  1. Thanks for posting the pic of the train Coasterking, pretty sweet lookin (no doubt). I do have one question: Why would you put side windows on a coaster train? WTF Thats the only thing I don't particularly care for, but what's more important is how it rides! Can't wait to see some testing videos.
  2. It's been ages since I've been to Canobie and can't wait to visit again in 2011. This looks like a great ride and a perfect addition to a beautiful park. The Yankee Canonball was my first coaster, so I can't slam it, but it isn't Bizzaro (no doubt).
  3. Amazing angle, thanks for posting. This ride truly looks like it could be epic ! Can't wait for the opening.
  4. What a great post Texcoaster, and couldn't agree more on all counts. I rode the Giant and MS their opening seasons too and your right, the ride experience was totally different, however they were designed by the same firm and both coaster's lift hills are similar in design. With that said, you hit a grand slam pointing out that the new layout bears NO resemblance to the original, and takes the ride to a totally different level (hopefully higher). I can't wait to ride this epic beast to see for myself - but boy - the layout looks GREAT on paper and in real life!
  5. LOL - Minor techincality from my point of view. I personally don't care what a coaster is made of as long as it's smooth, forcefull, and fast! El Toro is the perfect example with all the discussion on what it truely is (wood, steel, hybrid), but the bottom line is that it's one kick @ss ride up there with Bizzaro/RoS at SFNE.
  6. Well, I couldn't disagree with Rob any more strongly. Granted Mean Streak was never a "good" ride, but this treatment could transform it into a world class ride, especially given the Giant is very similar to MS. The vast majority of enthusiasts want MS to burn to the ground, so this treatment could save CF significant capital from starting from scratch and transform the current under utilized asset into a true revenue generating thrill machine it was meant to be. After riding ET and seeing what a "wooden" coaster can generate in terms of airtime, g-forces, and thrills - I'd personally like to see every wooden coaster get this treatment, since I'm not a big fan of bruises or getting thrown around while on a ride. My $.02.
  7. Thanks for posting the pics! This ride truly looks EPIC, and certainly will plan a visit to Texas next year. I also concur these great elements supported by mostly wood does make me wonder how the ride will hold up over the long haul. Time will tell.
  8. WOW - Thanks for the video - That launch looks and sounds amazing! This video shows the launch and rest of the ride (off ride), and I'll let you form your own opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq_FOWAG7Ks&feature=related
  9. Thank You very much for the photo trip report - though depressing to see a once decent park reduced to rubble - it's cool to see reality and how it is today. I went to Lincoln Park more than a few times as a kid and the Comet was a ride that totally terrified me - but I conquered it - and it's responsible along with the coaster at Paragon for my coaster enthusiasm. Sad to see (no doubt) - and greatly appreciate the update.
  10. Thanks for sharing. The layout does look similar to the other coaster while I agree with pj that the POV does lead me to think too that the original launch video was sped up with the rest of the ride looking like the back half of MF, or average at best. Don't get me wrong, the ride looks like a lot of fun, but after reaching 149 MPH there is enough momentum to carry the train over a 450 foot hill, while FR only has a 170 foot hill, so the trims have to significantly reduce the speed of the trains. Using the video as a timer, the ride duration is 75 seconds, the track length is 6,561 feet long, so the average speed less than 70 MPH, which I find disapointing.
  11. If you liked that link, you'll really enjoy the two below POV - http://www.hs.fi/videot/1135226783338 Off ride - http://www.hs.fi/videot/1135226783340
  12. Totally agree that that one hill should provide strong ejector air and hope they have a few more to reveal next Monday.
  13. I'm looking forward to next week as well. Maybe there are some missing elements that will be revealed with the full video. I'm a huge Intamin fan boy and will certainly be there for the opening, but was hoping for a few more thrills. To me, this ride looks more like a combination of Maverick, I305, and MF, combined to make a family friendly thrill ride. It looks like it's going to be a blast and very re-rideable.
  14. I was at the opening of Mean Streak and hated it from day one - VERY disapointing for the world's tallest woodie at the time - so I completely agree up until THIS YEAR that the ride would just disapear. Now that the Texas Giant is starting to take shape - IF the new ride delivers, I would think CP would retro fit MS. If it doesn't - then I'm sure CF will give MS the same fate as Hercules (another complete disapointment) - so patience young grasshopper - something is bound to happen to MS sooner or later.
