  1. Interesting clue Could the primary color be the track color? Could the winged facet they show, be a clue about the train?
  2. Can't argue with any of your points no doubt. Wildcat is a classic that may have seen better days, while MS is a total disappointment. I still like Blue Streak and hope that stays for a good long time. I also agree Soak City could use an upgrade and suspect any or most of these changes could be accomplished in addition to adding Dinosaurs alive. If the revenue split is truly 50/50, I suspect CP's investment is minimal for this attraction.
  3. Thanks for the great dialogue Steve and agree / hope CP will try to keep their reputation in tact. I like wood too, since Boulder Dash is less than 2 hours away, but you can only do so much with traditional wood. I LOVE El Toro for the fact it delivers an amazing ride and takes wood to a new level. Maverick was an AMAZING addition to the park and really delivers imo and completely understand the challenges that TTD represents. With that said, TTD still out ranks KK and in my opinion still delivers for the park. (I still get nervous every time I get into my seat) - LOL - lap bars really make a difference imo. All I can say in closing is that my first ride on I305 was with Kerry Earnheart, I WILL be at Knotts if they build a giga, had no desire to make the trip to Tampa this year, and wish Takabisha was closer. Happy 4th to all!
  4. Thanks for the insight Steve, which of course prompts a few more questions if you don't mind. I guess the crux of my question is given CP's past marketing as "America's roller coast" and their desire for records, your response leads me to think they are moving away from their past marketing tact? I too thought a Zac Spin made sense, but have never embraced a new woodie after MS, and never thought of a family coaster after all the family friendly attractions over the last few years, especially if Dinosaurs comes to the point. I know with the new management it's tough to predict, but do you think CP is moving away from world record coasters? Since we don't know each other, I'm a HUGE CP fan-boy. I live in Boston, went to CP by myself in '89 for the opening of Magnum, had season passes at CP in '90 through '93, due to my love of non-looping coasters, like most of the GP. I've visited CP for every coaster opening they've had since 89, and honestly doubt I'd make a trip for a "family" coaster like Cheetah Hunt. So in your opinion is the era of world record coasters at CP over/delayed, or do you think we could see something like Takabisha, the most recent world record coaster?
  5. Fair enough Steve. Can I ask since you haven't heard anything firm about CP, what your personal thoughts are on when we can expect a coaster at CP and what options you think they are considering?
  6. So Steve! You alluded to knowing things years in advance - Can you shed any light (at this point) regarding 2013? What you hearing? I have to ask since you left the door so open. Tom - who wishes every a happy 4th with plenty of slushies !
  7. It certainly is entertaining, on this gloomy day here in the Northeast. I think given Steve's track record, he knows what he can and can not post on boards like this. I also think Cedarfair1 has lost sight of the fact Canada's Wonderland outdraws CP, and the Ohio economy is in the toilet, not to mention the fact he confirms he has no sources for his opinion. You certainly are passionate Cedarfair1, and share your disappointment if CP doesn't get a coaster next year. Cedar Point is head and shoulders above SFMM and like you, hate to see them claim any coaster notoriety at CP's expense. Given the lack of land clearing or construction at CP for a 2012 coaster, unlike what we are seeing at Dollywood, Thorpe, or Hershey, I think we should give Steve some credit for shedding some light on a possible attraction. Cedar Fair has a strong track record of delivering GREAT Intamin rides, and the thought of them installing their 3rd Giga at Knotts, gets me VERY excited! I also think/hope the longer CP goes without installing a coaster, the higher the likelihood it will trounce some world records. Happy 4th !
