  1. And another - http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=117914&catid=40 So sad, unfortunate, and preventable.
  2. I found a Steel Hawg IB promo video on youtube - http://youtube.com/watch?v=dbndq_RhP7E&feature=related - so they must be close. Have they started testing yet?
  3. ^I understand - but please - don't assume ALL Intamins are like the one at SFA - cause RoS at SFNE is nothing like it and light-years better. Regarding the other rides you want to try - you've been warned (sorry) - But like all of you - you need to draw your own opinion. Keep us posted on what you think.
  4. I had the same mind set the first few years RoS was open at SFNE. It's 90 minutes for me - but before the ankle straps - the ride ROCKED and was worth the trip. Now it's just so uncomfortable to ride, I only go once or twice a year - I honestly prefer the 12 hour drive to CP when I have a long weekend free.
  5. It's a great trip - too bad it isn't ours. Since Knoebels has pay per ride, I'd stop at Knoebels after Hershey since you drive by it on the way to SFGA. If I didn't care about credits, I'd pass on SFA - they place sux imo.
  6. I thought the execution of Cedar Point's old system needed work, but I loved the fact knowing I'd go to MF at a particular time and have a shorter than normal weight. It rocked in my opinion, given it's a 12 hour drive for me to get to the point. Regarding Raptor and empty seats, I think it's more of a function of 4 across seating. As an avid snowboarder and snowboard instructor, ski areas all over the country have a single rider line and it works very well imo. It guarentees the lift's capacity is maximized minimizing the wait time.
  7. Thanks - great video - must be nice to have it so close
  8. The kind words were well deserved. What I don't get is why people would want singles to wait with everyone else while trains are dispatched with empty seats. It appears misery truly does enjoy company ! And while I understand peoples distain for fast pass type systems, there has to be a way in this day of technology for people to stand in line virtually and do something else in the park (like spend money).
  9. Your TR really got me excited for my upcoming trip. Thank- you for sharing since your pics were AMAZING - great job - thank you for sharing. Did they say anything noteworthy during the Q&A? I'm disapointed MS isn't going anywhere - it's beautiful - especially at night - but god, that's it. And like you, I could ride MF, TTD, Maverick, Gemini, Magnum, and Raptor all day !
  10. It really does seem like a nice family park - and Hellcat looks decent, though trims always ruin a coaster imo. Great TR, pics, and vids - thanks for sharing - wish the POV was of the whole ride and not just the first two drops - but great nonetheless.
  11. ^ I think Dorney and Knoebels would be out of the way if they went south - and to be honest - ET is just as good as RoS - and on some levels even better. I know they are different - but when it comes to ejector air, laterals, and helixes - they are both in a class by themselves imo.
  12. Well - Trip 1 involves less driving with a mixed bag of rides and medocre parks. Trip 2 involves a lot more driving - a lot more - SFGA to BGW is a haul. You may want to consider waiting until the trip itself and see who has the best weather. The weather at SFNE and Hershey is always different than VA given they are hundreds of miles away. Plenty of hotel options so that isn't an issue. I'd wait and follow the better weather (final answer - lol)
  13. ^YUP - totally forgot about that one. Ya know, the more I think about this - I'm going to change my mind and say "Mean Streak". At least the SLC and boomerangs are thrilling, though painfull. Mean Steak is beautiful to look at, but has never delivered a thrilling ride. I went to CP opening year for MS and it sucked then too. I think CP should get rid of MS and move the two GL coasters into the space.
  14. I agree this was one of the best trip reports I've seen in a while. I live in Boston and don't get to CP often enough - but do try to get there once a year (thankfully). The vast majority of my visits I've had similar experiences with operations, while I couldn't agree more with all of your ride reviews. The only exception could be Mantis, because on one trip, they weren't using the drop trim and the mid course brake was barely applied. On that day, Mantis was in a league with Raptor. Regarding Mean Streak, I was there opening year and the ride has always sucked - period. It is one of the most beautiful coasters I've ever seen and even as a walk-on I just keep on walking towards Gemeni. IMO, CP should remove MS and put the two GL coasters in the same location.
  15. ^ Hm..... you know that's a pic of KK not TTD? Worst coaster - yikes - so many to choose from - any Vekoma boomerang.
  16. What a dilema. RoS at SFNE is amazing and a MUST ride (at some point in your life). If you hit SFNE you could also hit LC and Boulderdash. Over the course of a week you could easilly hit SFGA, then the PA parks (Hershey/knoebels) and SFNE. SFNE is my home park - and honestly - RoS is a MUST (at some point). With all that said - KD and BGW are full of amazing quality rides. If I were in your shoes - I'd do SFGA, KD, and BGW - there are just too many quality coasters not to check them out. And with the addition of ET at SFGA - it's a no brainer. ET is the wooden version of RoS and are very similar in terms of EJECTOR air. Have a great trip and post some pics when it's all said and done.
  17. Great TR - any idea when it will air? Loved the pics - they were high quality for sure and you could tell you and everyone else had a kick ass time (though I prefer TTD - lol - jp) - thanks for sharing.
  18. ^Yikes, ya know, when I was growing up my folks would always tell me if you don't have anything good to say - then don't say it. I will say that texting and driving is illegal in NJ and should not be done by anyone. I thought the TR was awesome - thanks for sharing - and if you like ET - then get to SFNE and ride RoS (it's steel brother).
  19. Yup - I see them and did before my post. On the first drop, it's that straight down portion that appears to be brakeless prior to the "inversion". I don't know - even if those "thick" portions of track were brakes, that verticle drop going into that first inversion followed by that 180 degree turns look friggen nuts. I question weather this ride ever operated - I love the concept or idea - don't get me wrong - but it just looks "wrong" - or typical for S&S - lol.
  20. Dbru - with all due respect, I do not see any breaks on either drop of afterburner - educate me - where are they on this picture - those drops look clean to me - and for the life of me - I can not find a picture or video of this ride operating anywhere !! I do see them on the flats, but not on the drops themselves - curious where they are (honest).
  21. ^Not only that - it's BRIGHT - FUN - can clean. I love it. The pictures of the coasters are amazing imo too.
  22. ^ In my opinion, it looks like a hybrid between the two. Has it ever run? I would love to see a video of this ride in action too, but as I recall from a trip report it is SBNO. Doesn't surprise me either. I don't see any breaks, and that first drop straight down into that "loop" looks nuts. I've looked everywhere for a video and can't find one - only the screamin squirrel which looks downright boring - no wonder there aren't any in this county. Steel Hawg on the other hand is in the US and looks like it has amazing potential being the best of all three concepts rolled into one (let's hope).
  23. ^ we all have blinders on hoping to god we are wrong and the ride kicks butt. Maybe the small wheels will keep the train slow allowing for smooth transitions? (we can hope anyway - bring on the testing videos) Go CELTICS - 36 point lead in the 4th - what a blowout !!!!!
  24. ^ Well I think that's all of our worst fear - I'd prefer to think it "could" be a mini version of Maverick with mad Gs and smooth transitions.
  25. ^VERY NICE - maybe testing will start soon. Wish the seats were more "stadium" like - but they look GREAT (imo) !!! I noticed that as well - the wheels are small, but given the size of the ride, it makes sense.