  15. Unless the new ride has wing walker seats, I don't see how/why you would compare this ride to Baco. Do you know something we don't Robb? From the video, it looks like the seats are centered over the track, so while it hugs the ground going extremely fast with launches throughout the course, I'm thinking Maverick was the inspiration for the ride.
  16. LMAO - Mack ......... Thankfully, I'm confident the contract for this ride protects CF, since they haven't taken the "keys" yet for the ride. With that said, as an Intamin fanboy, this situation does leave me scratching my head
  17. Sorry to interrupt between the drama, but I have a question that I don't think been asked yet. If they are trying to reduce the speed of the train during the first drop and it's the speed at the bottom that matters. Then why aren't they starting the brakes at the top so the coaster hangs a bit? I HATE starting a free fall and then getting interrupted in the middle of it - I do also have to agree with Robb 200 % with his budgeting observation.
  18. I think we should also point out B&M's Mantis at CP with a trim on it's drop as well. Believe me, I'm just as bummed about this as everyone else, and very glad I went opening day. With that said, I also think this is a work in progress, with the trims being changed or moved over time. As I recall it took CP three years to "fix" Magnum.
  19. It's on youtube titled Intimidator 305 HD posted 2 days ago. You can clearly see something new has been added to the first drop.
  20. El Torro is silly - LOL - ET is certainly the wooden coaster here in the states with the most amount of extreme ejector air. I can't find a measurement in terms of seconds of air for any Intamin, believing that's a B&M marketing ploy, but Bizzaro (Ros) at SFNE hasn't been beat yet with the relentless ejector air on every hill. There's a reason it's consistently number 1.
  21. This looks like one epic ride, though I doubt I'll ever make the trip, given all the problems with TTD and KK and the other cable launch rides. I can't believe they went with a cable launch system over electronic (go figure). All the Intamin cable launch rides have/had over heating problems, and this ride is in the dessert with sandstorms? I'm also very surprised at the 1.7 Gs, assuming a launch from zero to 154 MPH in 4 seconds would be more forceful. Thanks for the links, videos, and pictures. I can't wait to see the videos, while I fear this ride will be closed more than open. Hope not, but history does repeat itself (imho).
  22. It does look huge and can't wait for the announcement. For me, this latest image of the layout with launch sections finally provided a more completed picture of the layout. (thank you). What surprised me, is the distance from the third launch to the brake run. Kinda short compared to the distance between launches two and three. Is it me? Very interesting no doubt.
  23. That picture is priceless - lol - thanks for sharing, while I agree with your opinion of the ride. I didn't get stapled and understand why the OTSR are there, but I'd prefer it more if they weren't there. The trim brake does hit the train hard and really spoils the pacing (imho). Regarding the turns, there were 2 specifically that were uncomfortable, but enjoyed all of the others. I do think Intimidator 305, even with it's drawbacks is one of the best coasters in the world (top 5 imo).
  24. THANK YOU Millinnium for the video - it was GREAT and a lot of fun to watch, with a great song in the back ground. I went opening weekend and had a great time (looks like you did too). For me, it's in the exclusive league of Bizzaro/RoS (#1), El Toro (#2) and my personal #3, Intimidator 305 - WOW. And to all those Intamin bashers, Intimidator 305 proves Intamin can open a ride on-time and free of down-time (for the most part). On my second ride, we got stuck (or stopped on the lift, 75 feet from the top) for about 2 minutes during the charity auction rides.
  25. Thanks for the video Robb, it does show how relentless this ride is - truly incredible. I rode it twice yesterday (very front and very back) and agree it is one epic relentless ride. I do not believe it comes close to RoS/Bizzaro at SFNE, especially in the airtime department, but definitely a top 5. The strengths are the lift hill speed, smoothness, intensity, and GREAT first drop! Like others, I'm not a fan of those OTSR AND the trim brake (WTF). I personally hated the trim and feel like it destroys the ride's pacing as well as neuter any air on that hill. SFNE is my home park so I'm definitely a fan boy, who thinks I305 only falls short with airtime.