  8. Ya know, when I typed Zac Spin I did pause because SF is supposed to be installing them nationally if Green Lantern is successful at MM. I stuck with a Zac Spin because there was a coaster show a while back showing one on a wall within a CP's VP office. It also is relatively cheap and quick to install. I know everyone wants a woodie for CP, but I see them fixing MS before installing a new one - time will tell. What do you think Canada's Wonderland is going to get? Tom (btw)
  9. Wow - I am sure CF is getting some laughs with this thread no doubt. If Dinosaurs Alive is $5, which is pretty reasonable, that means 2,000 to 4,000 people per day are paying the fee, which as a percentage to the total admissions is probably under 10%. This seems pretty plausible to me as an executive myself. Isn't calling someone a "liar" within a thread a violation of ToS? And finally, from a strategic point of view, since MM took the most coasters crown this year, CP could add Dinosaurs next year along with a small inexpensive coaster to tie for the record! I think adding a Giga to Knotts is brilliant, sucking the wind from MM's sails, since this ride would be 100 feet taller than Goliath and could easily be more thrilling / intense, since it's Intamin. A world firsts gravity coaster over 100 MPH would certainly get some attention on the West Coast imo. If memory serves me correctly, Cedar Fair typically allocates about $80m/year for capital improvements nationally. It's not CP's style to go for quantity over quality like MM did. A $25m ride for Knotts is 31% of an $80m budget, and think a giga for Knotts next year, with maybe a $10m attraction for CW, a $5m coaster at CP (Zac Spin?) and more Windseekers for the rest of the parks like KD is probable. Then you've freed up your budget for CP to install a world record, "blow your socks off ride" in 2013 ! My $.02
  10. Well, if you consider the possibility that Knotts may be getting a giga next year, a Dinosaur attraction makes good economic sense, especially if KI's has been well received. Cedar Fair can only add so many $20+ million attractions in any given year. As much as I'd like to see a thrill ride sooner rather than later for CP. My guess / hope would be that CP has something huge planned for the following year. You can almost take it to the bank given the length of time since Maverick opened. I can wait another year if a world record thrill ride is installed at CP, especially if Knotts gets a giga.
  11. I hope it's true. Knotts could use an attraction like this, and if it does get built, you can be sure CP will have something even more special for their next coaster.
  12. Great pics from what looked like a picture perfect day (pun intended) LOL I wish on-ride photos would come out that good.
  13. I saw this video on another site, read the TPR posting rules, and think I did this right and wanted to share the video of them testing three (3) cars - This ride has a beautiful flow and hope we get one in the States soon.
  14. Just to clarify, I am sure CP is aware of the situation, and taking the appropriate actions if needed, while I didn't say or imply the ride wasn't safe. What I did say was that I personally will never ride it. I'm not a fan of spinning rides and have only ridden a yo-yo once. That kind of excitement 300 feet in the air just isn't my cup of tea.
  15. I think the ride will "look" like I305 because of the lift, but if you remember the very first RoS at DL, it has a large swooping turn after the first drop. My bottom line - This will be another EPIC Intamin airtime coaster based on what I've seen, with lots of ground hugging turns and hopefully some surprises ! My $.02
  16. I'm amazed by the video too - Of course the camera angle may have something to do with it - but it actually looked like one of the riders actually pushed away another chair with his feet - I can't believe it and will NEVER ride Windseeker (fix or no fix).
  17. Thanks for the video - Windseeker looks amazing. I guess we now know why CF went with steel arms over chains.
  18. It will be interesting to watch no doubt. Part of me thinks it makes a ton of sense, while if SF considers Hershey or Dorney as competitors, it makes little sense since you have to basically drive by SFGA to get to either of those park.
  19. Maybe the track will be green? Interesting choice no doubt.
  20. You make a good point about removing coasters and how that usually means a new one is coming. Given SF's financial position and their past comments, a Zac Spin would the cost effective solution, while it's uniqueness would potentially motivate people to visit them over Hershey and Dorney, which are a good four hours away from SFA. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a new Beemer at SFA, but you can't ignore the rumor that more Zac Spins are coming if Green Lantern is a success.
  21. I thought Lance had reported that if the Green Lantern at SFMM was successful this year, other SF parks nationally would receive one next year. I agree the park would benefit from a B&M, especially from a capacity point of view, but a Zac Spin would provide the "wow" factor the park needs to compete against KD and BGW.
  22. Anjlover, I don't think or recall the significance of flashing letters being determined. Now that blue track has arrived, the letters may mean nothing, while the colors themselves could represent the track, support, and trains.
  23. The video is awesome - thanks for posting it! I agree the lift takes forever but the ride looks smooth and really does flow well. I also think the car looks very small and is funny to watch - can't wait for a POV.
  24. Jarmor, you really had me going with your logic until I counted the spaces myself and came up with 11. I think you forgot to count the very last space and as someone else posted, it could say "Negative Gs"
  25. I completely agree that airtime could be "All of which will produce the most," - just like BGW did when they opened AC and Intamin is the company that can deliver no doubt imo.
