  1. ^ You're kidding? right? Coasters do not always give the same ride - weather, temp, and humidity all factor in to a trains speed for wood and steel coasters. Yes, restraints are universal, but again given the size and shape of the rider, this will impact his/her "fit" within the seat which will impact the individual riders ride experience.
  2. ^Yes, biased. "Horrible operations"??? Compared to who? Disney and Universal charge significantly more for a day ticket - and if you are going to tell me SF has better operations than CP, I will stop right here, cause you truely are biased and delusional to belive that.
  3. ^Really? Didn't magnum have an issue (crash) right after or during a rain storm? CF wants to operate on the side of caution - hats off to them. I will take CF's operations and maintance over SF's ANY day! FYI, SFNE is my home park - I'll take an inconvenience at CF over months of ride closings and death (literally) at SFNE (RoS specifically).
  4. A RCDB comparison would only prove CP has more coasters than SFGA. I will agree CP is a "bit" behind GA in terms of coaster quality - would totally disagree that CP is "far behind" - imo - one maybe two more Maverick qulaity coasters would seal the deal for CP, because let's face it, both parks have dogs in terms of coasters. I think it's only ET that gives SFGA the edge.
  5. HMm... Well, most park close rides when it rains, unless the ride is indoors. I view this issue as safety vs. customer service - when I go snowboarding I don't bitch when the lift is down due to wind - and wouldn't complain about rides being down due to weather. I agree Breakers is not the best - working in the hospitality industry - it is VERY expensive for what you get - but no different than other parks. Yes, you can stay at Universal for less during the "off" season, and their properties are nicer for sure - but they are also open year round which makes a huge difference. There isn't much to do at Universal either when the property shuts down. I prefer lighthouse point when I stay there. It honestly all about personal taste and prefference - nothing more
  6. Well, the rain may have something to do with it. And YES, it is a HUGE disapointment with the brake on (no doubt).
  7. Great pics and story line - thanks. Question - Did Mantis have the drop trim on? I gotta tell ya - when it is off - it is one hell of a ride, and it wasn't on the last few years. When it's on - it severly impacts the rides pacing imo.
  8. Every year it seems this topic comes up, and I almost passed it buy until I read "I've never been to SFGA, but my vote goes with SFGA over CP" - WTF? SFGA has more than a few great rides like ET, Nitro, Medusa, and KK, while CP has Maverick, MF, Raptor, TTD, Magnum, etc. Both great. What puts it over the top for me is the beach, water park, on-site hotels, and customer service - CP is the one park I go to every year from Boston.
  9. Thanks for the pictures - Awesome - It looks like one hell of a ride and can not wait to ride it. Are there any other testing videos?
  10. ^You are probably right - but would hope some day they'd add a new coaster. The park has such potential too.
  11. ^YES - could not agree more on all your points. I think once this ride breaks in and starts going faster with the warmer weather - this is going to be one hell of a ride. Thanks for posting the video (no doubt) - excellent vantage point and quality.
  12. ^ Good point - my bad - or at least let's hope he meant Hershey
  13. ^I wasn't looking to be convinced or convince you of any thing. My comment or opinion was to help educate you that your post and the logic behind it was difficult to follow - no more - no less. You said "This ride is old hat w/ a different lift hill." Followed by " it's a modified Intamin 10 inversion coaster". It does have a different lift AND a steeper drop along with 4 less loops than a 10 inversion coaster. My point was that since it's the same manufacturer AND the same designer - it's logical that Fahrenheit would be similar to other Intamin rides. The industry is all about fun as you correctly pointed out - and I think you are over analysizing this ride.
  14. ^Don't want to get too off topic - but you're kidding - right? If you have never been to SFGA, then honestly you should go there - no question or debate. KK, Nitro, Medusa, and ET are GREAT rides. The Hard Rock park looks weak at best with Led Zeppelin and their other coasters appearing to deliver average ride experiences. Great for credits though, don't get me wrong.
  15. Piraten does look awesome and I would love to see one at SFNE too. I know it's unlikely and they do have RoS, but SFNE has a horrible coaster collection. Two good coasters, maybe three at the most. Now Canobie Lake Park would be the ideal location given the height restriction.
  16. ^shark, excellent point. Intamin does a GREAT job of mixing up elements - if I see one more drop, loop, heartline, emilem - lol - don't get me wrong - I love em - but hats off to Imtamin for at least trying a 79 MPH launch followed by a heartline - it don't work - oh well - at least they honestly tried to push the envelop. Tom (getting down from his soapbox - sorry)

  18. I don't follow you at all KFC. Farenheit is made by Intamin so I see a little Maverick, SR, and even Collossus in there. The track is the same, some use the same colors, and like B&M, you just know an Intamin when you see it. With that said, I think the ride experience will be vastly different than other Intamins, and hope it's close to Maverick's intensity. Now Brandon, where is that testing video (jp)
  19. Brandon - no need to apology, thank you for the quick response. I LOVE the pictures - I have a ton of friends in PA, while I am there all the time - (every couple of weeks or so) - I am living vicariously through your pictures and videos and loving every minute of it. SFNE is my home park, and RoS is obviously my fav steel - I LOVE Inatamin rides - period - regardless of the mechanical crap - I think all of their coasters rock - or at the very least, deliver what I personally look for in a coaster. Thanks again for the pics - let us know when the video is up (please)
  20. GREAT pictures Brandon - thanks for sharing. I can not wait to ride Farenheit. Is the video up yet? Can't wait to see that too !! I went to the link saw ALL the amazing pictures, but must have missed the video.
  21. Good observation with the skids, you could be right. I am sure Intamin has a fail safe for everything they have thought of - the question is have they considered both chains failing at the same time? It's not like anyone has ever died on one of their rides (sarcasm) Tom SFNE is my home park - Intamin rules !!!
  22. Knowit, this is Intamin's 3rd verticle lift since there are two "ball" coasters already operating. My question is where are the testing videos?
  23. I am not a huge fan of SFGA - you're right they have KK and ET - but they also have Medusa and Nitro (Which rock)
  24. I drive/fly from Boston to CP at least once a year and have been since 1989 when Magnum opened. I've also had a season pass there for more than a few seasons. I usually get to SFGA once a year as well and have visited MM 3 times (once to be on a national geographic special). If you've never been, I don't think you can go wrong. Staying on the property - walking - and not driving is huge for me. I think it's more relaxing, while allowing you to go to your room easily for whatever reason. Robb, I think last year Magnum was running as good as it did opening year. In my opinion, CP is a good two days, while you only need one day at either SFGA or MM. If CP had an airtime machine like ET I think the park and it's collection of rides would be perfect. (ok, I'd like to see X at CP too).
  25. Ginzo, you beat me to the punch. Another looper in Florida (oh joy, how unique). Don't get me wrong, the concept does look great - but it's common knowledge that 50% of the GP avoid coasters with loops, and yet most of the coasters in Orlando have them, and none of them offer any significant airtime. I don't get it - but any new coaster is a good thing.
