stack is unexcusable.
  9. Quick question - does Dolly post a schedule of when she plans to be at the park or does she just "show up"? I'd love to see her in person when I go...
  10. What is the projected capacity of the park Shane? Also, will you rotate colors on a daily basis? What would stop me from coming one day, getting a blue wrist band, not taking it off and then coming back the next day and enjoying the blue 4 hours for free? A final question is how will you enforce the times? Professional security? What if you are waiting in line when time expires? Will it be a slide attendant's responsibility to deny access? I can hypothesize a myriad of problems with beligerent guest who don't want to leave. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of trying to minimize crowds, but the truth is that for you (park operator), the more crowded the better. From a business perspective, I'd seriously urge you to consider just selling regular all-day tickets and scrap the armband thing. Best wishes and keep the updates coming!
  11. Precisely why I wear cargos with a zipper pocket to the parks. That gravity is one tough mofo.
  12. First stop for the season will be Worlds of Fun for Prowler's opening. After that will be lots of trips to Holiday World (home park). I also should make it to Beech Bend and am going to do my damndest to make it to Kings Island this year...but I say that every year. Anything else will be bonus.
  13. This photo is stolen from KICentral.com, but is so impressive I had to post it anyway. Check out the line! (The back of the line is on the left.) Looks like 2 hours+ to me. Diamondback Opening Day Line (Photo Courtesy of KICentral.com)
  14. Holiday World is my home park. I made it out there 14 times last season. Not sure if I'll beat that this season but I intend to try.
  15. Whenever I see any kind of water tower, cell-phone tower, tall building, etc., I always find myself trying to approximate which coaster/ride it is as tall as.
  16. I love the train colors! Very handsome. Can't wait to ride first weekend in May!
  17. I'll agree that it does look fantastic (especially the "fur texturing"), but the ride itself seems pretty uneventful.
  18. Is King Kong considered a children's ride? If not, I don't see the attraction. You get in the car, king kong picks you up, looks at you, growls and puts you back down. Where's the excitement? Looks like a big waste of money to me...even for a kid's ride. Here's the video:
  19. Nice. I'll actually be at WoF on May 2 or 3. I'll be sportin' the TPR shirt. Give me a shout out and I'll play one of your games. On the subject, WoF has some rediculously large prizes. You'd seriously have to have a truck to get them home. That orange gorilla is a prime example.
  20. I'm a Whoo and Yeah-er, though I almost always find myself saying "yee-hah" on big drops. I don't know why. I think it's retarded, but yet I always wind up saying it...
  21. A good rule of thumb when reading any group of reviews is to always throw out the best review and the worst review. The extremes are never representative of the truth.
  22. Holiday World season pass here.
  23. Looking good, but wasn't there supposed to be a "splash bridge"?
  24. I'd pay top dollar for a license plate frame with the TPR logo at the top and "I'd Rather Be Riding Roller Coasters" at the bottom...
  25. Here's all the info: http://www.holidayworld.com/clubs/ and this year's shirt designis pretty awesome!
