  1. Yup, that's the right turn after the first drop, and when you consider the second hill of Skyrush is 80 feet compared to Magnum's 2nd hill at 157 feet - Skyrush is going to be one mean hyper. I don't think that animation did the ride justice the more we learn about it and think (hope) Skyrush will be something between a mega-lite and I305.
  2. Thanks for the response Robb. Too bad he couldn't be more candid, but you have to respect him on all levels.
  3. Great updates as always. Thank you VERY much. Robb, I understand B&M can't talk about much, and yes, he's a bit stiff in-front of the camera, but did he mention anything about rotating seats on their wing rider coasters, and/or if 2013 will be as strong for them as 2012?
  4. Agreed. This annual show always gets me excited and hope some day to attend in person.
  5. I agree that Skyrush has the potential to be one of the best coasters of 2012, while the brake run appears to be similar in size to Ros/Bizarro.
  6. Thanks for posting the video. I love the turn-around and look forward to seeing it going vertical.
  7. It does look huge and can't wait to see that first drop complete.
  8. Can't wait to see this bad boy in action. The ride looks amazing so far, and just hope they don't have to use the trim at the bottom of the first drop. Another Mantis wouldn't be a good thing imo.
  9. The update is greatly appreciated and really makes me re-think my past opinion of Verboten. I now think it will be a perfect replacement for BBW.
  10. Excellent points Gnome. You can't argue the fact that Intamin rides deliver a thrilling experience ranking many as the best in the world. However the ongoing costs to the parks (lawsuits, replacement parts, retrofits, bad PR, etc) may very well have set them back with CF. Don't get me wrong, I love Intamin rides, but can easily understand a chain like CF gravitating to B&M, especially with their new wing-rider concept. With that said, given the trim brake at the bottom of Swarm's first drop, makes me think of Mantis - so imho it's anyone's guess. I would definitely travel to Knotts for an Intamin, but think that won't happen, and would place my Vegas bet on a CF three coaster deal with B&M (CW, CP, and Knotts).
  11. Thanks for the pics. This ride truly looks like it will be epic!
  12. Thanks for the info. B&M is certainly going to have a great 2012, and possibly well beyond with their wing-rider and giga models.
  13. I agree that a computerized system is very unlikely to happen due to the risk of malfunction and the shear number of components, cost, and weight needed to make it work. Any 4D system will need to be fail safe, so a mechanical system would be the only option. B&M has always been the more expensive manufacturer, and suspect even with launches and 4D, that won't change. Parks that want to push the envelop will gravitate towards Intamin, while parks that want value and a reliable ride will pay the additional cost for B&M. Due to the limited market for coasters, I don't believe we'll ever see a "price war."
  14. I think a launched wing-rider or 4D would be a great addition to CP
  15. I'm not questioning the $22m number, but more the company that provided it since it prices them out of the work. You don't have to be in the industry to know $22m is a crazy number that would never justify the additional investment. It's a shame because MS is a beautiful ride to look at, and not worth the time even as a walk on. I guess on the positive side, it's a ton of land that could accommodate a "real" draw at that end of the park.
  16. Did anyone ask a follow-up question as to why it was twice the cost of Texas? With the amount of space MS takes up, at $22m, you could easily build 3 Zac Spins there and have a ton of space left over.
  17. I totally agree Maverick's airtime hill is light-years more enjoyable than Magnums, and to be honest, it is basically a carbon copy of the RoS bunny hills at the end. I love ejector air, and don't mind a little bruising on my knees. With that said, I hate whiplash elements. That one section on Maverick, and two on I305 are my least favorite coaster elements - but rank both Maverick and I305 in my personal top 10.
  18. It really does look impressive, especially with the key hole effect. This is one of the rides to watch in 2012 no doubt.
  19. This will definitely be on my 2012 list of "must" rides no doubt ! Looks awesome !
  20. From talking to my friends in the area, the sun is out and the wind is dying down. It should be a great day at Hershey especially in a few hours.
  21. I suspect "stroller women" was using the stroller to help maintain her balance while walking from looking at how she's holding and pushing it. It's less noticeable than a cane or walker, lighter, and frequently easier to push.
  22. I totally agree, and have been trying to figure out why/how a decision like this was made. While Magnum and MF look dramatically different, the root of each ride is that they are non-looping steel coasters with MF being 100 feet taller. Basic I know, but true. So what if CP went to B&M asking for a giga looper of some kind for 2013? Robb mentioned earlier how conservative B&M was, and up until the announcement, I had no idea how true that appears to be. So maybe B&M said they needed to build a traditional giga first before tackling a looper and CW was chosen? It's not a bad choice, since the attendance at CW certainly warrants a giga, My $.02 on figuring out a GREAT coaster, just a weird decision imho
  23. Cedar Point already posted that their 2012 announcement is tomorrow, which will be even less exciting than today's from Canada.
  24. Boy, I am thrilled with another coaster especially one over 300 feet, but how underwhelming. It honestly reminds me of Morgan's first Giga with SD2K, with no innovations, taking Behemoth and giga sizing it! I honestly expected a new lift for B&M or seats, and then when I saw the MTBR, wow! There goes the thought that this will be the predecessor for CP's next coaster. Congrats CW, this WILL be a great ride and addition to the park no doubt. - OH, one final point, boy were Gary Slade and Paul Ruben WRONG! Engineering marvel? The one ride to experience in 2012 (over a wing rider at Dollywood or the new train on Skyrush) - NOT (imho).
