  1. Thanks for the info. I've needed a spark to get me back on track, and this just might do the trick. I have two months, so I better seriously get to work on it!
  2. Okay, so since I'm a big and tall guy, now I'm worried. There have been a couple of comments about how "accommodating" the seats are...so are we talking Millennium Force tight or El Toro, or somewhere along the lines of Maverick? I'm working on my weight, but I've been on a bit of a plateau for the past month...though primarily a self-induced plateau. I'll be at KI in two months and I have got to ride this coaster! Do I need to get serious? (well, I know the answer to that, but do I need to SERIOUSLY get serious?)
  3. Since the untimely demise of the dearly departed Astroworld, I have to make the 3 1/2 hour drive to San Antonio or Arlington. I usually hit SFOT 8 to 10 times a season, and I make at least one trip to SFFT. I live in the town where there is supposed to be a new amusement/theme park being built, Earth Quest, but we haven't heard much about it lately, so who knows. However, if/when it is finished, I will be one happy camper!
  4. I am so there! I'll be ordering my copies immediately if not sooner.
  5. 170 miles would only be about 3 hours, so that's not too bad. We could get up early on Tuesday and spend the day at BGW, then that would still give us Wednesday to drive to Pigeon Forge. Thanks for the great info and ideas. If you think of anything else, please share. You guys (and gal) are great! I can't wait to join a TPR trip in 2010! Look out UK(?) here we come!
  6. Just let the riders eat a bunch of cheese before they board the trains. That solves the weight problem with the added benefit of the excess cheese helping to cut down on potty breaks. Ooh! Then Carnegie Deli could sell Laxative Lattes with their Ex-Lax Tiramisu or maybe Cold Stone could serve mineral oil malts. This would help Six Flags to further an increase in revenue, saving the company from ruin! Cheese never felt so good!
  7. For a couple of parts of the trip we're going to have a base to run from. We'll stay in Louisville for the Beech Bend/SFKK/Holiday World portion. For the Hershey/Knoebels/Dorny portion we were planning on Staying in Bethel which is kind of in the middle. Do you know how crowded Knoebels typically is on Saturdays? It would actually give us a little more time in SFGAdv if we went to Knoebels Saturday and Dorney Sunday, because we would change from staying in Danville, a little north of Elysburg, to somewhere between Allentown and well, somewhere closer to Jersey. Actually, I'm flying from Texas to Memphis to pick up my neice who is just finishing up at Memphis Univ. (a graduation gift we'll both enjoy) We're starting the driving from there. Like a moron I've already booked my airline tickets and I'm flying back from Memphis late Friday, July 3. I tossed around the idea of stopping at Six Flags America, Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion, the Carolinas' parks, etc., instead of Dollywood, but my neice really wants to go to Dollywood. (Plus, so do I, especially after watching a special of Dolly on the Biography channel. She is an amazingly strong woman with an incredible life story!) Then I started thinking, it would be a cinch to plan a quick trip at any time to the DC area and visit to the parks in that area. Does that sound like a good plan to you? ...hmmm...wait a minute, now if you think Knoebels isn't too crowded on Saturday, so we change and do that...then do Dorney Sunday, which gives us a full day at SFGAdv Monday...then I could add on maybe Williamsburg (or Great America, or Kings Dominion) on Tuesday... Oh jees! I've racked my brain until it's mush. I'm DEFINITELY letting y'all do the planning next year!
  8. First I must say that I do admit that planning this trip has been fun, but a real pain in the butt, and next year I'm going to join a TPR trip and leave the planning to the REAL experts; I can't wait!! Okay, there have been some posts of personal trips recently, so I apologize for adding another, but at the same time I know that TPR has many people who are experts on this topic, and I just want to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Here are my plans: Fri. June 19 - Beech Bend Sat. - Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Sun. - Holiday World Mon. - Kings Island Tue. - Cedar Point (if needed, we will start the morning at KI) Wed. - Cedar Point Thur. - Kennywood Fri. - Hersheypark Sat. - Dorney Sun. - Knoebels Mon. - afternoon at Six Flags Great Adv. Tue. - SFGAdv. Thur. - Dollywood I tried to schedule the bigger parks on weekdays. My primary concerns are Holiday World on a Sunday, Hershey on a Friday, and whether or not I should switch Knoebels to Saturday and Dorney to Sunday. If there's anything you feel I'm missing or have any advice on restructuring the direction of the trip, please advise. Thanks! Also, for anyone who has ever thought that TPR trips are too expensive, trust me; I've learned while planning this that a trip with TPR is an incredible bargain! Next year I will won't have to spend hours and hours planning, I'll save money, plus I won't have to drive a zillion miles...not to mention that the trips look like they're insanely a blast!
  9. I loved this movie! I, like everyone else, went in expecting something similar to Superbad, but figured out pretty early on that it was going to be something quite different. I thought it was...well....just downright sweet as all get out! ...that's right, I said "sweet"...don't judge me....lol
  10. Thanks for sharing; those are super!! I try to keep different wallpapers up to help with my motivation to keep losing pounds so I can get to coaster weight. Those are going to help tremendously!! Again, THANKS!
  11. I'm actually more of a "Woooo! Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Bring it to me! Yeah Baby!! Yeaaaaaahhh! Who's yo' daddy!?!Wooooooooooooooyayayayayayayayayayaayayayayaaaaaaa! Ahhhhahahahahaha!!!!!!!! SWEET! Oh HELL yeah!!! WOOOOOOO yayayayayayayayaya!!!!!!!!!" followed by "Thank you sir may I have another!" type of person.
