Not really...the only one that you might not be comfortable with would be Runaway Mountain, but like Robb said, the cars are a nice size and though it is dark, you can tell that the coaster area is quite open. I think you'll have a blast! FYI, it's supposed to be pretty chilly...at least by Texas standards, lol. I was hoping to drive up Friday, but might have to postpone it to the weekend or midweek next week due to the weather.

I would suggest, if you're apprehensive at all, that you skip Runaway Mtn. and ride Titan again. SFOT is a really fun park. They have a good variety of rides. The only rides that I can think of that have enclosed queues are Runaway Mtn., Mr. Freeze, and Batman, but getting a fastpass would pretty much alleviate that problem. Mr. Freeze and Batman are both a blast, so as long as the queues don't look like they would cause a problem, be sure to ride them. All of the other rides have lines that are pretty wide open. IMO the best coasters they have are Titan, Shockwave, Texas Giant, Mr. Freeze, and Batman. (Some people gripe about Texas Giant being a tad bit rough...okay, it's incredibly rough, but it's also a blast.) Good luck and have a great time!

That's true...well, it's a great park anyway, so I can't wait to go back. Maybe when nobody's looking I'll just jump onto the track and run through it making rumbly-wooden-bobsled noises mixed in with the occasional "weee!" thrown in just for my own personal experience. -

Does anyone have news about progress on Flying Turns and its status for this summer? I'm heading up in late June and really have my hopes up! -

Choice of a few theme parks...

I haven't been to Holiday World, but it sounds terrific; I'm heading there this June and can not wait. SFOT is a blast though. I live in the Houston area, so I have to choose between Arlington or San Antonio for my amusement park fix. I make about 10 or more trips to SFOT during the summer (i'm a teacher) and have an amazing time every time I visit. Titan is a pretty intense coaster but is smooth as silk and a great re-ride. Shock Wave, Mr. Freeze, and Batman are all fun coasters too. They also have plenty of good flats for thrill seekers and families to enjoy as well. If you go during the week, the crowds are usually pretty manageable. Wherever you choose, you'll have an amazing time I'm sure. Good luck! -
Worst Coaster Experience
coastersrule85 replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had watched a video that talked about the engineering of Millennium Force and decided to lose weight so I could fit on coasters and one day ride Millennium. About 130 pounds into the diet some friends and I went to Astroworld. Everything was going great; I rode my first coasters in almost 20 years, even my first inverted coaster, an amazing experience at the time. Well, they wanted to ride XLR-8, a suspended coaster, and my friends decided we should ride it backwards. Remembering that it was pretty tame, I didn't see a problem with it. ...bad idea! I got so nauseous on that ride. I wasn't up to riding anything else for the rest of the day. I just watched them having a blast on everything while I continued to watch the ground sway back and forth...back and forth... I've discovered that riding forward I can take anything...backwards, the only thing I can take is a TUMS. -
Absolutely, and I still need to say thanks for sending my replacement DVD so soon. I had ordered RAW 2 and one of the DVDs had come off of the peg, which is when I'm guessing it cracked. within a week I had a replacement DVD of RAW 2. I've ordered three others, and all of them plus the replacement were in great shape when they arrived! Thanks again Robb!

Gosh, I hate that HSTC is being removed. I went to Knoebels last summer and rode it thinking it was just going to be your typical kiddy coaster, but it was a lot of fun! It was definitely not your usual kiddy ride; I laughed my butt off the whole time. However, I can see the need if they're worried about safety. Knoebels is just such an awesome park no matter what. I'm heading back up to Knoebels from the Houston area again this summer, so hopefully Flying Turns will be open! -
I now have both RAW videos, and I must say that they are awesome! It's hard to decide which type I prefer; I love them all. I mean, it's great watching the amazing time everyone has on the Expedition videos, but I also enjoy just sitting in front of the TV watching the fabulous POV on the RAW vids while I anxiously await spring. Bottom line...if you have not bought either the RAW or Expedition DVDs, I recommend you do it ASAP! GUARANTEED, you won't be disappointed!

WOW! I got my Raw 2, Coaster Expedition vol. 10, and America's Rockin' Theme Parks DVDs today. If you've been debating about buying some DVDs or whether they're worth it, think no more! They are AWESOME!! The footage is great, the quality is amazing, and the expedition DVD really captures the fun y'all have on the TPR trips. (gees, i have got to go on one!) Thanks, Robb, for getting them to me so quickly! Also, thanks so much for throwing in the extras. I'll be buying Raw vol. 1 for sure! Thanks, John

My first coaster experience was a horrific one! It was on the Mini Mine Train at Six Flags Over Texas. I was about seven, and my then 14 year-old brother led me to believe it was a train, as in "choo-choo." When we started up that "huge" hill, I realized that something was not quite right. I just remember as we crested the hill beginning a barage of violent declarations on my brother's life. I'm pretty sure it was the first time my mother heard such a colorful array of expletives escape my mouth. When the ride was over, they had to pry my fingers from the bar...and later from my brother's throat. Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure that was when I started losing my hair too! LOL I'm glad he did it though, because I've been hooked ever since!

Underrated Coasters?
coastersrule85 replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One of my favorite wooden coasters is Texas Giant at SFOT. Sure, it beats the hell out of you, but what good woodie doesn't? I have a blast on Titan at SFOT: great drop, fast, nice g's, and decent air all in one great re-ride coaster. Poltergeist at SFFT has a good launch along with a spaghetti bowl of funness! At CP I have a blast on Wicked Twister, and I really enjoy Hydra at Dorney. A coaster you hardly hear about, again probably because it's not as well known, is Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. It really is a Blast in the Wilderness...okay, that is if the wilderness is a place full AARP members who go to mingle at overpriced hotels and shows...
