Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

I completely agree that this ride could be the predecessor for CP in 2013. I don't think this will be a traditional giga, since it will be too much like Behemoth. We'll find out soon enough, but since every 4D is well over 200 feet, I wouldn't be surprised to see this being B&M's first 4D coaster. -

GC could also refer to General Contractor. That box looks a bit small to hold a coaster seat, but ya never know. Thanks for the other pic since it really helps put the construction site into perspective. -

If you were a shareholder, the first question you would ask is "What's the Return on Investment (ROI)" from adding a giga? Since the park's attendance is so strong, a 5% increase in attendance is significantly higher at CW than a smaller park with a lower attendance, yielding a stronger ROI. We'll find out on the 18th, but also keep in mind Gary Slade has said this ride will be an engineering marvel, so maybe this ride will have something the other 3 gigas world-wide don't have. -

Regarding the restraints, choosing seats, and first drop, we should have these answers by the first of next week. If anyone has any additional questions, they need to be submitted by this Saturday. There will also be a meeting this Friday with all park employees to explain the game and provide all the answers to the game. If you have game related questions, they need to be submitted to park employees before Friday. -

^^ With all due respect, there is a flaw in your logic comparing Skyrush to an inverted coaster. Of course there are no issues with an inverted inside seat because everyone's feet are dangling. With Skyrush, you have a choice of traditional seating or wing-rider - and given how few 4D and wing-riders are out there - I believe the VAST majority of riders will prefer to ride the outside seats. Riding a coaster with nothing below or above you is a very unique experience and will be the major draw of the ride - especially given the tag line "Ride the Edge." -

I agree this will be interesting. At first I thought AJ was right and there could be separate rows for each, but after looking at the train PDF and animation, it appears each row though disjointed, has 2 inside and 2 outside - ARG. I wish that all the seats were outside, because I don't most people will want the inside seats (go figure). -

I think it is the PERFECT addition to Hershey and the new trains should solve the vibration issues. The video is horrible in terms of details, so I'll wait to pass judgement on the ride until I ride it opening day as a Jr. Researcher -

Glad you liked my translation Rudie - Can't wait till 8/2 - this ride is going to be EPIC ! -
Rudie - I installed a Dunkin' Donuts within the Central Intellegence Agency in Langley VA. I understand contracts and know how billion dollar organizations work. It is a FACT CF cashed a $2.5 million check from Intamin, and in my opinion, makes a TON of sence that CF would protect themselves as Intamin drives their business. We can just agree to disagree, since neither of us will ever see the contract in question.
-
It was in their annual report and didn't go into specifics as to what the check was for. One can assume there was a clause in their contract for Intamin with TTD that Intamin would pay if they built a clone in the US, or at least that's how I interpreted it. We'll never see the TTD contract, so it's anyone's guess, but the payment was disclosed on their financials.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Thom25 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If CP wanted the "most" title back, they could have it next year with a couple cheap kiddie coasters as you mentioned. I don't think they care. What I suspect they do care about is SFGA, with the worlds tallest and fastest, and Hershey with a new coaster opening next year. I live in Boston and try to get to one of those three parks every year. I've lost count of all the New Yorkers I've met at CP, so I personally think CP will have something epic for us in 2013. While the East Coast is out of CP's immediate marketing area, with 50% of the entire US population living between Boston and Washington DC, I just think they'll give us a reason to make the <12 hour drive. -

In my opinion, CP IS the top amusement park (couldn't resist). I don't think having the most coasters is an important factor because imo CP has always gone for quality not quantity. I completely agree something needs to be done with MS. It is one of the most photogenic coasters on the plant, while also being one of the worst. I'd love to see an Intamin woodie airtime monster and believe at some point, CP will once again go for the world's tallest and/or fastest. -

I'm sure they think and consider just about everything we do here. It's really about funding, the economy, and marketing. I don't think they'll get rid of MS, since that would make reclaiming the most coasters title that much harder. I would love to see dueling Intamin woodies - while they certainly could follow MM's tact of adding multiple coasters of varying sizes and costs to reclaim the title. The question is do they want it back and I'm sure that will be a top priority of the new management. I certainly like what they've been saying about respecting their past and legacy and moving forward. Time will tell and doubt CP will disappoint. -

I too would hate to see DT leave - it's fun for us ol' heads who need a break from the big thrill rides, especially on a hot day, and a perfect ride for those middle kids. There is nothing more that I personally would like to see but a bigger ET running along the beach - it is one GREAT air time machine that was smooth as glass the last time I rode it. -

Couldn't agree more. El Toro is a GREAT ride and with the new management, maybe they'll consider it. Kinzel did once say he'd never get an Intamin woodie, so who knows. I'm using your same logic with the 4D B&M throwing it at MM's face - especially now that they have the worlds most title. -

Couldn't agree more Haydn. In fact, I've heard inversions turn off 50% of the general public, which is why CP is so non-inversion heavy with coasters. To me, Maverick isn't the type of looper I can't ride all day - I love Maverick and think it's time CP got another looper and a B&M 4D would be perfect for them (imho). -

First lets not forget Mantis as a true looper, even with its drawbacks. I love the idea of a floorless/flyer dueling coaster, but doubt that will come to fruition, though with a potential 6 year gap between coasters, the next one should be significant. I personally think they'll get a B&M wing-rider, and hope it's a true 4D, though after seeing Takabisha's POV, I REALLY hope someone like CP gets one soon. -

My guess is that it will be B&M's first Wing Rider with rotating seats, rumored to be in the works already. A B&M 4D coaster would certainly fit with CP's past installations imo.