  12. I can't wait to ride it! I'll be there in June. Woo-hoo!
  13. Actually, those 'perks' sound great to me. I'm going to be using my platinum pass at Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Dorney. I do wish that you could get an extra hour early at Kings Island too, right now they have 1/2 hour early entry listed. But, I suppose even a half hour early to get in line for Diamondback is WAY better than nothing.
  14. I have my trusty Six Flags pass, which I'm excited about using at 5 different parks this year. Plus, since I'm going to three Cedar Fair parks (Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Dorney) I'm going to buy the platinum pass. I know two passes is kind of lame compared to a bunch of you, but I'm still pretty excited! I have made a decision, however; this year I'm dropping way too much cash planning my own park trip,(which I'm kicking myself for because after all is said and done I could have done the Scandi trip for the same money) so I've made up my mind that next year I am for sure getting in on the fun by travelling on a TPR trip.
  15. Past: I would have to definitely go with the ORIGINAL Texas Cyclone...before any neutering and absolutely no coffin cars. Present: Millennium Force! Damn you, my overly rotund middle section!! Damn you to hell!!
  16. This is the payoff for a two hour wait....just look at the joy on everyone's faces. (it's obvious that the kid in the front row hasn't learned about death yet) Who needs a laxative when you have Kingda Ka?
  17. I'm so glad you had fun on your visit; SFOT is a really great park! I went last Wednesday and it was unbelievably crowded. I've never bought a Flash Pass when I've gone, but went ahead and paid for a regular one (after an hour and a half wait). We were only able to ride 5 rides, including Titan twice, but it was still a blast as always. I usually take a ride on the Skycoaster (Dive Bomber Alley), but even its wait looked to be well over an hour. What kind of wait times are there with the Gold Pass? With the regular one we still had to wait two hours before heading to Titan. Which, by the way, is a great toe-tingling ride. Many of my friends have said that they gray out on it after that last helix, so you're not alone. I guess if you don't know it's coming it could be a pretty weird feeling.
  18. Great photos! I too love Steel Eel; it's one of my favorite coasters. I'm glad you shared your trip because after my trip to SFOT I was thinking of heading to San Antonio later this week instead of making another trip to Arlington. Now, I think I'll wait a while. SFOT was extremely crowded Wednesday. Everything had very long lines. But I do have to say, even though it is early in the season and the crowd was unbelievable, everything went very smoothly. All of the ride ops were very professional and kept things moving along. I've seen a rather marked improvement in this for the past few years. What I was even more pleased with were the people working in shops, and food booths (except for one schmo at the season pass processing building who took his job a bit too seriously). They were very friendly and fun to chat with. It was nice to see Mr. Six back scaring the little children. Oh, and the park was very clean to boot! Also, I must also mention that the coupon book with the season passes is much better this year. Hope you have a Six Flags day!
  19. As bad as many think people Texas Giant has become, it stayed busy all day today. First of all, when we arrived at the park, we had to park only a few rows from the VERY back of the parking lot(as in back close to the Ballpark)! Our first hour and a half were spent in the Flash Pass line. I can not remember the last time I saw SFoT this crowded! Lines for everything were flippin' unbelievably long! When we checked the Fast Pass time for Texas Giant at about 7:50, it said that our time in line would be 9:28!! It might be rough, but people still love that rough ol' woodie.
  20. This is a sad day for me. I really liked the Alamo facade. I also am one of the few people I know that loves Texas Giant the way it is. I just hope it maintains its controlled chaos feel after the work is finished. As for our other Six Flags park in Texas, I would rather see a complete overhaul of Rattler than see a new attraction. Although there aren't many, Fiesta Texas has some nice coasters: Superman, Polty, and Goliath. Rattler is a beautiful ride to look at but boring as heck! A well-thought-out plan for track work to get a little speed back on it would be great.
  21. My first coaster is going to definitely be Titan at SFOT...unless it's down like it was last year, in which case it would change to Texas Giant. I'm heading down probably Friday, so I do hope that the crowds aren't too bad.
  22. I just wanted to throw in another "yes" vote on a dark rides DVD. That would be awesome!
  23. I watch both of them equally as much. The Expedition discs are hilarious to watch and always have me rolling. After watching them I am hoping to make...no I am GOING to make one of the TPR trips next year. As for the footage discs, I'm actually using them during my workouts. (side story) Five or 6 years ago I saw a show on Travel Channel that showed Millennium Force and decided to lose the weight it would take to get on it. Over a little more than 2 years I lost 202 pounds (I was quite a biggun!) and finally visited Cedar Point only to find out that Millennium Force was DOWN when we were there!! Well, unfortunately I put on 7 or 8 (dozen) pounds after that. Last year I went back to Cedar Point and due to my extra poundage I could not fit on Millennium (nor TTD, Raptor, or Wicked Twister for that matter). So, for a New Year's resolution I decided to lose the 85-90 pounds I'd gained, and I'm using the videos as motivation during my workouts. It's a match made in heaven!! I get to watch the object of my goal while listening to upbeat music. So far I've lost 42 pounds since the first of the year (results not typical), and I owe it all to the videos!! I've got my trip planned again this summer, and I'm really hoping I can fit on Millennium. Atkins, South Beach, Nutri-System...who needs 'em?!? I'm living the TPR Coaster Expedition Nutrition Plan! Thanks Dr. Alvey! Oh, by often showing the footage discs for a reward, I've also turned my students into coaster junkies. (I'd love to show them the Expedition discs, but they're a little too pg-13.) All of the discs are great! I vote that you keep doing them the exact same way and don't change a thing.
