  1. Would anyone be sad if it closed? The park already lost its heart and soul at the end of the 2004 season, when they got rid of the Warner Bros. themes.
  2. A local newspaper is reporting that the 2014 roller coaster has been cancelled due to Parques Reunidos struggling in Spain and Italy. http://www.derwesten.de/staedte/bottrop/ueberraschendes-aus-fuer-die-achterbahn-im-movie-park-in-bottrop-id7133568.html
  3. Sounds more like Smurf-themed campsite. Not a theme park.
  4. d'wervelwind opens next week, October 1. A local tv station got a little preview yesterday:
  5. And Los Piratas is gone... http://www.bellewaerdefun.be/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1523#p14362
  6. Another update, although not much is happening outdoors.
  7. New for 2013: a restaurant. Already under construction:
  8. And here we go. http://corporate.disneylandparis.com/CORP/EN/Neutral/Images/uk-2012-09-18-debt-Press-release.pdf
  9. New for 2013: Replacing Los Piratas: custom indoor Zierer Family Coaster height: 15 m length: 500 m speed: 50 kph forces: 4G positive ride time: 2 min trains: 2 trains, 20 people each (10 rows of 2) capacity: 1000 pph cost: € 4 million It will start out as a dark ride, with lots of special effects, including fire. Then a lifthill takes you outside through the roof, only to drop you right back into the building for an indoor coaster finale. On-board music. It will be the park's first new roller coaster since 1984, when it opened one of the world's first Boomerangs.
  10. Los Piratas 1991-2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05xfBE5Zols Out-of-the-blue, the park has closed one of their biggest rides last week, for good. Los Piratas was an indoor, pirate-themed boat ride, designed by British firm Space Leisure, with a ride system by Mack. It was one of the park's signature rides, and will be missed, especially its catchy music. photos: BellewaerdeFun, Xtremerides.nl, Pretparken.be
  11. The name of the Spinning Coaster: d’wervelwind (t'whirlwind)
  12. The result of a summer of digging: source & more pics: http://phantasialand-fans.de/topic/6735-neu-2013-chiapas-baufortschritte/page__st__20
  13. Another weird Intamin incident, but it's much, much less serious than it appears. Furius Baco basically has lapbars. The only purpose of the OTSR-extension is to make sure you keep sitting upright. It can break and nothing will happen. You won't fall out. Most people, especially kids, never even touch the OTSR-part:
  14. That scale model is rubbish. Just random crap. Here's the plan of the park. You can see the Vekoma GIB on the left, along with a Mack Wild Mouse - the bigger park model. Bottom right, the Mack launched looper, clearly a clone of BlueFire. And top right, a Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster.
  15. Those are heartline rolls, not zero-g rolls.
  16. The video doesn't reveal much, but it looks great. The drop looks a lot taller... even though it won't be. Technically, it will even be the only of its kind with any inversion.
  17. A 160ft. drop into a brake run. Love everything else though. Beautiful loop.
  18. Sounds like you didn't pronounce it correctly. You pronounce both the p and the f, so dropping the f doesn't make sense. ssh-warts-kop-f http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YjdQrB9OhE#t=49s
  19. Let's hope so. Euro-Disney management has already confirmed there are plans for a big makeover. There are plans for many new rides, a new name and a hotel bordering the park. Right now the plan is to build something new every year and eventually change the name of the park. But they would prefer to (be able to) build it all at once, and change the name overnight. This buyout could certainly speed things up. (↓ To jedimaster1227:) This was talked about at multiple investor meetings.
  20. Likely. Hopefully it gets new trains with those flex-restraints.
  21. A suspended coaster has swinging trains. However, not every manufacturer uses the same terminology. While everyone knows what Arrow's Suspended Coaster is, Vekoma uses the term "suspended" for every single one of their coasters with trains below the track. For example their "Suspended Looping Coaster" is really an inverted coaster, as it does not swing at all. The ride for Fårup will swing, but only a little bit. That does however not mean that every Vekoma "Suspended Family Coaster" swings. Only the ones with the new trains: Jimmy Neutron, Kvasten and Steel Lasso. Very confusing. Vekoma also used to sell a ride called "Swinging Turns", which was a real suspended coaster.
  22. When did you visit this park? It looks abandoned. Then again, I don't think I've ever seen a photo report of a Chinese park that wasn't abandoned.
