  1. Looks like mine will be Banshee at Kings Island next month for the coaster's media day!
  2. If anything, you'd think the nerf would keep roughness to a minimum!
  3. I dunno, maybe I'm weird, but I really don't see the point of all this debating of steel, wood, steel, wood, etc. If the coaster is great, fun, and runs well, then who cares what it's made of or should be categorized as? With this design and these elements, I think Goliath looks freaking fantastic! And I'd still feel that way if it was made of nerf and aluminum!!
  4. I'm sure considering your demands, that all the Louisville folks are running to their cars to jump right on that request! Patience. More photos will come out in due time.
  5. ^ Just go to Page 1 of the thread, and scroll down towards the bottom of the first/information post. Everything you need to know about how to create your custom signature banner can be found there. Good luck fundraising!
  6. Dustin, you've been really generous and have donated to many pages....well done! So, I felt you deserved a bump into triple digit territory! Keep up the great work!!
  7. I'm very intrigued by the new revival of Les Miserables coming back to Broadway in a little over a week (I think it's in previews currently). I've always loved this show, and this cast looks very promising. They performed "One Day More" on GMA yesterday, and although I'm a little unsure about Eponine (she started out sounding a little off, but then it got better), I think the guy playing Jean Valjean (the fantastic Ramin Karimloo, who wowed my wife and I when we watched him play Phantom in the 25th anniversary show at Royal Albert Hall in England) sounds phenomenal! That guy's voice is ridiculous! Check it out - New Les Mis Cast - "One Day More" Now I just need to figure out some way to swing a trip back to NYC.......that could be a bigger challenge!
  8. And here is a prime example of why TPR rolls out the BEST enthusiast club around! Club TPR is the pinnacle, folks. Most clubs will send you an announcement AFTER prices have already gone up. The fact that you guys gave advance notice, and even allowed people to renew/join prior to the price increase, just shows what kind of commitment you have to your members. It's rare, and it's AWESOME!! So, if it's not said enough, I'd like to say thank you!! Quite frankly, with all of the discounts, perks, and goodies associated with Club TPR, it's a steal even at the new price!!
  9. Interesting to see the Koch family pick up this place. I don't know much about Alabama Adventure, but I do wonder if the plan is to focus on the waterpark only (they do have the experience there with Splashin' Safari), or to revitalize and reopen the dry park as well. Rampage is still SBNO down there, right? Wonder if there'd be any chance of them reopening that? EDIT: ^ Answered my one qurestion, that Rampage is still there......hmmmm......
  10. Welcome to the party, Chris! KD will be rocking this year! Great to see many of the TPR teams growing in size and starting to gain some fundraising momentum! Don't forget to utilize your social media in spreading the word out about this cause! And don't be afraid to encourage others to spread the word and share it with their friends and family as well. You never know, if the message hits the right person, it could lead to some extra donations. Also, just a little heads up - Robb had mentioned to keep your eyes peeled down the road for some cool giveaways tied to donations.....there might be some randomly awesome park goodies involved!!
  11. Although it's still pretty early in the fundraising process, our 2 California teams could use a little jump start! So, who wants to show them some Team TPR love?? California's Great America - Team TPR Knott's Berry Farm - Team TPR Also, we only have 2 teams left to be setup! If anyone here is heading to Valleyfair or Worlds of Fun, please help us out and setup the Team TPR page! (Don't forget, look at the KD page for an idea of how we'd like it to look.) Thanks!
  12. Every participant has a different approach, so there's really no right or wrong way to go about getting donations. I think the main thing is to be proactive without pestering people. For me, I make use of social media for sure. I'll usually post something to my Facebook page (a link to my page with some rallying cry, a good GKTW video - I posted a couple examples back on page 5, etc.) about once every couple weeks, just to keep it active in people's minds. Then I may post more frequently as the event draws closer. Keep in mind, a lot of folks will see your post, but wait to donate when they see the event isn't until June. Also, I usually send out a mass email when my fundraising kicks off to family, friends, and some coworkers (making sure to definitely include people who have donated in the past, as they may likely support again). As for businesses, I haven't ventured down that road before, but I'm thinking about doing so this year. Above all, be creative! Go to churches, schools, wherever you may have connections where they might be willing to help. Just my two cents on it anyway. Good luck with your fundraising journey! P.S. - Decided to give Travis his first donation, and give you a bump as well!
  13. ^ Thank you very much! Only 2 more left to create!
  14. ^ Gave you your first donation, Derek! Happy fundraising, and look forward to seeing you down there!
  15. Intimidator 305 - Kings Dominion (Looking very forward to finally riding this again this year at Coasting for Kids!)
  16. Last year at Dorney we had 3 coasters on the schedule, and we all marathoned as one group. We started at Steel Force, then after lunch/awards, we moved as a group to Talon, and eventually Hydra. I would wager with 2 coasters that it would be handled the same way.
  17. ^^ Sent another donation your way, Chuck! And thank you very much for your donation to my page yesterday!! Looking forward to meeting you in June!
  18. Because you have learned all about construction schedules in your 13 years of life??? HAH! You doubted me! Look how much of the ride has gone up already! Kiss my Wow, way to be a total douchebag to a moderator! Seriously, that was pretty uncalled for. Now, as for Lightning Run? I think it's already looking pretty awesome!! And if anyone doubts that Chance can deliver a coaster chalked full of airtime, I have 2 words for you - Phantom's Revenge. Loving the colors too.....very sleek!
  19. ^ Yeah, there are admittedly some bugs and quirks that I'm not honestly a huge fan of with the new system. I kind of miss the First Giving pages we had in previous years.....but, as long as my donors can make it to the page and donate hassle-free, then I'm a happy camper. By the way, thank you for setting up the Cedar Point page for Team TPR! Good luck with your fundraising!
  20. Thank you both for helping out and setting up those team pages! Only 4 parks left now - Cedar Point, Knott's, Valleyfair, and Worlds of Fun. Also, the front page is updated with event details for all the parks that have released them so far (6 of the 11 have released their details). Annnnd, I have finally setup my personal fundraising page - http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?px=1020149&pg=personal&fr_id=1235 I'm hoping to have an even bigger fundraising year this time around. 24. I had to dig up these 2 videos that can be found on the Give Kids The World YouTube channel. I'm pretty sure at least one of these was brought to our attention last year by Kara. These 2 videos show exactly why we do this. THIS is the reason TPR fully supports Coasting for Kids and the marvelous efforts of GKTW. Once I found them, I watched them again......and they still make me tear up. Please support Team TPR - donate, join a team, and spread the word of this wonderful event and cause!! And if you have a fundraising page, might I suggest sharing one (or both!) of these videos with family and friends.....by email, Facebook, whatever. Show your potential donors what they are supporting!
  25. I updated the first page with event details for Cedar Point, Dorney Park, and Kings Island. Some Team TPR Pages still need created!! This year we need to rely on the team members to actually setup the Team TPR at each park. Right now, only 5 of the 11 parks have a Team TPR Page. We still need Team TPR pages for the following parks: California's Great America Carowinds Cedar Point Knott's Valleyfair Worlds of Fun For any of you who are registering at any of the above parks, can you PLEASE help us by setting up a Team TPR Page? It would be most appreciated! And if you do, I think Nicole has a great "template" (for the Kings Dominion one - http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?team_id=1548&pg=team&fr_id=1235) that each Team should be using for their page. It's simple and very effective. We just think it's important to have some consistency among the TPR teams who are united in support of this wonderful cause!!
